Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger | We've got both baby!

If you have to choose one, would you prefer United buy Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger?

Schneiderlin easily. Schweinsteiger may have a bigger impact on individual games that he plays in but I'd imagine he won't be anywhere close to a constant in the team with his age and recent injury record. Schnierdlin would be an automatic starter every game and I would imagine would have a bigger impact over the course of a season. Getting both would be perfect but if I had to pick one it'd definitely be the younger and less injury prone player.

Do you know how taglines work round here? The mods set them, usually as a disgusting wind up.

The bit I wrote myself is "about 200 miles of Norh London", which Leeds is. That was an attempt to counter my tagline so that people wouldn't actually think I'm from North London, but apparently it hasn't worked
Ah right, I see!

A rotation of Schweinsteiger for the European games and Schneiderlin for the league would be grand.

My question Schneiderlin supporters which one will they pick, Scholes @ 30 or Schneiderlin? You underestimate the power of an experienced players at this level.

Acquiring both Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin makes abundant sense. Schweinsteiger will add some steel to the midfield, along with experience, versatility, leadership, class and winning pedigree. He's not young, but he's not past his best either. I believe he has more left in the tank than Michael Ballack did when he joined Chelsea, for instance. Schneiderlin, on the other hand, has proven to be one of the best midfielders in the league. He's younger, hungry, likely to improve, and ready to move to a big club - a perfect long term replacement for Carrick. Moreover, I don't believe LVG will count on either Carrick or Schweinsteiger to stay healthy all season, which makes Schneiderlin an important piece. In a couple of years, as Carrick and / or Schweinsteiger are close to the end, interest in Strootman could be re-kindled (assuming he's proven his fitness and LVG is still in charge). It all makes too much sense!

There's no way we'll get Schweinsteiger so may as well go for the Southampton guy.

He's only posted 619 times since 2012 and hasn't been online since that post.

He might not find out til next week.

Edit: ah ffs

I gotta say, though, Carrick, Schweini and Schneidi feels a bit like overkill. Aren't they all in the same position?

I don't think so, but in any event, the first two just aren't enough looking at age and injury record.

If all three were available, you would play two of them and I wouldn't be averse to playing all three either subject to oppo. Would expect Herrera to be the third one though.

Another upside, no more Rooney in midfield, ever.

I think we'd be strongest with two sitting midfielders. So any two of those three at all times. We really looked porous in midfield last season, and that would make us so solid, and allow our attacking players more freedom as they wouldn't have as much defensive responsibility.

Mata would be my first choice ahead of them as hes more creative than Herrera, but with all five we have lots of great options and when you add di Maria and Pereira (sp?) we'd be so strong in that area. Can not wait.

If the Bastian thread is locked in the United forum then the one in here needs to be reopened. We need somewhere to unleash our excitement/muppetry.

Bring back the diamond!!

Depay -- Rooney

Herrera
Di Maria ---------- Schneiderlin
Schweinsteiger

Looks nice on paper but defensively I imagine it would lead to another game like Leicester away.
For starters we wouldn't have Blackett as a cb
