Scott McTominay | Transfer discussion not performance discussion

After the transfers of Caicedo and Rice I think we're well within our right to ask for 45 mill for Mctominay.

Value is decided by what someone would pay, though. And I'm not exactly seeing a line forming for McTominay at that price.

And that is what gets consistently overlooked, West Ham are only team I can see paying big for him and even they seem to have moved on after being quoted 40-45m.

I think half a dozen teams in the league would view him as good addition to their squad and potential starter so would pay 20-25 for him but not 35-45, which seems like type of fee we are demanding.

45m is a bit of a pipe dream and I suspect he’ll eventually go for significantly less next summer.

Once the league starts and the teams start panicking we’ll get plenty of interest in McT. If not, he’s a very useful player to have. Although yeah, his stock will never be higher than it is now with the excellent displays for Scotland.

I don’t understand why certain posters get away with the constant wumming while the rest are cautioned

Please stay on the topic of this thread and stop your derailing and personal attacks.

If Caicedo is going for 110million, McTom is worth about the same IMO.

We are well within our rights to ask a billion pounds paid upfront for him, but also the other clubs are well within our right to say ‘feck of’ to us.

He won’t go for 45m. There is a single club interested on him, and for that price there are better alternatives.

Then why the only club who is interested on him, is not interested anymore when quoted 40-45m?

Why Chelsea and Liverpool are not planning to sign him for 110m?

Liverpool spunked £100mill on Darwin Nunez, Chelsea haven't exactly had the most stalwart signings of late either, have they?

The 'Ammers are getting Alvarez for a reported £35mill and he's about four times the player Rice is. Fred is going for a paltry £15mill. The world works in mysterious ways.

He's been wumming in this thread for a while now, don't take him seriously.

I would have rather kept Fred and sold mct for around the 30m mark but if we keep mct I hope we give him more chances to play as an 8

I don't believe United are actively trying to sell McTom.

West Ham made a bid, which was rejected straight away...but I don't think United were trying to be cute or call anyone's bluff.

If nobody bids for Scott it won't be seen as a failure within the club. He offers a lot as a squad member.

Here's to another season of barely making the team and watching his value decrease even more till he leaves for 10mill or a free when his contract runs out

He’s only on £60k a week, it’s not like we need to free those wages and he’s a fine player to have around the squad. Strong mentality and the kind of profile ETH likes, by all accounts. I think he’s still got room to improve, even at 26.

I think we have made a big blunder here. We know what we are getting with him and its not much so we have turned down a handy sum for him, we won't likely sign another midfielder and we will suffer when Casemiro, who isnt getting any younger gets injured or is suspended, in a season where competition is likely going to be stiffer than ever. I hope we won't live to regret this.

He's one of the only players we can sell at around 30-40 mill that would be pure profit and help us in terms of being able to spend better next season and beyond

Can't understand why we wouldn't do that for an average player that's mostly going to sit on the bench

Oh ffs. I got my hopes up. And now we probably won't sign another midfielder.

Content with that. He's a decent box-to-box player, always has a goal in him, can come in for cup games, good attitude and work ethic and more importantly Ten Hag seems to like him.

My opinion of this window does hinge on the signing of another mid, we need a more defensive minded one in there. I don’t actually mind McTominay staying, but not at the expense of another body coming in.

Don't say that, you might spoil the myth that he's absolutely rubbish and not just been played out of position.

Not getting a back up DM will be a blunder of epic proportions. This is why we will never be competitive under this ownership and management as they will never truly finish a rebuild. The manager is doing well but he doesn't have the tools and even though we have spent much we are still one or two profiles short in the squad. With CL and the Cups we need a viable DM option, if don't get that one in because we chose to keep Scot heads must roll.

Shame. Especially if him leaving would have meant further strengthening.

Who cares?
Sadly a sign the playing side is still not being run as efficiently as it could be. People come up with the most tenuous reasons why he's useful or why turning down around 35m was a sensible decision. The day he goes is the day we've actually evolved, which is why he's a point of interest, setting aside impact on our sales . Leadership starts with ensuring that we have consistent technical profiles across the first team squad, particularly for players how have now developed rather than u23s coming in and forming. Would City keep him? Would Liverpool play him and not cash in on him with any kind of offer over 30m if he suddenly appeared in their squad? He's a symptom of Glazers continued existence, odd as that sounds - we're still too tolerant towards 2nd-class standards in and out of possession.

Good, rather we keep him then sell him for below what he's worth. West Ham can't cough up at least £35m that's on them.

As a back-up B2B midfielder he'll do a job in my opinion. Feel like we should try transition him into someone we can bring on if we're struggling to put the ball in the back of the net... twice last season we had him to thank for actually scoring a goal when nobody else could hit a barn door.
