But we spent a heap last summer? You hardly expect us to spend £100m+ every transfer window?
I don’t think spending £100m + is the same as having some money for reinforcements when we are clearly doing well on the season. If we wernt skint we would’ve had a better January.

We do have very low cashflow currently. We are a multi billion pound company so we are not "skint" but we also don't have owners who are willing to float our cashflow like some clubs do.

I do have to laugh when people say this. A good first-teamer at our level is easily 60-70m, if not more. 100m is not what it was 20 years ago.

Every club does this it isn't exclusive to United, you think Chelsea have shelled out all this up front?
That’s not the same thing. Every club pays in instalments, but you can’t buy players without paying a portion up front, for the most part. It’s well documented either way.

If this is true, it’s really a vile and dirty thing to do.
I’ll try to find the link. But there was one where a journalist I think Telegraph, wrote “this is turning out to be quite an enjoyable World Cup, are we allowed to write that? “

Its very simple. If you find the Qataris buying United is too much. Stop supporting United if you feel so strongly against it. Its as simple as. Thats about the only thing you have control over -- unless you happen to have £5--6billion spare sitting around. But I am sure we can find a few people whinging about you as a potential owner too.

There is way too much virtue signalling going on this thread.

Do you like the Glazers as owners?

Beautiful news. Even more great after the vile media campaign against Qatar during the World Cup where British journalist were told not to report good news. That’s what I call a moral win.

But morality aside. Funds funds funds.

ffs

Inappropriate Behavior
Nothing would make me happier than to see them taking a slight detour to the Saudi embassy on the way to dropping Joel and Av off at the airport as soon as the documents are signed.

If you're able to think about it solely from the perspective of a fan of a football team, sure. I can't compartmentalise it like that. To me, seeing the club I've supported since childhood become a PR-front for a dictatorship is a far worse 'sentence' than seeing it being used as a cash-cow by some billionaires.

Look, I had pictures of Martin Buchan, and Gordan McQueen on my walls as a kid.

I used to look forward in July/August for this:

Trust me, as I mentioned earlier, folks here seem to think that supporting a football club reflects on your morals. Your identity. It doesn't.

One grows out of this as one matures. I had the same moral outrage over the first Million-pound transfer or even Keano asking & getting 60k/week.

You come to compromises -- like when Cantona kungfu kicked a racist fan. But over time, I went back to loving Cantona.

This is life. Many of you will find this out in time.

If only.... I will buy the bone saws on ali express and ship it there.

Agree with your last point, but it's really anything but simple.

Stop supporting United and then what? Pick another team? Root against the real heart of soul of this club - the players? Forget the history? Burden my children, who are now getting into United, with my own politics that they don't care about?

Anything but simple I'm afraid.

State sponsored, oil club, sports washing Manchester United.
Feel sick tbh.

You are not THE blueprint on growing older. feck me the ego on you.

So but I simply refuse to use supporting United as a moral judgement of who I am as a person. Nor will I be wasting time over something that I have ZERO control over. That's a lesson in life.

Why? The guy is telling fans who are unhappy about the potential new owners to stop supporting the club.

With the context that he won't and is just tired of the "virtue signalling" as he put it. Yet you are acting as though he insinuated that HE would stop supporting the club if he didn't like the owners which was the complete opposite of what he was getting at.

Its not simple. But to worry or pontificate over something that you have no control over -- other than stop supporting United are your choices -- is pointless especially when its been going on & on for a couple of hundred pages. Same old points been repeated over & over & over again.

Qatari's will be taking over this club and fans may get used to it.

If they are in it then they'll probably will. Actually the FFP rules are making things more likely as it had ended their option of buying a pub team (ex Newcastle and Shitty) and turn them into world beaters.

The 'I wouldn't want us to be buying the likes of Mbappe' stuff is funny. Mbappe is a professional footballer and needs to be playing his football somewhere. Someone has to buy him. And normality states that it should actually be a Manchester United rather than a PSG or Manchester City. There is nothing unusual, unjust or immoral about the biggest club in the world with the biggest revenues buying the best players. It's not the same as an irrelevant League One club that cannot fill its complimentary stadium buying Haaland.

Some people seem to have forgotten who we are. Even if we 'went mad' and started buying a lot of top players - we are Manchester United. If we shouldn't be doing it, who should? Newcastle? Real Madrid bought Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema in one summer. It made sense to everyone because they are Real Madrid. Not Atletico Madrid. Nobody will bat an eyelid at any sort of injustice if we were to buy Mbappe. This is the stage he belongs on. Not at a fake club born in 1975 that has him, Neymar and Messi up front.

I personally look forward to our new Qatari overlords and think Mbappe and Haaland will link up very well with Rashford.

Yes it is a joke.

Awesome, good for you. Now stop forcing your own shitty takes on everyone else. That's a lesson in life.

Are the Qatari royal family Chelsea season holders? Else they are not true Manchester United fans.

I didn’t insinuate that he would stop supporting the club? I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

If he’s tired of listening to people talk about morals, he’s welcome to not read it. For the record, plenty of people have already said that they would likely stop supporting the club in one way or another if we were to become a sports washing operation. He’s acting like these people should just walk away now instead of discussing it…on an internet forum.

Worth noting there is feck all "actual" development.

Every few weeks, tabloids reprint Qatar interest in different words and posters here get suckered into it being a new reveal.

Ornstein confirmed Qatar genuine talks since December. The daily mail and all other shitty outlets aren't giving any new information, because guess what, they don't fecking have any.

Honestly, the only thing that would bother me is if we turn into a Harlem globetrotter. I think the fans need to insist that we have to have 2-3 academy players in the 1st team/starters year on year. To me, losing that is losing the soul of the club.
This way they will be forced to invest in a proper scouting infra/structure from 8 to 18.

What amazing news to wake up to! Oil me up, baby, let's go! "NO!” to Ratcliffe and any more Americans!
I can understand wanting glazers to go and bringing change in ownership but then there is this.

Reminds me of Newcastle fans in Arab outfits screaming and chanting for Saudis.

I’m sure they will be when they get their own stadium and training ground.
I’m not denying that money talks. It’s business.
But Qatar, SA getting big competitions, buying sport clubs, having Beckham, Messi, Ronaldo as their ambassadors.. this is just pure sportswashing. They use sport as an exercise in soft power.

Btw, I really would have expected the Athletic to stand this story up this morning to some degree. The fact that they haven't yet suggests all may not be what it seems.

This is page 272.

I suspect that most people have discussed the morals of the situation some 260 pages ago if you bother to follow this thread. Its not a new discussion point talking the morality of an oil club buying United.

I suggest you start from the beginning or at least make an effort in following this thread unless you want to re-hash the same old points, 260 pages before. Then just cut & paste and take credit for ithe previous posted morality comments. I wont even bother to catch you out on it. I may even fake some outrage... that is if you let me know ahead of time.

Any yet the social warriors/virtue signallers here are forcing their same old re-treaded remarks here, some page 273 later. At least my comments aren't as frequently posted unlike the signallers.
