Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leicester Manager

I was just wondering recently what happened to him. Never seen ot heard of him once since he retired, had no idea he was coaching.

Antonio Valencia is another that seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth, along with Veron.
Valencia is very active on Instagram. Seems to be doing some sort of training back home, posts pretty much daily with quite a lot of talking which surprised me a fair bit when I first come across it. Seems he’s not quite as shy as was made out.

I understand weirdos are still butt hurt about Ole but imagine trying to sneak call out people for raised questions of Ole and compare him with RVN case, yea United and PSV totally same shit, Christ.

fergie begging him to come back to
old trafford and give ronaldo a straightener for old times sake. ruud wearing a menacing overcoat to show he means business. the shit turtle neck to allude to the fact he may be a highly trained assassin/spy from a cliched action film. hand out of shot holding a gun to fergie’s back, telling him to “smile and act normal and no one gets hurt.”

the screen fades to black and comes alive again with a morning shot of the next day. it’s ruud’s 5m+ penthouse apartment, overlooking vienna or zurich or one other central european city that all look the same. you can see the corner of the bed, bathed in sun, it’s unmade and there’s a stunner in it who’s been absolutely railed by ruud the night before. ruud is getting dressed, ready to catch his flight to manchester. the lady stirs, ruud tells her to get the feck out of his house, he has business to attend to. he then throws a few euros at her to get a coffee, showing us his caring side, alongside his bad boy mean streak.

Fantastic player, hope he has a good career in management too. Prime Ruud would do wonders for us now.

We should have signed him as interim manager just to see him bench ronaldo

Brilliant . In Eindhoven we love the allmighty beard. Ruud is cool, well-speached and modest. For many PSV supporters, Ruud is an all-time hero due to his player career at PSV. It’s difficult not to worship him.

Off course Ruud still has everything to prove as a coach, and he is very aware of that. At his request PSV has appointed Fred Rutten (who is a well respected Dutch field coach) as a mentor. As in coaching style Ruud is most inspired by Sir Bobby Robson and Guus Hiddink. (https://nos.nl/l/2410623), in regard to mentality Ruud loves the way Atletico Madrid operates under Simeone.

As mentioned before, a lot of young attackers have come trough PSV’s youth academy in recent years; Madueke (who has had a lot of injury-setbacks), Malen, Gakpo, and this year Babayoko and Saibari. They all praise Ruud for te way he helps them to develop their attacking skills.

His start has been promising, purely looking at the results. PSV beat Ajax in a match for the Johan Cruijff Schaal (In the UK that will be the Community Shield), we won our first two competition matches (against lowrated teams), and kicked Monaco out of the Champions League. If PSV beat Rangers tomorrow, he’s off to a perfect start.

However it would be fair to say that in both the matches against Monaco and Ajax, PSV had all the luck in the world. Ruud insists on playing a more conservative type of game then Roger Schmidt played, and untill now, the field play has not been that good (the second half against Rangers was our best half untill now).

For Ruud, the result is all that counts (that explains his love for Simeone aggression-style). I am truely curious (and somewhat optimistic) if Ruud can finaly bring the title back to PSV

3 months further into the season. How’s Ruud doing?

Ruud had a good start despite losing the Rangers match. Against Rangers, PSV played way too defensive. It was a blast in PSV’s face to lose captain Luuk de Jong, and for a few weeks the team needed to adapt it’s playing style due to the lack of a striker in the team.

PSV lost against Twente, and reached it’s lowest point in the match aginst league nr 18 Cambuur, losing 3-0. After that van Nistelrooij was heavily criticised, and he probably realised that something needed to change. Falling back on Schmid’s invention (playing Guttierez as a defensive midfielder) gave him the solution he needed.

From that moment on, PSV started to play better, and defensive stability seemed to be found. PSV won most matches from that point, but lost again in the away game against Groningen (in wich they played well, created over 12 chances, but conceeded 3 goals within 5 minutes).

After that, PSV faced some make or break matches. PSV defeated Arsenal (which, for most supportes was a big surprise), Won against Bodo Glimt (qualifying for Europa league knock out round), and last week Ajax was left without points in it’s own Amsterdam Arena. If PSV is able to win against AZ next week, expectations will rise further amongst the PSV supporters. The vibe is extremely positive at the moment.

Week by week PSV shows progression. Ruud does also. In his first matches he was very restless, walking down the sideline and directing his players from minute to minute. in recent matches he seems to be more calm. Maybe i’m to optimistic, but PSV starts to become a Ruud van Nistelrooij signature-team (as mentioned before Ruud wants to create a Simeone-style fighting machine). Keep up the good work Ruud!

So, PSV fans - any insights on how you guys feel on RVN - the manager?

Personally, whenever I've seen you guys play (and it's not been a lot), it seems you are quite good going forward, creating chances (which may be because PSV are significantly stronger than 8-10 teams and stronger than 3-4 other teams). However, I've always felt that your defence is far too open?

Am I being harsh? And how much of it is because of the side, and how many issues have started under RVN only, and weren't there under Schreuder?

I'm not actually sure about Ruud the trainer. He doesnt seem entirely ready for the job yet which he agreed on since he needed quite a bit of convincing to actually take it.

He had some bad luck with losing Luuk de Jong without a proper back up and he's completely hamstrung now that he lost Gakpo and Madueke up front. Still, not getting CL in that tie with Rangers is really unacceptable seeing how poor Rangers are.

It's early days though and he will always have the advantage of being a superstar thag people look up to. Though so is Van Basten or Ruud Gullit...

Dutch Jesus out.

Nah not doing that.

Van Nistelrooy on Gakpo: “His dream move was Manchester United, he was in contact with Ten Hag since last August. I also wanted him to join United, it's my team and I love them, but also they're better than Liverpool and offer more potential to their players.

I’ve seen this bouncing around the web, but couldn’t see anywhere reputable showing it. Is it even legit?

Brilliant interview. Love the guy.

Good to see him speak about Scholes in such high regard, talking about how they had that telepathic link-up play. For me, Ruud is the best finisher in PL history and Scholes was the best midfielder. It feels criminal that he only had 1 league title to his name but I guess he was just unfortunate that his spell at United concided with two transitional phases (01-02 & 04-06).

Congrats to Ruud on winning the first major trophy in his managerial career!

Likely to finish 2nd (although away game with AZ remaining) and a cup win - How do PSV fans rate him now?

Whenever I've seen PSV, you've looked a bit too open defensively (which has improved recently slightly) but pretty good going forward.

Future United or Real Madrid manager in the making If he continues to improve.

I thought PSV fans weren't keen on him earlier on in the season.

Still not I think. From what I understand, the football isn't pretty and too reactive for a top side (within the Eredivisie). If he gets 2nd, it'll be a decent result alongside this cup, but 1st was available with Ajax's descent and the European exit was considered very disappointing. But I'm sure he'll get another year at least.

What a striker this guy was, the Haaland of his generation. Delighted for him that his managerial career is off to a great start.

Unfortunately it isn’t off to a great start at all. Terrible season.

What were the expectations for the season? A title win?

How is the cup he won viewed in Holland? Big competition to win?

In a season where Ajax is this bad you have to win the title. Cup isn’t that big in Holland. Nice to win but that’s it. Our football is terrible and not getting any better. I have no hope whatsoever for the near future.

Quit 1 match before the end of the season after, allegedly, he fell out with his staff and some of the key players (Xavi Simons and Luuk de Jong mentioned by name). Very poorly timed with an extremely important match to go which will determine whether PSV end 2nd or 3rd. Having said that, PSV have been quite terrible this season with no coherent style of play at all and everything depending on a 19 year old feeling up for it and Luuk de Jong scoring headers.

Ironically this was one of the only seasons (I feel) that we didn't manage to beat PSV at home.

Wtf that is crazy... cheeky shout to bring him onto the United staff?

Though obviously i'm sure he wants a manager position

Shitty move by players and management. RvN spoke out openly he wasn't ready to be manager yet, and they still push him into this job. And when it goes downhill they don't have his back.

Perhaps an option to be Ten Hag assistant?
