Did well, wouldn’t be against him starting Sunday, as I would allow us to match Chelsea in midfield and have Herrera man marking Hazard.
McTominay is a curious case, because no one had hopes for him to really become a player, and suddenly Mourinho, who has an awful reputation for playing and fostering youth, after he lets A.Pereira go on loan, sees something in him and actually uses him in the Champions League, of all! If he gets him right and indeed McTominay becomes, over time, a true United player, even if only a squad useful one, Mourinho destroys the myth.
Yet no one has done that.People will still somehow credit van Gaal with discovering him, because he once whole his hand in training or called out his name loud during academy game or something.

Absolutely. God knows he's been given enough of a chance to show us what he's made of. If he can't put in more than a 7 out of 10 performance in the Champions League against the current Portugese double winners in his second start for us, get rid.

He didnt want him to go on loan. If Pereira stayed it's likely he would be the one getting the game time.
Lindelof is in a different situationThis. No one mentioned the two times he got nutmegged. If that was Lindelof tho.
Just the way people were praising van Gaal over the moon for giving chance to young players and crediting him with everyone Barcelona and Bayern had ever promoted before United, yet Mourinho hardly ever gets any credit for giving debuts and gets a lot of stick for sending out young players on loan.Dont get it
So, A.Pereira started games for us at #6 and #8, never at #10 or even on the wings, but still Mourinho would play him there, sure.To be honest, if Perieria stayed, he'll be a 2nd first choice after Mkhi or Mata and maybe fight for earning first choice starter if Mkhi and Mata are out of form. Mctominay and Perieria are different.
think Mctominay fecked his girl back in school and he never got over it.
He said he didn't want him, but still allowed him. You describe it like the player has the last word. And not only would he get McTominay's minutes and starts, but more, he would probably allow Mourinho to variate to a three man midfield more often, for instance, at Huddersfield and in the next away game.He didnt want him to go on loan. I know, the times have definitely changed. I remember being excited about Cleverley. McTominay has about the same sort of standing amongst his youth side contemporaries as Cleverley had amongst his - not a star, not a duffer, never really expected to break into the first team - but his technical basics are a different story.
The player does have the last word as Mourinho wants players who are happy and 100% committed. He said similar after Schneiderlin asked to leave. He said he didn't want him, but still allowed him. Imagine Klopp said that about Coutinho, the laughs! Mourinho just wants the players concentrated, he doesn't respect those who aren't ready to fight for a spot, so he lets them go. That particular policy of him cost Chelsea Lukaku and de Bruyne, so…The player does have the last word as Mourinho wants players who are happy and 100% committed. If I remember correctly youth team watchers were calling Cleverly the next Scholes before he made his debut. His failure was one of the biggest disappointments in the youth setup in recent years going of the hype around him then
I sense he has much more to offer attackingly, quick turns and passes forward, etc. Might see him free himself in the CSKA or the Bristol League Cup game, if he gets another chance, since our midfield will probably be recovered by then.Very controlled performance. Usually when youngsters get a chance in the main team they are full of energy and running because they want to impress everyone. So, I have mixed feels about him. On one hand he has not shown anything really extraordinary but on the other hand he has kept things simple, has been disciplined, followed the managers instructions and is going about things slowly. Can see why Mourinho likes him. Think even LVG would have taken a liking to him, even above the more obvious talent of A. Pereira.
Also why bother to read or understand the post when you can act like a sarcastic little teenager. He is not a special talent and there is nothing wrong in that, maybe he works hard and grows into one, but right now or even in youth squads he was ever considered as a special talent like, gomes/pogba/Morisson/Fletcher/Oshea.Absolutely. So original!
Play nice lads!not really, he certainly wasn't the first by all accounts.

He was moved there because of no available strikers to play for the U23s, if I recall it.Considering the kid was a 5ft 6 inch striker a season and a half ago, I'd say he's doing pretty well to start in the Champions League for Manchester United's midfield.

Can't understand some of the criticism. This is only his 2nd start, he looks composed and confident, if he keep at it and word hard he can make it here, especially by being a solid squad player that we can rely to. He is not fancy but does the basics well and seem he is not fazed by pressure which is a big bonus for such a young lad. Every squad needs players like him, hopefully he will continue to develop and get better and better !!

I also have watched Mctominay in reserves and he dint impress in 20 odd games he has played there, i think he had growth problems too and was injured alot. Still i and i can say many reserve watchers would not have expected him to make this step up.
