So, when do we get to have our new shiny Ramos and parade around with our cocks out?

I'm actually beginning to warm to this transfer, it actually sounds like Ramos wants to come to Utd. Whatever happens Woody has played this saga perfectly and shown Madrid we won't take any shite from them.

I wouldn't say that at all. There's still every chance we are calling their bluff with De Gea and if they hold out long enough they may just get him for peanuts. In my opinion the club really wouldn't want to let him go for free and will sell eventually. It's good to see we are not bending over for them though, and hopefully they get a little desperate and meet our demands. Better still, they get frustrated and go elsewhere.

393 folks think Ramos is "Not bad i guess"?

Flaming Nora :wenger:

oh, I voted ¨not bad I guess¨simply because I refuse(d) to believe it was true. Obviously, if(when) he signs for us, I shall travel to Old Trafford from Oslo and throw my underwear at him when he enters the pitch.

Considering I am a 42 year old, overweight male, I figured it would be better to curb my enthousiasm a bit :)

:D

That would be a sight to behold - like a Tom Jones concert..

Well there's no "good" option and the other two are basically incredible and terrible.

Age and cost for a lot of people would be a factor. While a quality signing right now and for a few years, it isn't an exactly a long term solution

I did. I'm the understated type.

There's a gap between the top two, and some of the figures being thrown about probably make people err on the side of caution.

I think he'd be excellent if he did sign & we could get 5 years of quality out of him, which is pretty good if you ask me; but its a big "if" & he could just be playin us. I voted muppetastic anyway, because it would be a muppet signing & we'd get one over Real for a change in the process.

If we did get him (again a big if) - he wouldnt be lookin to run back to Real anytime soon (and i doubt they'd be lookin to re-sign him either) & that's always gonna be a problem if we sign a player that Real desperately want - they'll come calling at some stage & unsettle said player like they always do.

Hand on my heart - i'd be astonished if we do sign him, just cant see it happening at all & Real would probably go after Otamendi as his replacement & he's probably the better fit for us long-term, but is there such a thing as long-term anymore now? 2 years of him being world-class for us & Real or Barca will come sniffing & he'd maybe want the move back to Spain.

That's always gonna be the risk with us signing quality foreign players from another European league, but it shouldnt hinder us from goin after these top-class players either..

I suppose it is a reflection on what people feel is muppetastic. If we got say Aguero or someone of his ilk then the place would be rocking. Defenders do not seem to get that much praise. Excellent player, but probably not sexy enough of a position.

Good point man, but it's such a key position that we need filling & a top-class CB would make us so solid now. That to me is muppetastic :)

This possible transfer really confuses me. The Real Madrid captain wants to move to Manchester?

Im having a hard time believing this. And Im not really confident the switch to the prem would be as suuccessful as people think. He'd better prepare himself for a physical aerial bombardment

I doubt this, we are in too deep now.

He is captain by default, longest serving player. And for your physical part, Have ypu not watched him? Him and Puyol before him are the most physical Spanish defenders i've known.

What's hard to believe? He's been there ten years and wants a new challenge.

More likely he wants to win trophies, one championship in seven seasons and with the way Perez behaves and the strength of Barcelona maybe he wants to taste another championship before he retires.

Also players like him getting all the blame when they don't win stuff. Not Perez bringing in players who tickle his fancy.

You really believe that, dont you?
He's probably seen what happened to Casillas, if we go by reports, and don't want that for himself. And who knows, with his dad being a United fan, the idea of coming here might appeal to him. I'm quite surprised by the number of United fans who think very little of the club (not directed at you btw) but maybe he sees this as a great opportunity to win trophies at another huge club.

To be honest our club is pretty good, the city of manchester isn't Madrid but outside of that players will probably earn more, have more chance for success (maybe) whilst playing in a more competitive league, be at a club with match going fans who don't turn on the manager or players, he's got to love how the United fans clapped Louis van Gaal even when he was losing, how much support they gave to Falcao even though he didn't perform, I mean Schweinsteiger is going to be worshipped like a king and if he does anything half decent a god, can't wait for the match going fans reaction to when he's about to come on as a sub.

If Moyes did what he did here at Real Madrid Perez would need to sack him not because sacking managers gets him going but if he didn't their fans would topple the bus.

Find this so hard to believe, unless the pressure is too much for him, like Valdes at Barca. Or he's seriously pissed off, like Vidic was with us.

Perhaps but he likely don't want to run the risk of getting treated badly. And it's not like they win trophy after trophy so who knows, he might want a new challenge. Anyhow I'm not stunned players want to come to the club as we pay very well, and maybe have as good a chance of winning as Madrid the next few years.

I did the United stadium and museum tour today, and sitting in van gaal's chair in the dug out , I was thinking to myself, who on earth could turn this club down. Looking around old trafford I was emagining running out in front of 75,000 fans I would totally shit myself.
Looking at the history in the museum, and staring at the huge stands, you really do understand how huge this club is, but Real has all the glamor of the environment and location and equally awesome history.
For millions of people it is a fairytale to put the united kit on and play their heart out for the club they love, so I really hope its not about money with Ramos.

I think it is though.

Ahh, that must have been a great experience. I do realise for players chosing between United and RM a good chunk would pick them but with Ramos having been there for years, going to United he probably see us as one of few clubs comparable to RM. If he comes the wages are possibly higher and he can win titles. So unless he is using United to get a new contract I can see why he'd find this an attractive challenge.

We should all pray we land him. I shudder at the thought of Blind playing CB in the prem. It'd be funny and in a very bad way.

Hey...thats why we have DDG.
He accepts that our defence is so bad, that the moment the opposition have possession in our half, he will almost certainly have to make a save. Either that or the shot on goal misses and goes out for a goal kick.

Well LVG seems to have gone back to his right/left footed obsession again, so who is Ramos coming in for? Jones? Smalling?
Anyone. He is better than all what we have.

Ramos is so good on the ball that LvG won't care.

Thats probably true. Or he'll partner him with Blind and we'll all have a nervous breakdown.

Actually, thinking about it, from a ball playing point of view, a Ramos/Blind combo is probably a LVG wet dream :nervous:
