Scott McTominay | Napoli

O'Shea gets so much grief. Amazing squad player - could play so many positions. Look up the Figo nutmeg and the arsenal chip.

Am I giving O'Shea grief?

He was a very loyal servant to the club and an excellent rotation option that could could cover a number of positions, who also gave us some memorable moments.

However, he never cemented a starting spot in the team, which is why the comparison was drawn, as I don't think Fergie would have been regularly starting McTominay in his midfield either.

I think we sometimes get too obsessed with players that do well after doing rubbish with our clubs and forget that sometimes people are just much better in certain systems, environments and leagues. McTominay is just completely suited to the environment he finds himself in now. Conte is a great manager in terms of identifying that. I remember when Victor Moses was phenomenal in that league title win despite being far below those levels whenever he played for anyone else.

Serie A has been a step below the PL for a good while too, which seems to get ignored.

Just be thankful you didn't take the name of Andy Cole in vain. Five different posters will get in with comprehensive dissertations on why you're a cnut before the next time you can refresh the caf.

Modern day fans. See a goal and will cry about letting him go, wont talk about the chance he missed from 2 yards before that though, or watch the full 90 minutes.
Or even think about how he performed for Utd

It's is a bit worrying how people forget that he scored 10 goals for us last year, 7 in the league. He is on course for something similar at Napoli and playing a similar way.

Sancho has despite the myth has actually scored and created goals in a United shirt. 6 G and 3 A in 1700 PL minutes in his last season here while 2 goals and 4 assists in 1100 PL minutes at Chelsea, and 2 goals 3 assists at Dortmund 950 BL minutes, it's a bit of a wash really.

In relative terms McTom and Fred were our best combo and kept us near the top under Ole and ETH. We lost Fred and dropped to 8th, for me he was a huge part of our energy in midfield for 3rd place under ETH's first season, now McTom has gone we're 13th and miss those goals/points he'd help bring despite his other problems. We haven't replaced them well in an attempt to improve or have young/old players that can't do the job to keep us top 4 top 6 and now sadly top 10.

Eriksen spent his best years at Spurs, flogged himself to death then moves to Italy and picks up a title. Plenty of good performing players at Chelsea, Arsenal, United could move to another league to pick up a trophy such is the hold City and Pool have had. Kane will be another probably. Trippier did the same, flogged himself at Spurs, was seen as past it and knackered but then picks up a La Liga title.

What people should really cry about in this thread is the fact he plays effectively as a second striker because Napoli have a midfield duo of Lobotka-Anguissa - combined transfer fees of 40million euros and the latter was even a loan with option to buy from a PL club

United's best midfield options, one of whom you just spent 50 million euros on, would be bolted to the bench at Napoli
