Sékou Koné

I've always wanted him since 5 minutes ago, let's gooo

As if we've just signed the next Makélélé

Signing a player from a team in Mali. That's pretty cool.

I like these kinds of random transfers. Seemingly low risk but also always exciting as you don't know what to expect

Every time I've seen him throughout the years, he's been class. Last week he won possession, passed to the keeper, and volleyed the return pass over 80 yards to an attacker all while in deep conversation with his coach about new ideas he had on the topic of innovative rest defence positions while counter pressing.

Edit: Wrote a detailed piece on him 1.75 years ago that would put @LuckyScout78 to shame but was distracted and didn't hit send.

Agreed. We haven't done many of these in recent years. Caicedo stands out as one that could've been great for us if we managed to get it over the line.

Was just saying to all my mates down the pub that we should sign him.

Not the Kone I was hoping for, but I'll take it. Looks like he has some ability on the ball and can pass a bit

Another promising youth player

17yo DM/CM apparently

This is why I've not felt envious of chelsea's youth policy because we're not lagging behind in signing top young talent. The club should be applauded with their proactive approach to youth recruitment and this is coming from someone who is usually very harsh on the club's dealings when it comes to transfers.

I thought English clubs weren’t allowed to sign overseas players under 18 any more since Brexit?

You can buy under 18 overseas players but can't register them before they turn 18 but any way this guy has already turned 18 .

He had 2 assists in the u17s world cup in 2023, and Mali beat Argentina in the 3rd place match. 12 caps overall for Mali u17s
