Seamus Coleman

I made a Coleman thread in the transfer forum ages ago and was told I was a fool. I think some of the normal dismissive comments about players from lower teams were made.

Great player would be a great addition but I think he's too good to sit on the bench behind Raf.

Tbf it's only this season that he has been a cracking player throughout the whole year. What's great about him is that he is just as solid defensively as he is attacking wise which is rare for full backs these days.

Potential was there for anyone who actually looked years ago. I spoke to a lot of avid Sligo Rovers fans too and they always felt he was destined for great things.

He's good alright. Another season or so at Everton and he'll move on to Tottenham or Arsenal.

Of course it was there, but football fans are fickle and if a player doesn't show their potential by the time they are 21 they're written off these days which is stupid. It's amusing as playing him as a RM was actually restricting him. He's been much better in the RB position and he's only 24.

Best thing about him is that he only cost like 150k.

Good player but do not want. Coleman treading on Rafa's toes could make me dislike Moyes very quickly.

Of course we could have Coleman on the bench. But we'd have to buy him first and most likely we arent going to

Oh, it's not going to happen and I don't think it would be good for either party really. Would be a great buy for either Spurs or Arsenal though IMO both in terms of adding to their defensive solidity and their attacking play.

He's no better than Rafael, but he's not far off him. He will probably play for a top five team eventually.

Great player? fecking hell.

When Moyes pushed him to into the full back position, he really became a great player. I have been so impressed with him, he could have made the right back position his at a Club like United. If not for Rafael, I would have loved it if we signed him.

Take it you only saw him as a winger?

I've see him as both. He's improved this season from being pretty dreadful before. Great player is a massive exaggeration.

Been saying it for yonks. Best player for ROI (not saying much), could be a big star. Has a cool head, gets forward well and has a great defensive brain. Anyone who thinks its a stretch to say he has been great this season quite simply doesn't understand football.

Indeed. Would be good enough for Arsenal now; he is better than both Sagna and Jenkinson.

I remember his debut, came on against Spurs (I think) and had a great game. I had never heard of him before that, but it was obvious that he had a lot of potential. I think he stagnated for a period of time when Moyes tried to play him as a winger but he has really improved this season and is now one of the best RB's in the league.

He won't leave us, and if he does it will be when he is around 27/28. We have another 3 or 4 seasons in him yet.

Yeah, more than likely. He'll cement his position as one of the top right backs in the league over the coming couple of seasons though, and I can imagine some clubs will come knocking.

Anyone who uses the word great to describe Seamus Coleman as a footballer doesn't understand language. If he is great we need new words for people that actually are great.

He's gotten gradually better this season and finished up in great form, was shit last season and was exciting the season before that. Will be keen to see how he gets on next season.

You are a sad wee pedantic man.

Yeah, he's a great player, but Rafael is in my opinion the best right back in the league, and possibly europe.
