Sergio Reguilon - Round 2

That doesn't inspire confidence in our new singing all dancing football structure....

 fecking hell, if that's true were such a banter football club now.

I’d take him for a very low fee. He wasn’t as bad as people made out, it was mainly the injuries which hampered him. I liked how aggressive he was.

I mean it was bizarre to let him go in the first place (although who knows, maybe we tried to keep him behind the scenes).

Would love a top-quality starting left back to sign to give Shaw proper competition. Reguilon isn’t that guy.

Surprised by the negativity, he’s no world beater obviously but he had some decent games for us, and considering the rebuild job we have on could be a good back up whilst Amass matures.

Have you guys given up on Malacia or looking for a third choice LB?

Our LB situtation is up in the air. Both Shaw and Malacia enters the pre-season on the back of a long absence and with Shaw with certainty can't complete an entire season anymore. Malacia has been out for over a year and noone knows if he's even fit for pre-season. It's also too early to expect much of Amass, even if he looks like a brilliant player in the making.

I don't think we've given up, but we can't trust him or Shaw to stay fit, so need a third choice. Malacia probably moves to third choice.

We let him go due to finances involved and PSR, not due to his performance iirc.

Weird one though, he was on loan - surely that wouldn’t impact PSR?

He barely played, but I thought he looked “not shit”. Considering how fecked we were at LB last season, we could have done with him staying.

I agree, and would take him back for a low fee and low wages. He’s no Shawberto, but he has reasonable technique and doesn’t panic with the ball at his feet. Good energy levels too.

Beggars can’t be choosers and this link suggests the hierarchy have little faith in the availability of Shaw/Malacia next season.

The source isn't the best is it?

Malacia apparently might not come back. Poor guy looks finished, whatever that injury was.

Had a few good games. Was okay to decent-ish overall. We’d be nuts to buy him unless we genuinely are stuck for money and have to get a body in in that position.

Damn, where did you hear that?
Back last season. He might be back obviously but he had mental reservations as well as physical issues from recovering.

It's highly likely that's purely tabloid speculation. Athletic reported setbacks from meniscus operation. The mental part is something pretty much everyone with serious knee injuries are going through to some extent. Complicated meniscus injury is a b*tch, though.

He wasn’t even our player, nothing to do with PSR.

it was because our medical team said that Shaw was gonna be ok/fit for rest of season. He wasn’t & we ended up in the shit show that we were in. We could have really done with Sergio in the last part of the season

He's 27, would cost peanuts, and was alright for us last season.

1000% this over investing 40 million on some 20 year old left back, when we already have 4 good players/prospects there.

I never understood the need for an out-and-out left back this summer. It should either be someone like Reguilón for under 10m, or an LCB who can take up the LB position as well.

Smart signing. He was good for us and had a good attitude.

Neither Shaw nor Malacia can be totally relied upon, Amass is still young. He's a good bridge especially when we have other positions to fill.

Lets hope so, I'd love to see him back. Problem is I don't know any player who can come back after this long out and maintain a run of games.

If we can get him for feck all then I’m okay with this, safe to assume Malacia is done.

He was shocking for Brentford, we should steer well clear.

We didn’t really want to use him when we had an injury crisis so I’m going to assume this is bollocks. Would be concerning if not.

he was OK for us, but surely we can do better. what about one of the Italians?

He’ll cost no more than £5m. I liked what he had to over. It’s an easy solution to a pressing issue.

Only concern is when he was here ETH didn’t use him in the end, if I remember correctly. Or was he injured.

Malacia is done. We can’t rely on him.

Nice guy and all that but IMO he would just be a body for the sake of a body and Harry Amass could be that.

Would make a ton of sense imo. He is an ok lb, showed some character last time around and does not seem injury prone. Should by all means be cheap considering his contract situation as well.

Hopefully Shaw can come back from the dead and have a really strong season again, but just doesn`t seem very likely.
Malacia most probably needs more time to fully recover and get his sharpness back before we can have him as an option again.
Harry Amass looks a proper talent but needs more time to grow before he is an option.
Adding a decent and reliable LB for a smaller fee is smart considering all the players we would love to come in this summer.

We can get linked to Andy Carroll and some will start making a case for him and would act surprised at the "negativity".

He was barely passable for us and was benched quite a few times even with Shaw unavailable, iirc. No way he is good enough for us. No one knows what's up with Malacia and Shaw is constantly injured. We need a proper left back as much as we need two central defenders.

This is likely nothing but the agent trying to use our name to get him a deal elsewhere.
