Europa League spot for the season after next, not a relegation battle? I'd like to have some of your positivity, mate!the more I think about this, the more I see 6th place looming...

why the hell does them being British make them a plus? This seems to be thing with Ole. I just want us to sign the best players we can (and we should be attractive to most) even if they come from the Moon
I'm also a fan of bringing in young and brittish but there are better options out there like Rice for example. Those are the types I want us to sign.
I looked on his twitter and there was a video from 1 month ago saying he's back training, running and kicking a ball. So I'd imagine he's back in full training now.Granted, I don’t know the specifics but pretty sure it wasn’t an ACL injury - that’s a 9-12 month layoff. Most likely medial ligament.

I would see our midfield starting off next season as Matic, Fernandes, Pogba. With Longstaff to take over from matic hopefully asap.So do you see our midfield once Pogba leaves and Matic is done consisting of McTominay and Longstaff.
Not a dig at you, I just wonder what fans are seeing because for me that wins us nothing. For me as back ups, they would be fine. But I would expect us to have a midfield the caliber of the likes of the top teams in our league and Europe.
Due to the homegrown rule that I believe will get even more stringent in coming years.why the hell does them being British make them a plus? This seems to be thing with Ole. I just want us to sign the best players we can (and we should be attractive to most) even if they come from the Moon
The feck he doesLooks more like Jordan Henderson than Carrick
McTominay's best form came when he was played in Herrera's role as a B2B, playing more advanced really suited his game a lot better than when we tried to shoehorn him in at DM. Longstaff's someone who plays deeper and is a much better technical footballer, there's a very big difference in all honesty. There's not much difference between the two. We need players who will be big improvements. Would rather pay a higher fee and get Rice.
You could fit both in the team, that sort of midfield would really suit a possession-based team. The feck he does
He’s similar to Garner if anything which makes me wonder why we’d buy him
He's only played 9 games mate. You can't judge by that.McTominay's best form came when he was played in Herrera's role as a B2B, playing more advanced really suited his game a lot better than when we tried to shoehorn him in at DM. + 42 for Blackpool. + 16 for Kilmarnock. He's only played 9 games mate. You can't judge by that.
Well, I'm judging what we've had to go off so far, so far he's shown to be good technically. You don't have to watch someone extensively to see if they're good technically or not. He's only played 9 games mate. You can't judge by that.
Which we are not.You could fit both in the team, that sort of midfield would really suit a possession-based team.

All speculation at this stage anyway.
It's a tricky one to call as he has so little experience in the Premier League, but if his YouTube clips are anything to judge by, he does seem to be a real talent.
He has played over 70 senior games on loan for Kilmarnock & at Blackpool last season, scoring 12 goals in the process, and some of those were screamers.
I suppose one way of looking at it, would you sign a 21 year old Carrick/Scholes/Beckham before they were established and became a household name with a huge price tag to match?
This could be a stroke of genius, but we shall just have to wait and see.....
You could say that about literally every player. Why would you look at it like that? There are no assurances that he'd even make it here yet alone be half as good as those players.

Googled him earlier today and saw this.. from over 3 weeks ago..Does anyone know if hes even running again?
You miss the point.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the point being, getting ahead of the curve.
Djemba Djemba had never proved his quality in the Premier league before he arrived.Which we dont know if we would be, because he could just as easily turn out to be an Eric Djemba Djemba or a Phil Jones. You listed only extremely positive results so of course the answer to that question is yes we'd love a 21 year old Giggs, Beckham or Scholes. But we have no idea if thats what he is. Chances are that he isnt as those players dont come around that often.

Jones has been very unlucky. Injuries have ruined him.
No guarantees with Longstaff but Newcastle fans say he's their biggest young talent coming through from the past 10 years. Martin Keown reckons he'll be better than Declan Rice. He tore Man City's midfield a new one in one of his first games for the Geordie's.
He's definitely worth a punt.
Neither has Longstaff. If we sign him hopefully he is worth a punt yes, but at no point should it be made out like hes going to be a Scholes, Beckham or Giggs.
Not even 10 premier league matches and suggesting he's like signing a 21 year old version of them. Crazy
Yet he wanted Gareth Barry to replace him..Benitez was keen on him. He essentially moulded Alonso into what he became - as good as he clearly was.
Longstaff is no household name, and far from a sure thing - but the basics are there to work from.
If attainable below 20m as papers suggest are in the region of our offers, it's worth a punt.
That 2008-09 was a tough one for Rafa, spare the Gareth Barry crazy moment.Yet he wanted Gareth Barry to replace him..
It's sad but it's true.If we can get him for around 20m. Not sure what the fuss is, he's clearly very highly rated. I reckon it's his name and gormless face putting people off.
