Scottish Football 2024/25

If they help get Big Ange the sack they will be on cloud 9. If they get battered by Spuds and lose the final it will be Clement out.
I actually think Clement survives 2 defeats ( tonight and Sunday ) but if he loses in Jan against us, I am not sure he survives that.

Big few weeks for him, no doubt.

Hard to say on tonight. Spurs are equal parts brilliant and bad. Play like they did against City and we're going to struggle, play like they did against Bournemouth and we should win. We do tend to play better in Europe, but the way Spurs play could cause us problems. We'll do well to get a result with Hagi and Danilo both unavailable given how well both have been playing recently.
I think Danilo is your best striker, be a blow for yee if he is out on Sunday. Dessers hasn't shown, as yet, he can be trusted in big games. He ain't clinical enough.

They're just both unregistered for Europe. They'll be fresh and raring to go on Sunday.

Ah fair enough,

You confident for Sunday?

Only thing I am confident about is that it will be a tight game. I think Celtic will nick it but it will be close.

Celtic really poor, looked tired, mental resolve got us over the line. I knew the game would be super tight.

Not sure I'd call it mental resolve. Id say it was the lottery of penalty shootouts coupled with the cowardice of Rangers midfield and forwards to let a left back and goalkeeper be among the first 5 penalty takers.

I get your point, and, to be fair, it has merit, but when u have won what we have won domestically in recent seasons, you find a way. We have been a tired looking team for about 3 weeks now, particularly in midfield, today, we again found a way despite being the slightly inferior team over the course of 120 mins.

Put it this way, if Rangers were slightly inferior to us today, we'd win it in normal time but they weren't. They were better than us.

Also, pens being at Rangers end and all 5 of our pens were excellent when our players had to face a support trying to put them off, it absolutely didn't phase our players.

I think based on all of the above, we showed mental resolve. We'll agree to differ, however.

It's a sore 1 for yee, today. Yee put so much in to it, it's harsh of any team losing a cup final on pens particular when yee played reasonably well.

It's always sore when you are on the receiving end of an Old Firm defeat, there's no getting away from that.

However, 3 or 4 weeks ago, if you would have asked me a score prediction, i'd have said we'd be doing well to match the 3-0 defeat from earlier in the season, such was the difference between the 2 teams. Even more so when our only semi decent defender ruled out. So to come out of yesterdays game at least a match for Celtic was a pleasant surprise, even if it ended not the way i wanted.

I'll reserve judgement to see if these improved performances are just a bit of a purple patch under Clement, or if he has finally got us on some sort of upward trajectory. That's the main thing i want to see from the season going forward, improved performances over a consistently decent sized period. That at least tells us there's a platform there to build with going forward.

A lot of valid points you make. Personally though, I was never confident about hammering yee due to upturn in form of yee and we look a tired team. Also, very rarely in cup finals between the clubs is there a convincing winner.

The issue for Clement is clear as day, tactically, it's the easiest thing in the world to set up to nullify a team as he did yesterday and Rangers were brilliant at nullifying us, to be fair, ( although we played in to your hands by moving the ball far too slowly ) but when u play I fervor teams, nullifying better teams is not how the set of your team will be tactically. Yee have to prove yee can carve open inferior teams on a consistent basis who set up in a low block. That's Clements challenge.

It's a very different skill set required, tactically, compared to how yee set up yesterday.

By and Large, yee set up to counter attack and defend in a mid block whilst allowing us to have possession in our own defensive 3rd and press us when we came in to middle of the park. Its how yee scored your 1st goal.

As I say, yee need to prove yee can deal with completely inferior teams on a regular basis who set up in a low defensive block. A very different challenge to yesterday's game.

Yee are improving though.

We won again today - 1-0 at home to Elgin City. A good win that sees us stay in 4th in the table, but means that we are now behind Elgin on goal difference.
