He can't put a fecking cross in for fecksake and failed to track the runner for the first goal.

He was found wanting on both goals. Tough lesson for him.

Don't want to be harsh on the lad but what are his qualities? He's got size but what exactly does he offer?

He seems to do very little off the ball I've noticed. And with the ball he passes it mostly to the opposing team, Bristol game that is. Imo not yet first team material, time will tell.

Looks to be the Tyler Blackett midfield equivalent

Will end up at Norwich or Barnsley.

I see another Cleverly when I see McTominay plays.
He does the simple things, but that's all he does. I don't see him making the first team.

Not seen anything promising of him to make it here in his first team displays so far, I think Mourinho is just trying too hard to fit youth into his system.

Not going to judge fully too early though.

Didn't track the runner twice and they scored from both, needs a loan spell in January to see if he can improve.

He was crap but can't say too much. Still showed more awareness than Pogba and Rashford at times...

Looked overwhelmed with the tempo of the game at times and didn't offer much on the ball while lacking the experience defensively to play with Pogba.

I still don't see a player in him, hope I'm wrong mind

Don’t wanna be knee jerk or write off young players but just don’t see a man united player there. Apart from his height and keeping it simple with little 5-10 yard passes, what does he actually do. The games he’s played so far, not got involved.

Championship level player at this point.

Shouldn't be wearing a Man Utd first team shirt.

Exactly this, and shouldn’t be starting or playing for us at all. Maybe at home, but not away when we’re playing for one of the two trophies we can win this season.

Start real Premier League-players and bring him on when we need energy or lead 2-0. He is here because he’s young, from the UK and happened to find himself in our reserve team - he is just a statistic for Mourinho to bring up at a later stage.

Average performance tonight, but no problem, still a young player and this will happen from time to time.

he's been impressive up to now and we really closed the game out against West Brom when he came on

some on here being very hasty

He's another midfielder who can do quite well on the individual level (which I actually think was the case tonight), but I don't know if he's capable of providing the quality that we should expect from our midfield. A bit like Fellaini in that regard, except Fellaini's upside is quite a bit higher once he gets into either box.

But Mourinho is disrespecting our traditions if he don't play yoof. Say many of our fans. I think that has something to do with it.

I personally don't care about young players right now in our transition. But looks like Mourinho is being forced into it and so has to play with what he has.

I thought he actually did well in the first half, but whether it was fatigue or inexperience, was sort of at fault for both goals.

How tall is he by the way? Swear he looked Ibra's height when they were celebrating the goal.

I think he's an incredibly average player. Getting his chances because he's solid in most things, 21 I think, and large enough physically. Talent wise, meh. Not at all anything we should be thinking about for the future.

Where's our young Pogba instead or a young tall Ray Wilkins.....

Some of you guys have no eyes for players. His ability is so clear. For one look at his technique in tight spaces when being pressed. Also look at his awareness of his passing options in a crowded midfield. If his name was casimiro or fernandinho you would be purring about him. He wasn't responsible for both goals? Rojo was at fault for both! The centre back should have read the run and been closer! I thought he played OK tonight, we generally controlled midfield after the first 30 minutes when we got the measure of Bristols tactics. This kid has fewer than 10 appearances and didn't look like a kid. He's going to be a very good player.

He looked really tired coming to the end of the game and then for the goal.

Another average "talent" who plays in the team just because he is from United academy like Cleverley or Gibson. Feck, at least Gibson had a good shot in him. This guy has nothing special. Will probably end up in a midtable team in Premier League.

Harsh, but totally agree. There is NO room for sentiment at Manchester United. He is just playing because Mourinho happened to find him in the academy, he’s good for the stats. Today we should have played Herrera given that Pogba is back, he won’t start against Leicester anyway.

It’s problematic that we don’t have a better player than McT on our bench in the Premier League. When fielding him, we even the odds between a PL-team and a Bristol City.

I'll second this. Some of the posts on here make me wince.

I have to completely disagree. I've watched him since he was in the U23s and he's never stood out. He's done well to not let José down with his few appearances so far but he'll do well to forge himself a PL career.

He has way more ability than cleverley. Cleverley had zero pressing resistance, mctominay shields the ball very well. Hes also bigger which helps and defensively a lot better than cleverley.

Or maybe you're one of those overrating another mediocre squad player of ours? I'd go with that one.

He was really poor tonight, looked a passenger at times and got bullied. He could really do with a loan in the Championship to toughen him up.

I rather start Tuanzbe in midfield than him or even bring back Fosu Mensah.

Came in to say I was surprised by his quick feet and ability to get out out right situations. Surprised to see such harsh criticisms. Meh...

All the people throwing hissy fits when he is compared to Cleverley  He'll be extremely lucky if he ends up as good. He's never been even near the top talent in our academy. He is bang average best. CM yet he had one of the fewest touches and passes completed in our side in the first half. He's completely lost most of the time.
