Sergio Reguilon | Man Utd Loan with January break clause

You potentially have 25 games between now and January. Relying on a kid who's never played in the PL before and your starting CB + backup RB to cover is asking a lot.
Common sense is not so common here these days. Too much fm or fifa

We don't need to bring anyone in for cover, and if we do, why bring in a failed Spurs LB? We have Fernandez, Dalot, and Martinez who can play there bringing in a crap LB as cover doesn't make sense. I know people on this forum are pretty narrow-minded and can't look at the bigger picture, but our squad is looking more "Spursy" by the day. We're buying like challenging for 4th is our biggest ambition.
1. Imagining that Fernandez is better than Reguilon doesn’t make it true.

2. Martinez needs to play at CB as Varane is injured. Unless you’d prefer to have the Lindelof/Maguire all star partnership instead?

3. Until now we had 3 players for 2 positions, with the only one who is a natural LB having basically 0 PL experience. 1 more injury and we’d have been truly fecked.

this is a loan until January, it’s as sensible as possible given the circumstances.

Fair enough...it's not really something I'd given much thought tbh

But sure I'll take your advice and "get over it" ;)
Not you specifically mate, I’ve just seen loads of posts stating Dalot will play over him, just baffles me why we’d bring him in just to sit on the bench. There’s going to be a lot of unhappy posters when he plays a lot.

Happy to have egg on my face if I’m wrong, I just can’t see it not going the way I think it is

For a position we were not planning for it’s pretty good. Also, not sure how long Shaw is out for, but assuming Shaw gets back by December etc then if we keep Regulion until the end of the season it indirectly solves the CB cover issue as Shaw can play LCB.

The sarcastic guy who can't look at the bigger picture thus making a fool of himself. Congratulations.

Oooh, I can see you're a very serious person. Okay, let's cut the foolishness and take this one on with a straight face. Let's be serious. Who would you like them to sign as temporary cover for left back. Let's have it...

He sounds like a villain in a Final Fantasy game. Wonder if he will play like one, too.

I've already accepted this season will be a step back and we'll probably finish 5th or 6th, with the understanding we'll take two steps forward next year. Fear there's a shit show to happen in between all that thow...

Outside of the club being sold where is the hope for next year?

Next summer we will need to be looking at Varane and Casemiro replacements potentially, before we actually even try and get back to last seasons levels.

I can see us finishing between 6-8 at the moment.

Don't rate the player but not having to pay a loan fee is a pretty good deal tbf.

So in the unlikely scenario he turns out to be amazing for us, we won’t have an option to buy him?

Trying to figure out how this is going to go.

Is he going to be good or shit?

He'll probably start off good and then turn to shit.

.

Who were you expecting we sign to replace Shaw and Malacia for 3-4 months? Do you think spaffing 30 million on a LB that would have been surplus by January would have been a good use of money?

The LB situation is nor here or there we need multiple players and have no money to buy them that’s my point

Seems crazy how we’re willing to take on a ‘failed’ player though, he’s been rubbish for Spurs what happened to giving youth a chance? Fernandez and Dalot for a couple of months would be fine

Just hit rock bottom, the U-T-D.
On a mission tryna kill ol' Ed Woody.
Seen a day full of deals and I'm bout to tweak.
Arse bout to bend us over; the score? 1-3.
Now, the Glazers are freaks and that's a known fact,
Before we got bought we were absolute class
Back up, back up, Reguilón
U-N-I-T-E-D, we’re fecked up royally

I'm hoping the sale happens mate, otherwise it's not promising either way.

You posted that people who didn't care how we spend money should "Enjoy Reguilon". This loan signing isn't a product of previous excess, and spending a fortune on a left back now would be precisely the kind of reckless spending you're criticising others for being blasé about in the first place.

And yes, we need other positions filled and we're clearly being tight right now but this loan is surely not linked to the many factors leading to our relative lack of investment surely?

I’d like to think a well run club would use their youth player who’s just come off a decent loan and give him a chance though?

Fecking Reguilon? there’s absolutely no excuse for this player getting a move to United he’s been awful for years

Best case, he’s going to have a half decent contribution like Sabitzer. Worst case, he’s shite and we’ll find it out the hard way in a critical game over the next two months, something we can anyway expect with Dalot at LB. Shaw’s injury has fecked us and Reguillon coming in hardly has any potential to mitigate that issue.

Y'all laughing but he will be better than Malacia and will cover Shaw well at LB. Also will be good cover for when Varane gets injured and Shaw needs to play CB.

Good move! Decent player with EPL experience

He's been injured. Harsh to say a player is shit when he doesn't play.

People saying good move. God help you.
Of course it is a good move, very low wages, no loan fee, it was an emergency, there is literally no reason to moan about this loan except for the sake of it. No one expects wonders from him.
