Did anyone mention he's 29?

I am uncomfortable with the age myself and anything above the 20-25m mark would be ridiculous. However Ramos would add quality and experience in defense and because of his age he will permit Jones a second chance to claim a first team role

How does someone younger help us when we want to improve the starting 11 now?

Wages and fees are unlike tactics players or team selection. It's pointless to speculate and have such conclusive opinions about something one has no clue about. To cite an example, saying Di Maria should start over young, or should play left, right or cm, whatever makes sense. You see him play, you see other players play, you're well informed to have an opinion. On the other hand, saying 60mil was definitely too much for him, we shouldn't have paid more than 50 etc is pointless as one knows nothing about what made us pay 60mil in the first place.

Rest assured that Ed Woodward is more concerned about the club's survival than you.

Again, talking so definitively about what fees and wages would represent value and what wouldn't is absolutely weird. Are you in on his demands? Are you in about Real's demands? In about what other CBs of his level we could get and what the demands from their club and his own wages are? Are you in on the roundabout figure MUFC are willing to spend in terms of fees and wages this summer? If the answer to all of this is No, how are you so sure about what we should or should not pay?

The last part is just bollocks. I know you don't like LVG but you should be sensible enough to know that he doesn't decide things unilaterally. He has been told to deliver the title in 3yrs,2yrs to go then. The targets are in line with that. We are targeting players for the now while obviously building for the future. That will always be the case at a club like ours. Targeting CL football every year isn't what we do.

Again though, you thinking you know better about what's good or not for the club than the likes of LVG or Woodward is just weird.

Ramos is not the only player than can improve our starting XI.

It is not pointless, financial information is available free on the net. It can be discussed like millions of other pointless discussions we have on this site, which also we have no control over.

I am not saying I know better than Woodward or VG, I am giving my opinion, like you or anyone else. The club also appointed Moyes, and then Woorward managed to feck up two transfer windows. Then we appointed VG and didn't come out looking like geniuses in another window. I am not being overly dramatic in my concern. Much bigger entities than Manchester United have fallen like a pack of cards before. Souness and the then Liverpool board laid the foundation for the current state of one of the most successful football clubs in England. Milan cannot finish higher than 7th and they were champions in 2010-11.

We have spent close to 235m pounds in two years and are still looking for 5-6 first team players. That to me suggests that may be the higher ups are a bit clueless without Fergie's control.

And please, do not assume that I am in any way suggesting that buying or not buying Ramos will bring us down. We have digressed far away from that now.

This is a discussion forum for a club in Manchester, which you and me sitting in India discuss on a daily basis. Let's not start talking about weird.

Real have the biggest fear factor when it comes to referees. Ramos escaped numerous bookings and sending offs during the years. He's also a lot elbow happy in the air something that often was disregarded by the referees. I don't think he'll receive less cards in prem, on the contrary as it is more physical league and we don't hold 65%+ possession every game like Real do.
I think it's completely subjective and we won't know how 'dirty' he is until he plays a season in the Premier League. In saying that, some of his red cards for Madrid are suspect if you read that article. It also says he averages a red card for Madrid every 20 games, does anyone know what Vidic's average was? Or Keane for that matter?

I did ask you to list all those that are better than him. Your list had numerous names who aren't better and even the ones that are, would not be available.

I wasn't talking about the availability of financial data. Read my post again if you need to. My point is simply about being as definitive as you are about wages and fees and what would be value and what wouldn't be.

We have digressed way too much, agreed. So let's leave it at this when it comes to the rest of the post.

Silva (30 years old, massive wages, unobtainable)
Boateng (great player, but we are never getting a German player off Bayern)
Terry (34, unobtainable, and a huge threat to our wag club)
Chiellini (30, unobtainable)
Godin (brilliant defender, but he said he is not going to leave Atletico so he is unobtainable)
Benatia (had a few good seasons before but is he really better than Ramos? A resounding NO.)
Pique (Good luck getting a catalan off Barcelona)

I can't imagine another club on this planet (well, maybe Barca), who's fans would not want Ramos in their team. I suppose it just highlights a certain section of our fans who think United are the centre of the universe and only the best (which Ramos actually is) will do - even though we haven't had the best for many years.
I think we will be very lucky if we did get Ramos. Very lucky.

Cons 1 2 and 5 are positives for me. I want a total cnut in our team who gets under the oppositions nerves.

Anyone would think he was John Terry based on all the cnut calling. A racist, shag you mates bird, coke head scummy parents and a truly genuine fecking tw@t is definitely worthy of the title cnut. What has Ramos done to get such a rep, I know he is a primadonna on the pitch but anything else.... just curious?

He's a cynical thug, always was, always will be.

He's also a moaning, diving, cheating cnut. Terry is actually far less scummy on the pitch and even he's still a despicable player. Ramos is just unbearable, every time I see him I just want to punch him. I don't want him anywhere near the club.

He's rash, his disciplinary record is shocking and he's just thoroughly dislikeable. I'm praying this transfer falls through, that he'll get that new contract.

Nothing. People hate him because he elbows here and there (all defenders do it by the way), pumped up for the clasicos, falls a bit easy at times, but nothing to deserve the hate he gets. When he scored against Atletico in the final, you could see the hate on the caf. Thats also a reason, he denied the hipster club to win the CL. He generally represents Real or what Real stand for.

Most of his actions are during clasicos or against Atletico, in a lof of other games he behaves pretty normal.

Someone put it very well earlier.

Don't spend money - glazers are cheapstakes, pocketing the massive revenue.

Spend money - we are throwing money away. No one cares about the long term future of the club.

That's actually a super video.
The visual effects, the voiceover, the music and of course the fine actors (on the pitch, in the technical area and of course in the stands as well). Possibly the most dramatic enactment of a football match I've ever seen.

In terms of discipline I don't think that he is a lot worse than Vidic, Yes his yellow cards record is ridiculous but half of them wouldn't have been given in the PL.

So now they've agreed to sell, and we're just haggling over the price, how about just offer them DDG + €10m, they can call that whatever they like. €90m and they've also got another galaticos with DDG being the most expensive keeper ever ever...

Has anyone mentioned the fact that he's beautiful, or is that totally irrelevant these days?

Reminds me why I hate this cnut. Dropped a brick in that first video when Godin stood up to him.

Those videos show him to be a passionate and somewhat crazy cnut I'll agree. He doesn't reach the levels of detest that I have reserved for Terry though and that's not due to a rivalry with Chelsea I just really really hate the fecker.
I'm either or with regards to signing (not for 90m euros) so I'd be happy if he comes regardless of his on the field temper. I would also be just as happy with Otamendi or Hummels but my muppet b0ner is on ice for Schneiderlin although not in the superstar levels of Ramos or Schweinsteiger.

I'm perfectly happy for us to get Ramos, I think he'll be a great addition. But I hate the way we are once again ending up being bent over by Madrid here.

We are looking at sending them possibly our most valuable player, who is 24, entirely against our will. They are sending us a 29 year-old whose relationship with the club has broken down and needs moving on.

It is us who should be in the driving seat here, calling the shots, and milking them for all they are worth. Especially given that they are one of a couple of clubs who can genuinely claim to be bigger than us, and so for once we should be benefiting from big-club tax.

Personally I don't think we should be paying them a penny - a straight swap should be the worst deal we accept. Instead, I hear about us "going back in" with improved offers after they turn down £35m (!), while the signs are that DDG will be going for under £20m.

I think we need Ramos to tell both us and Madrid that he definitely wants the move. That should reduce the fee. Madrid might regret turning down our first offer, (if true) since they're basically gambling on him not wanting to come out and say this.

Exactly.

Also the price quoted looks ridiculous, 90M:eek:

It is hard to say who is or should be in the driving seat. Ramos actually loves Real, it is Perez that he doesnt like. While De Gea wants to go, with 1 year left on his contract, but the situation at United is perfect for him. Ramos has 2 years left with a massive buyout clause, he wont be cheap.

The thing is they can afford to sell Ramos, while de Gea is much more valuable to us than Ramos to them. I dont see why we should be in a better position. Maybe you would like it, but Real have a clear advantage. They want De Gea, as long as he isnt involved in a deal, this wont happen, unless we make a crazy bid.

Voted for "Hell no",maybe its stupid and i dont have issue with this qualities as player but he is special type of cnut,so really dont want him near us.

I probably shouldn't bring this up in this thread but do you really believe Ramos is a bigger cnut than Rooney or Giggsy?

Oh get off it.

We've had a fair share of insane players over the years. Keane, Scholes, Rooney and Cantona to name a few. Heck, the latter kung fu kicked a fecking spectator...

Lets start buying "nice" players and see how far we get with them.

Scholes doesn't belong in this conversation. Rooney isn't that bad on the pitch. Cantons kicked a racist supporter, which you conveniently missed out

Other than the kick against Messi, i dont know what people are on about. Costa, Mandzukic and Godin are cnuts themselves. And as i said, it is always against Barca and Atletico. 2 teams full of cnuts, i dont think we can count that as normal games or normal behaviour. Messi himself behaves like one in the clasico at times.

Guess i should say on field cnut,i didnt see what Rooney and Giggs done off the field, that does not mean they both arent cnuts of highest order for doing so. Its weird, maybe its just me but man there is something i cant stand in players like Ratface,Busquets etc.,maybe they are all great off field but when it comes to their action on the field, does it matter?

This might sound weird to some of you lovebirds but his cuntishness is part of why I like him so much.
I've always liked Ramos, despite him being a total prick. In fact there's a lot of footballers who are total pricks who I like, maybe I'm just into bad boys?

Scholes was quite reckless in a large percentage of his tackles, Rooney's had many instances of childish behaviour - recently against West Ham and Cardiff (13/14), and lets all kick out at any racist person.

I couldn't care less about their behaviour on the pitch, as long as it doesn't exceed normality. When emotions are high, you're going to act in ways that you shouldn't, its called... errr... being human; many here seem to be unaware. We need a tough nut like Ramos, especially, given he's actually a brilliant defender.

Who cares anyway? I'm a complete arsehole when I'm playing football. I played 5v5 astro the other day and called some poor guy a little prick cause he accidentally ran into me, and proceeded to man mark him the entire game and make sure he could do nothing with the football.

How tall was he?
