“Jesse and Anthony are big parts of our squad and when they went out, in the second half we didn't have enough movement,” Ole added at his press conference.

“We maybe need to find a different way of playing when Jesse and Anthony are unavailable.”

United needed him big time tonight.

Martial and Lingard's injuries exposed the vulnerability of the attacking play and the need for a proper plan B until the next manager can properly assess it.

Selling Fellaini was a careless move, could have been a possible triumph card tonight as Young, Mata started putting in aimless crosses to nobody.

Would just have made it easier for PSG to cut through our midfield. A single player wouldn't have a made a difference with that team performance.

Happy that ole realised we weren't the same 2nd half.

Fellaini is never the answer. We've moved on from hoofball.

No, the only mistake that was made is not selling Sanchez, Mata etc and all the other players that are not good enough to play for united.

Once we sell the players, this allows us to replace them with the correct caliber of players.

Come on. Please. I know you are not pleased with tonight, no one is, but Fellaini?

Depends how he would be positioned. If Fellani was used in midfield then it would not help. If we, despite people's disgust at the idea, used him up top as a target man to cause as much chaos as possible then who knows. He was useful to throw on when something is needed

Best plan B in the world would. Remember under Jose Mourinho , Real Madrid and Juventus forced to retreat back when Fellaini came on the pitch and He did made a difference. We beat Juventus and almost drew with Madrid. Both teams dominate us more than PSG did to us. Don't tell me a manager who has won 27 major trophies in his career , doesn't understand football.

You all here had short term memory by the way

It was a mistake. A mistake we didn't sell sooner. It was telling no big club showed interest and he ended up in China. I, for one, am glad we don't have to rely on him anymore. We survived without a Fellaini under Fergie and, if we want to get back to where we were, should be okay in the future.

I cannot believe how overrated he's become. It boggles the mind.

You are right to some extent. Nobody wanted to get in the box or had the height to get on some of those crosses tonight. At the same time though, I gave up on waiting for Fellaini to be that man long ago. When we got him from Everton I thought it was a great move for the reasons you mentioned. However he never panned out into that presence in the box we hoped for and certainly wasn't going to get better.

Even though he would have been useful in the last 20 minutes and no one can deny how many times hes been a rescue act i dont think Ole would have thrown him on as he wants to play the ball on the floor, maybe in next leg and we are going for broke...

Yeah right. Sacking Jose was a mistake too. White text.

It’s obvious considering Ole’s other comment on Sanchez that he’s running out of patience. Sanchez and Mata aren’t up to it anymore as replacements for where we want to be and it’s like flogging a dead horse.

It's right decision , but he was right about us as well. He said this team has no real quality compared to the team he has coached before. His porto chasing every ball like a madman , his Inter could defend for 5 hours and not conceded , his Madrid has the fastest counter attack ever. We have nothing , we are not a title challenger.

Fellaini would have done far more than Lukaku in the final minutes. Whether that means selling him was a mistake or not is up for debate.

The mistake was buying him in the first place, which came about from the mistake of hiring Moyes. Since then it's been a long line of mistakes. Selling him is one of the few things we've done right

United need to learn to win without playing well in a manner which doesn't rely on aiming for one lanky bloke's bonce

We have played more games in the last 5 years where chasing a game by throwing Fellaini up has done nothing than him actually changing the game (either by himself scoring or enabling someone else).

We had over a decade where we were known for quick incisive football but when it wasn't working there was no equivalent to Fellaini who was some sort of "if in emergency break glass" footballer. No we just raised the urgency, pushed more men up and tried to make our own luck.

Keeping Fellaini would have been counterproductive to evolving United. He's not the only one - there are a few others who must move on but he was the most pressing change.

Remember when we were 2-0 down against City who were in truly record breaking form? We eventually got back and beat them 2-3, making some of their fans in the stands cry.

Notice how Fellaini wasn't even on the bench that match.

Or we could just give Greenwood a chance so we can maintain our way of playing.

Agreed he could make a contribution, but let's just become the type of team who don't need to resort to chucking on the big man.

Happy days are coming. I believe.

Agree.

Their players would have ping ponged the ball around and moved to attack by the time Fellaini turned around.

Absolutely brilliant move to get ride of him and we need to be ruthless with few more as well.

Nice trolling if that was the intention.

While Fellaini offers us an aerial option like no other, it was about time we moved on from resorting to hoofall at the first sign of trouble.

And defending on set-pieces it was genious from Jose(i think) to have him there just to clear the ball which he did brilliantly..

But 11m also helps..

If Fellaini is the answer we're asking the wrong questions.

If anything, we need more Lingard-like players. We need to invest in depth of attack. Sanchez doesn't cut it anymore.

This just sends like a wind up. Why would you even go there without taking Lukaku into account .

No the mistake was not looking to buy anyone in January, Barcelona and PSG showed their intentions. Martial and Lingard's injuries showed we had no depth beyond those 2, mata and sanchez were so bad, so we learnt we have no depth, that is what happens when a board don't invest and try and spend very little to make the top 4, and handing out contracts to players not good enough so it saves eddie spending the leaches bank balance

No. Like. Yeah. But no. Thing is, we do need more but thats what we need to go buy innit.

It was a big mistake but people here are going to delude themselves it's not.

How could have Fellaini made a positive impact tonight? Lump it in the box and hope? His departure was step one to our recovery

Except we were actually lumping it in the box a lot tonight without any result because we were crossing to midguts as Mata and Sanchez.
