Was always the most likely outcome. Those thinking Ratcliffe was the best we could do were always far from reality. Owning us is the big one in football, the oil states were never missing this opportunity.
I never really thought there was a chance for Ratcliffe/INEOS. As you say, this is the big one and for as rich as they are it never truly felt like they were going to be the ones to buy us.Was always the most likely outcome. Those thinking Ratcliffe was the best we could do were always far from reality. Owning us is the big one in football, the oil states were never missing this opportunity.
It is surprising to me that people didn't see this coming. The fact of the matter is there are no morally righteous candidates to buy the club, not at the prices that are going to be banded about.
I bet the women’s team will be all happy about it. And it’s just one of many things to consider.
The question is what exactly are you doing regarding the human rights issue, apart from typing out furiously on a keyboard. When you have a chance to actually do something about the "smaller" issues by boycotting the products by the likes of Apple, Nike, Adidas, etc, are you even doing that?I definitely see owning a pair of trainers as the moral equivalent to the subjugation of women too. I mean if a witness reports a rape on an Apple phone who is the real criminal?
Moral gymnastics is fun isn't it?
The journalist reporting it is very reliable from the Football Business side of thingsWhen the mail is the only place reporting something its usually safe to say it's not true.
People talk a lot about morality and then pick and choose which causes to support even indirectly. How many on here who are complaining against a Qatari private ownership, will do the thing they can do - boycott products by these behemoths like Apple etc to actually show they just don't talk the talk.This.
Nope, we will all cry about morality as long as we don't have to do anything meaningful to support our stance. As long as we only need to post on forums and shout how all ME ownership is bad, we are happy to be hypocritesIt’s funny how everyone is quick to determine the morality level of this consortium. Journalists have mentioned its not QSI and wealthy private Qatar individuals. Is morality now depends on country origin with Ratcliffe British origin makes him better? Cant we just wait before identity is revealed before jumping to opinions
I'm not sure 'worry' is the right word.Is it a worry that nobody has jumped on the back of Keegan’s report yet? Thought The Athletic would’ve been on it by now
different journalists have different sources/connections. Probably a case that Athletic don’t have anyone to confirm the story with, or are working to confirm it before running a story. Is it a worry that nobody has jumped on the back of Keegan’s report yet? Exactly. In fact I bet if you look at everything you wear, eat, watch, drive, etc has some exploitation in it. 150 yeas ago kids in this country worked long hours in foundries. We as a country exploited the world and more than likely still do in some areas. This! And nothing else ... This outcry of human rights in certain things has been terrible for a few years! Anyone who owns products from Apple, Android, adidas, Nike, etc., or orders them from Amazon, for example, should really question themselves how and where these things are made, the working conditions!
Hypocrisy at it's best!
But that isn’t supporting a football club though. I’m not cheering every time an apple watch is soldExactly. There are two sides to that coin though. The PSG women's team have actually been more successful after the Qatari owners took over. They signed better players, won their first league, qualified for European football, and moved to a bigger stadium. I can see them being unhappy with Qatari owners from a moral standpoint but the flipside could be more investment for the team. Much like what it'd be for the men's team I suppose.I bet the women’s team will be all happy about it. And it’s just one of many things to consider.
I’m sure they will be when they get their own stadium and training ground.I bet the women’s team will be all happy about it. And it’s just one of many things to consider.
If this is true, it’s really a vile and dirty thing to do.Beautiful news. Even more great after the vile media campaign against Qatar during the World Cup where British journalist were told not to report good news.

My only concern about wealthy Qatari individuals is what if they don’t agree with how the club should be run? Best scenario is they just leave it and invest in everything, worst case is they think we should be some sort of PSG-lite
Beautiful news. Even more great after the vile media campaign against Qatar during the World Cup where British journalist were told not to report good news. That’s what I call a moral win.
But morality aside. Funds funds funds.
United has always been the richest club in England, barring the recent development. We have always had the most to spend. Most legacy fans of other clubs would think its rich that we are complaining or questioning the morals of the club if we are to be bought up by some super rich consortium.
We didn't win when we were rich and have won when we were rich. Judging by the Jan transfer window it maybe a sign of things to come -- we are skint. And the chances of winning when skint is pretty low.
Pointless fretting about the morals of potential owners unless you have £6billion in spare change. There is no perfect owner's scenario any way you spin it.
Besides, I think people are getting too confused about what the club means to them. Manchester United isn't a judgement or representation of who you are as a person. Who you are is a journey you need to undergo internally and United has nothing to do with that. Otherwise, you are seeking the impossible -- you are letting an entity that you have absolutely ZERO control over, define you?
Ultimately, you can only worry about what you can control -- in this case whether you discontinue supporting the club or just focus on the football.
I think the world press battered them in the run up though, no? During the tournament is was just about the football, and to be fair, none of us wanted to hear any more about dead workers at that point, we just wanted to watch a game of football without the guilt. The UK journalists were very kind on Qatar during the WC.

He broke the story we were up for sale didn't he?Yeah 100%. I would've expected this story to have been at least partially stood up by now, but there hasn't been a whisper. No denial either, though (yet).
Do you think? I don’t think there was anywhere near the level of scrutiny as there should have been.I think the world press battered them in the run up though, no? Not sure how good this news is. Leaving aside the issues on morality, with Qatar owning PSG I don’t want this lame balancing act between the two clubs and issues with conflict of interest as well. What amazing news to wake up to! Oil me up, baby, let's go! "NO!” to Ratcliffe and any more Americans!
We dont care about the dead ! give us our kick-ball !I think the world press battered them in the run up though, no? There was a bunch of documentaries during the run up, was even one on Netflix I think? But yeah, not in the footballing world though, just the regular press.Do you think? I don’t think there was anywhere near the level of scrutiny as there should have been.
Well we do, but I’d like to watch a football match in peace without being reminded every 10 minutes that someone died. Like when the queen died and they kept apologising for showing the football, just give it a rest for 90 minutes please. We dont care about the dead ! give us our kick-ball !
