I was very surprised that Lnyx deodorant chose to use Lingard as a brand ambassador in their recent TV ads. Would suggest he is an aspirational profile for teens and young men.

I am not surprised. I was young enough to remember when Giggs came to scene and I was in my teens when Beckham mania came out. We're talking here about top quality young players with great talent, attitude and looks to match. JLingz reminds of a guy who parks his Lada at the forefront of a luxury car exhibition and expects every one to just look at his own car. He'll grab attention, that's for sure but not the right kind.
It must be Lingard. I think he's realised by now he's never going to fully make it here so he's concentrating on milking every last drop out of being a United player. Footballers are, contrary to middle aged men 40+ belief allowed to have other pursuits in their 20s and 30s that does not evolve around their football clubs.

Jesse Lingard made a face mask that costs £12. His target market is obviously young fans. The proceeds go to the NHS in their entirety. So here a player is using his brand for a good cause. And let's not compare him to Marcus Rashford who really should be knighted after his efforts during the pandemic, no one comes close to what he did. The point is that Lingard did something good with his brand, and I'll happily point it out. And when i say Jesse Lingard made it: I mean his designer and whoever is in charge of purchase and manufacturing planning did. Lingard's role his company is as owner and instagram post maker.

Big words from Schmeichel, seems he wants to unleash his inner Keane. I think in fairness to Keane, he'd at least have the balls to name the player instead of skirting around the issue. It's clear who Schmeichel is referring to, I just don't understand why he hasn't named the lad.

And before you think I don't get social media, I'm still in my mid 20s. Anyway it's good that he used his brand for a good cause. But still, my opinion was revolving around the first time he made it into the first team. Which I think what Schmeichel was referring to.
Being a footballer is different in a way that you simply cannot compare the amount of discipline needed to be successful, to other jobs. For example, if you gain more weight or muscles, you could be slower or more sluggish, that directly affects your performance. So I assume that having a wrong mentality in football have a huge impact at how a player's career would turn out. And if you've made it in football, you would be set for life, I think it's a pretty damn good goal to achieve and prioritize.
Brandings are the cherries on top.

If he was heading towards the end of his career then I agree. After all his brand is what would be feeding him going forward. However it's not the case. Lingard still have at least 5 years of football left in him. He should focusing more on his football rather then on a brand name that is making losses. By doing so he might actually end up landing a job with a serious and relevant club.
I never thought he would be good enough to be first team. Best case, I felt he could only be a good squad player. But ....

They were great in what they did and what they did justified their behaviour. The rest of us mere mortals are judged on a different scale and must be held accountable on what we do. Lingard is a struggling player whose earning millions. He should focus on his football and not on his brand name, especially a brand name that is making losses.

He has 5+ years of football left but not at a club like this. He will have a career beyond Manchester but his future at the top level will end with us, and so will his brand. I understand him wanting to do as much with it as possible because nobody will have any interest once he is playing for relegation fodder or some random team overseas.

The consensus seems to be that Schmeichel was referring to Lingard - to be honest, I was a bit uncomfortable with some of things he was saying. Also had the impression that there was an element of "the good old days when we were here", a bit like Roy Keane. He obviously has a personal interest in Leicester, but all the talk about how much better our defence would be if Jonny Evans was there was a bit OTT.

He had good things to say about Pogba so i don't think he has a problem with the social media stuff but rather with the whole superstar persona for players that are not actually good for us. The proper way to handle this as decent supporters and human beings is to thank Lingard for his time at United and wish him all the best at his new club. He scored some stunners for us and that spectacular goal in extra time that won us the FA cup. He’s just not a player good enough to play at a club of our stature.
