SMS can play as a 10 so you are wrong
Hows he going to do that when we need a 3 man midfield for Pogba?

If Pogba no longer has to be the one making things happen creatively further upfield, his performances in the double pivot will undoubtedly improve. It wasnt by coincidence that at the start of the season, before his 3 months lay off, whilst Mhkitaryan was still playing well as a 10, Pogba had his best period in the double pivot role of the 4-2-3-1.But does he like it with Pogba as one of the deep CMs? I dont think so long term. Think he'd be more likely to want to use him as the 10 himself or off the wing because he'll get fed up of Pogba not doing a great job defending
It can work I guess, with Fred providing the tenacity that Vidal provided although we would need a better passer than Matic, a prime Carrick would have been perfect.2014/2015 Juventus formation:
As it appeared in the final vs Barcelona. The season Pogba had his best year at Juventus

Pogba was still the most advanced option in a 3 men CM that year. Both Allegri and Conte toyed with his position and both came to the same conclusion.
Strictly speaking I think that Pogba and SMS can play together ironically using either of the formations above (Barca or Juventus). HOWEVER it will need a radical change to our formation, probably getting rid of the wingers for good.
No, Pogba drifted to the left in the 4312 whereas Vidal or Marchisio was the most advanced midfielder. Pogba only played in Pirlo’s position or central-left.
Exactly. At no point in his best season was he employed behind the two strikers. And even in the 4-3-3 he operated on the left as an 8. Pretty similar to how Modric and Kroos do at Real Madrid. He has never been comfortable or as effective as high up as the likes of KDB and D. Silva play at City. That is why its never surprises me when his effectiveness has been up and down for us whenever we have used him there.No, Pogba drifted to the left in the 4312 whereas Vidal or Marchisio was the most advanced midfielder. We won't sign 6 players though - 4 at most is my guess ( one midfielder, left back, centre back and back up striker).He's quality despite being overpriced a bit and if we can get him I'll be thrilled. Imagine a window of Savic, Fred, Sandro, a RB, Toby and Bale. Instantly up there with City in terms of quality. Maybe Mourinho's determined to prove his critics wrong this season.
Why Jones and not Rojo?We won't sign 6 players though - 4 at most is my guess ( one midfielder, left back, centre back and back up striker).
In an ideal world we bring in the 6 recruits you've mentioned.
Out - Carrick, Fellaini, Darmian, Jones, (unfortunately Martial).
Rojo signed a new contract, so i'm guessing he is not leaving this summer. Jones has been given way too many chances already. Both can go, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.Why Jones and not Rojo?
Back up striker?We won't sign 6 players though - 4 at most is my guess ( one midfielder, left back, centre back and back up striker).

That line refers to what I think we will get, not what I want. In the next sentence I state that in an ideal world we bring in 6 new recruits as aforementioned by another poster which included (Fred, Sandro, Savic, RB, Bale, Alderweireld).Back up striker?
Don't you think a RW or RB should be more important?

Yeah I'm finding it hard to be excited for this transfer window, and I'm usually a very giddy muppet. I don't see how a big turnover is going to help the team chemistry either.What by spending £350 million, which is what it would likely take to bring that lot to the club, having already spent £250 million, yeah that'd really prove them wrong..
We could do with at least a RB, LB, CB, 2 x CM, RW, and a back up striker, but the fact he is now two years in and we still need so much is worrying to me, & unless I'm mistaken Woodward and Jose said they don't want to have a high turnover of players anymore, yet here we are.

Aye, Jose is the ultimate 'muppet' slayer, it's hard to get excited when you know any signings will just be slotted in to his system, and any improvement will be marginal.

Nobody is going to pay close to £100m for an unproven player in a different league, it's just crazy.Think its Lazio owner fishing for a price that teams are willing to pay. No one will pay that much for savic apart from PSG maybe. Psg might be facing FFP sanctions so this will not happen. I think unless he has a blinder of a world cup, most probable outcome is he stays there another year. He does love mourinho though and is good friends with matic so if we do make a move, our chances are good. I do think the only way we sign him is if pogba goes to PSG/madrid.
<-Sanchez Lukaku->Two possible 4-2-2-2 formations with realistic purchases. I'm not saying we'll go with it, but it's feasible considering our strongest current links. Obviously, there'd need to be sales first.
<-Pogba...........Savic->
Fred Matic
Sandro Jones Bailey Fabinho

<-Martial Rashford->
<-Lingard.............Mata->
McTominay Herrera
Young Lindelof Smalling Valencia

Think it'll depend on Fellaini, he's still got a month left on his contract so I imagine that'll go right down to the wire.I don't think this move is dead in the water as some have mentioned. Hasn't Mourinho made it clear he wants two CM's? Fred being one of them, and Jorginho is going to City? Apart from them two and Fabinho, I haven't seen us linked to any other CM's ? Lazio missed out on CL football last minute so he will most likely want a move away from the club and Lazio won't be able to turn down a decent offer. I can see negotiations dragging out and going beyond the WC but I think we will sign him.
He doesn't get to decide to stay, that's up to the club, if they don't offer him a new contract then he's leaving regardless of whether he wants to stay.Think it'll depend on Fellaini, he's still got a month left on his contract so I imagine that'll go right down to the wire.
IF he decides to stay then we won't buy anybody else, if he leaves then we might pull the trigger, but if Lazio truly want 100m euros then we will look elsewhere, Matic/Pogba/Fred is still a pretty decent midfield with Herrera/Fellaini in rotation.

Mourinho's made it pretty clear we've offered him a new contract and he wants him to stay.He doesn't get to decide to stay, that's up to the club, if they don't offer him a new contract then he's leaving regardless of whether he wants to stay.
We did offer him a new contract, he rejected it, if he's now looking elsewhere I doubt we'll offer him the same contract again.Mourinho's made it pretty clear we've offered him a new contract and he wants him to stay.
Nowhere does it say he's rejected it, he's just not accepted it. The offer is on the table.We did offer him a new contract, he rejected it, if he's now looking elsewhere I doubt we'll offer him the same contract again.
Looks like we may be pulling out. Guess that gives Pereira an opportunity to impress next season, if we don't go on to sign someone else.
I'd be surprised if our plan a was a 100 million player and our plan b is a bloke who has never broken into our first team squad in a meaningful way.
Why?Marouane Fellaini says hello.
