Sean Longstaff

They may be inclined to sell as Bruce is seemingly getting the money they make on transfers!

Would allow him to bring in some of his own players

Just curious... If Ole wants a British core, would be better Longstaff as DM rather than Rice?

Rice is vastly overrated and would cost £70m+, he's basically a younger Dier but double the price.

Is there anyone here that watches all United games, and can tell wether we should by Declan or Sean, or simply revert to Ravel? (See who I omitted here?)

Agreed. Nurture a shortstaff in the right environment under Ole and we may well see em grow into a longstaff.

I’m afraid we’ll end up short staffed. (Used up yet?)

Totally agree about Rice being overrated. I just noticed that Longstaff would cost 50m, I thought Rice would cost the same (but there are tons of players better than him that we could get).

BTW, I just mentioned Rice because of the "British core". I just want Maddison and Sancho if we are looking at that approach. Even Milenkovic could be better than Maguire. We should get the best available players. Sadly, we focus our interest in English players. I'm not against them, I just think we can invest the money in a better way.

The DM position is a big issue, Matic is finished. We need someone way better than Longstaff in holding midfield. Just take a look at Tottenham, they signed N'Dombele and they are linked with quality players.

I have no idea why we are not interested in "cheap" players like Alderweireld and Tierney, even Haller for 40m would have been a good replacement for Lukaku.

Which DM would you sign?

Prime relegation candidates. Lost the best manager they’ve had in years, lost their best player(s).
Longstaff should really think long and hard about where Newcastle are heading.

It ain’t up the table that’s for sure

We should really wait until next year, they'll get relegated and they'll sell him for a cut price fee.

He will have another year experience of the league and be ready to replace Matic.

I disagree. Lets get him now. If we don't and he has a good season next yare they may want 70+m for him. Don't forget Maguire at Hull

They aren't comparable to Leicester tbf. They are in dire states and need the money. Unless a takeover deal goes through I think they would sell next summer.

They just sold their best forward to Leicester and let another walk to China.

Ashley doesn't care.

Watched as many videos as I can on him. Someone please enlighten me. I really cannot see past his piss average ball control.
Can someone that has watched all 8 of his premier league appearances give me a good rundown of his pros and cons?
Anyone?

We need someone able to cover Matic this season. He's going to sign a new contract if he stays and won't be asking to move even if they get relegated. It's now or never with any such deal, but I expected United to move onto another target the second the toon came out with the whole 50 million fee. There's been very little credible news since, just rehashing on previous speculation.

I watch Newcastle games as I have a soft spot for them. I think he is composed on the ball and has good all-round fitness and an engine, tackles well and I think his passing is actually quite good. Good shot on him and very mature for his age. He reminds me of Michael Carrick when he was at Spurs. I think he will become a very good player and would be a very sensible addition by us, and I think he will surprise people that don't know much about him.

This has to be a prime opportunity for a cash plus player, or cash plus loan deal, surely.

Carrick wasn't the most physical central midfielder, is that lad more willing to get stuck in or is his game based on positioning and passing.

He’s definitely not afraid to get stuck in in my opinion. But his positional sense is very good too and I think he has a very good skill set for a young player.

dont know if any good but if ole thinks so offer 25 Mill and leave him there for the season

Problem with offering players is they’ll have to take a pay cut and deal with a very real possibility of getting relegated and taking another pay cut. I wouldn’t go there if I was them
Could be a good opportunity for some of the young lads to get some PL experience if they don’t make our EPL squad. Garner, Chong etc, on loan. Their wages won’t be an issue.

Loan them Axel would be best bet, he’d get great experience there and come back vastly improved ready for us. No chance jones/rojo etc will go up there

Don't think there is much chance of Rojo and Jones going anywhere for a while considering the injury records of both and can't see many clubs willing to pay the wages of either mate. Strange thing is Rojo has worse injury record yet from what I've read he is on £30,000 per week more mate. Crazy:wenger:

Yes, that’s another possibility. Just get a feeling Ole may want to keep him this season, unless we get Maguire.
