Sean Dyche | Sacked in the evening

Well he can't say he didn't deserve to be based on results but the timing is a bit shitty from the new owners, as is the statement they released.

Interested to see who is lined up and if we go with a short term appointment or someone we would have tried to target in the summer.

He got some good results this season, albeit plucky underdog type results. Do you think the Everton squad is capable of much more?

Can see you regretting this decision come end of the season.

Really hasn't been many good results this season. There have been a lot of awful ones though including the two defeats vs Bournemouth and Villa back to back where we were 2-0 up and also being the only club to lose against Southampton.

Also not scored in 11 of 19 games.

I know people here seem to think Dyche is the master of steadying a ship and saving a club from relegation, he did well in that respect last season but this season has been absolutely terrible. This isn't a Moyes at West Ham situation where we are sacking a manager in a position where he's doing a decent job. We and he has been very poor this season.

I don't expect this current squad to suddenly burst ahead and do what Newcastle managed with Howe but I do think it's capable of winning a few more games than Dyche has managed to this season and also play a bit better football than Dyche has too.

Yeah to be fair the draws against the other relegation candidates don't mean much if you're losing to bottom half teams. You'd rather beat Leicester and Southampton and not draw with Newcastle or Chelsea.

It's fair to say you're never going to build anything with Dyche.

Fair enough decision but the timing is odd. Can't have been many occasions where the manager is sacked 3 hours before a game.

Who do you think it will be @SilentWitness ?

By the timing it looks like someone just got available and said yes off the record, with Everton moving now, rather than after winning the game tonight.
Lopetegui is 16/1 with the bookies but I find him more probable than bigger favorites.

Harsh sacking, that. They weren't on a bad run if you add wins to it.

Gary O'Neil might not be a bad shout. He improved Bournemouth and Wolves, had them playing decent football and was unfortunate not to be given the funds to bolster Wolves' squad after they sold Neto and Kilman.

Fonseca (was at Roma) is high on the odds along with Moyes.

Yeah was a weird situation at Wolves with O'Neil. Did a very good job initially but you'd have to be wary of the way it ended. Hopefully he's learned from it.

I think you’re aiming a bit too high with those names.
Xavi and Allegri probably. Terzic and managers of his ilk would perhaps be tempted if it were the summer though due to the project on offer (assuming we stayed up). Obviously the position we are in makes this appointment more tricky though.

I don't think O'Neil is that bad but I also think we need to try and aim a bit higher than that. I think Dyche needed to go but also if you're going to sack him then it needs to be for someone a bit better.

Bournemouth and Wolves fans seemed to be united in not rating him at all
