Ryan Giggs retires

Truly is the end of an era now. Utter legend, glad he'll still be around.
 
Absolute legend and it's not over yet. Im positive his involvement with Van Gaal will be very hands on and eventually he will be our manager.
 
2pm was great, all about LvG. Giggs as assistant was also great, never registered in my head about his playing career ending. Giggs we love you dearly. Thanks for your commitment and class in all your years here.
 
He needs a second testimonial, needs a playing career send off! Legend.
 
Feel quite emotional. My favourite player ever. Started watching football when he broke into the side so he's been the one constant all the way through my life as a Utd fan.

I know he'll still be at the dug out but it still saddens me that he wont be wearing the red shirt anymore. Its almost irrational to be sad but Giggs has been the constant for me at United on the pitch just like SAF was off of it. Thank you Sir Ryan for everything you have done for this club as a player and all the best in your new role.

I had a feeling it was going to happen, however, that's put a bit of a downer on my good mood. That said, he's still part of the furniture, and I can imagine he'll be hear for many, many years to come.

What a player he has been for United. True Legend.

What a footballer, the greatest career of them all. Not sure what else to say really, feel very sad about this even though it was entirely expected.

A true legend! Can't imagine a United team without Giggs in it, Giggs has always been there :(

It's a shame he didn't get that 1 goal this past-season to keep up the record of scoring in every Premier League season. Still, what he has achieved over the years and how he has kept his body in fantastic shape, sometimes even showing up the younger players, is truly remarkable. There will be no other like him. He starts a new chapter with United in becoming No.2 to LvG. This will be the start of Giggsy's managerial career and I'm sure he will do brilliantly in the role.

Good news, I feel. I think we're better served with him concentrating fully on his coaching duties than we are by him playing the odd game here and there.
 
What a great legend, but its about time, hope he would kick start a successful management career for us in future.

It's pretty annoying that his playing career is over like this rather than an idealised announcement on the pitch or at least at the end of a pretty successful season. Of course in a couple of hours when this actually sinks in I probably won't care and just lament that we will no longer see one of the finest players to ever play for this club.
 
One of our legends, gutting how an entire generation has more or less come to an end.
 
Damn.....its been terrific, going to be strange not having him around in a playing capacity.
