What an awful cameo. fecking dreadful.

Actually did better than last week. We still need 2 midfielders.

I actually feel sorry for him. He’s out of his depth and he’s playing like he knows it as well. He’s playing like someone who knows he’s going to be replaced.

When he first came on he was our best midfielder today which was a fiasco. But then he got caught on the ball with a loose touch whilst being pressed and played a crap pass to nobody. So he was probably no better than the rest and Brentford had stopped trying as hard by then anyway 4-0 up

Very weird this thread has more comments post game than the Fred one. One came off at HT with us 4-0 down and the other on. You wouldn't tell which was which by looking at the threads.

He had a turn under pressure from 2 players that was beautiful. Looked like a prime Roy Keane out there

So, a simple way if looking at things was: our midfield looked even worse with McTominay out of it.
No one looked like they could receive the ball.
No one looked capable of holding position.
No one looked capable of holding the middle.

Almost like McTominay actually does that when he plays.

Brentford didn't put anywhere near the effort in the second half. They were 4 up and it was hot. They were in training mode in the second half. They didn't even press much in the second half.

This.

Even then, he still managed to cock up in a few situations that could’ve cost us. That period of play where he completely missed the ball when trying to control it in front of our box and then proceeded to take the guy out was comical.

He also played a couple of passes to the advert board. He’s still just as useless even in a situation where the opposition have stopped trying.

You've been replaced in the team and without you the team is losing 4-0 at half time. You get brought on. It's an absolute free hit. You just literally have to not shit yourself and roll around in it to look like a world beater in comparison.

And he put in a fecking good contender for worst player on the pitch even amongst that. How the feck?

Knew this was going to come up.

Am sure Frank told his team to take it easy in the second half, can just hear him saying that!
Don't worry lads, take it easy.

They done exactly the same in the second half as they did the the first, hit us on the break, the difference was we actually had someone to break the play up in the middle.

But of course, that'll never be recognised on here, so carry on regardless.

Sigh I don't know what to say.

That 1st touch/leg breaker combo... That floater pass into the players tunnel...

Just...be better man.

But why would they risk a high tempo when they don't need it? It is not a stupid thing for the manager to ask - it is actually sensible. We were never coming back from four down.

The heat was horrid today, also, which gives more reason not to waste energy when it is not needed. I don't see how it was the same - they pressed our players all over the pitch in the first half. The second half, they were positioned far deeper.

The fact that this abomination of a footballer is still playing games for us shows just how much we've fallen as a football club. I genuinely don't think he's even Championship level.

They didn't have a high tempo to start with!

They just pushed high. Once you breached the front four you were up against their defence.
Nothing high temp about it, it was as high tempo as our movement.

I implore you to watch it again and you'll see.

Two games and he should’ve really had a red in both. Impressive

He’s shit ETH has already realised that but midfield will be shit with or without him unless we buy new players. Not much else to say.

Seriously? You watched that game and think Brentford put in as much effort in the second half as they did in the first?

You think he would have caused De Gea to not make that stupid mistake on the first goal? Or him being on the field would have stopped De Gea making that hospital pass to Eriksen for the second goal? Or that he would have made a difference on the fourth goal (when he would've been further up the field and wouldn't have got anywhere near the play)? He might have made a difference in the third goal simply because he's tall, but that's about it.

the touch and yellow card were absolutely criminal.

then he goes and puts the ball out of play.

out of his depth completely and its actually worrying the ONLY reason he would've been brought on instead of donny was because of his height.

obviously he isnt at fault for the loss, but he will never be the player we need to get us out of this mess.

De Gea, Dalot , Maguire, Shaw, Mctominay, Rashford - becoming huge problems

Bruno is a handful of games away from being added to that list, Sancho too infact.

Yeah, you know what, I know what's going to happen without things actually happening, it's a talent of mine.

Feck me. Are you really going to claim that Brentford stepped off in the second half? Are you really going to claim that they didn't press as high up in the second half as they did the first (answer...they did).

Who knows what difference McTominay would have made in the first half, that's impossible to say, but I know for sure he would have made ground to cover what's needed, unlike the midfield out there today.
This is the reason he has been played consistently manager to manager, as that what he does.
He is a very tactical, very astute player despite the so called knowledge of many others.

This. No matter how long he's been at the club, no matter who he's played for, he's never been good enough nor will ever be.

It's not. In this thread you can criticize the player without going too far but today what can be said about Fred that is civil?

Standard performance from him. Hands down the worst player I can remember who made 100+ apps for the club. Guy has no talent whatsoever to be a footballer .

He is a total disaster. We just need to get rid of him, he's a red card walking. It's incredible that he's not been sent off yet.

Don't understand how a supposed midfielder can aimlessly pass the ball out of play under not pressure so often. More than welcome in squad for his efforts, but get the feck out of the starting XI.

He launched into the game at 100mph and with some of the heaviest touches I've seen a midfielder make. It was like that clip of David James playing up front.

He's got two left feet and they're both made of bricks.

Playing because he's tall , that's what we've become and Fred was just as bad today fml

He actually did quite well for 20-25 mins with some nice sharp passes and turns on the ball before the comedy began.

McTominay is rubbish but can we not see the amount of times the team refuses to cross but pass it sideways.

What do you mean become, it was the same ages ago with Fellaini starting instead of Ander for Mourinho. We've been this way since we got rid of LVG

Guess I blocked that out of my memory , we all need that flash thingy from men in black.

Yep. Did well at first, but then showed us why he has no future here.

It is going to funny when he starts next week, but given the height that Liverpool possess might have to happen, especially if Martinez continues to start. Dependant on any incoming transfers of course but I am not sure that Rabiot will go straight into the team in that type of fixture even if they can get it done.

Thought he helped us settled and very good at bringing the ball up. But his passing was just more dreadful than usual.
