My tune will change if we get Ducker, Orny, Whitwell reporting on it. Until then, I just don't buy it.

The fact that he wears 10 doesn't mean a whole lot. At Groningen (seen him play live week in, week out) and Twente he never even played a game at CAM, always on the wing. I dont know how Soton used him, but at Ajax he regularly comes from the left wing too, maybe not always on the lineup sheet but in game he does, it's his best position.
Sure he can play CAM and he changes positions during the game often but he's a natural winger with a beauty of a cross. In the Serbian national team he's a winger too. Don't take shirt numbers too seriously. Isn't Ibra a 10 as well?
You’re not understanding me. Technique and dribbling are separate entities from being able to play when he’s being pressed. Technique and dribbling were two of Paul Pogba’s best attributes. He also wasn’t a particularly good player under the press.

Problem is people are analyzing these players in isolation and they maybe right, but for us they are going to be as you said many many many levels above our CM, which is worse than Fulham at this point.

Cos he's not that great. Brings far too little as a CAM and doesn't have the qualities top class centre midfielders have.
Has a very weird skillset for his body type, and is probably slower than Matic. Better than McTominay and Fred yay, but going nowhere with these kind of players.

I don't know if it's that easy. All the big italian clubs needed someone like Immobile and yet he remained at Lazio, the same could apply to Luis Alberto. Now I haven't paid much attention to Lazio lately so he SMS may have regressed or showed cause for worry but it's not that easy to take good Lazio players away.
He's a big midfielder that does his best work in the opposition box aerially.

I have seen him a lot, he isn't some midfielder to control the tempo of a game.
Immobile always struck me as a big fish in a small pond type of player and I think A lot of the big boys in Italy know that which is why they stood away.
If Immobile came to England I believe he would be a massive flop like in Dortmund.
He IS quality and I would not be against this at all. Crucially I think now, at £50m ish, the price is now fair.

98th percentile for progressive passes. He's a quality player.
Weird that a pretty sizeable amount of Serie A fans on Reddit think he’s incredible.
His best role would be the one Mctominay occupy, he is more composed on the ball but isn't as mobile, he'll get in the box and get goals and generally a big unit but he's lack of mobility could be an issue in a pressing system.
He doesn't dictate play either, a cross between Yaya Toure and Fellaini.

He absolutely doesn't lack mobility. He's a very good player at receiving the ball with his technical ability and has the power and physicality to run past people. He'd be brilliant in the PL.
No one is saying he's a playmaker, although he can do it, he's a great box-to-box player and would be an immeasurable upgrade on McTominay.
We really dont need another #8/creative midfielder.

Completely agree with your assessment. Also, Italy suits him fine since he moves like a tanker.
He is Pogba level mobility, he's a really big guy who doesn't run around the way more nimble players would.
