fergie begging him to come back to
old trafford and give ronaldo a straightener for old times sake. ruud wearing a menacing overcoat to show he means business. the shit turtle neck to allude to the fact he may be a highly trained assassin/spy from a cliched action film. hand out of shot holding a gun to fergie’s back, telling him to “smile and act normal and no one gets hurt.”
the screen fades to black and comes alive again with a morning shot of the next day. it’s ruud’s 5m+ penthouse apartment, overlooking vienna or zurich or one other central european city that all look the same. you can see the corner of the bed, bathed in sun, it’s unmade and there’s a stunner in it who’s been absolutely railed by ruud the night before. ruud is getting dressed, ready to catch his flight to manchester. the lady stirs, ruud tells her to get the feck out of his house, he has business to attend to. he then throws a few euros at her to get a coffee, showing us his caring side, alongside his bad boy mean streak.
Brilliant . In Eindhoven we love the allmighty beard. Ruud is cool, well-speached and modest. For many PSV supporters, Ruud is an all-time hero due to his player career at PSV. It’s difficult not to worship him.
Off course Ruud still has everything to prove as a coach, and he is very aware of that. At his request PSV has appointed Fred Rutten (who is a well respected Dutch field coach) as a mentor. As in coaching style Ruud is most inspired by Sir Bobby Robson and Guus Hiddink. (
https://nos.nl/l/2410623), in regard to mentality Ruud loves the way Atletico Madrid operates under Simeone.
As mentioned before, a lot of young attackers have come trough PSV’s youth academy in recent years; Madueke (who has had a lot of injury-setbacks), Malen, Gakpo, and this year Babayoko and Saibari. They all praise Ruud for te way he helps them to develop their attacking skills.
His start has been promising, purely looking at the results. PSV beat Ajax in a match for the Johan Cruijff Schaal (In the UK that will be the Community Shield), we won our first two competition matches (against lowrated teams), and kicked Monaco out of the Champions League. If PSV beat Rangers tomorrow, he’s off to a perfect start.
However it would be fair to say that in both the matches against Monaco and Ajax, PSV had all the luck in the world. Ruud insists on playing a more conservative type of game then Roger Schmidt played, and untill now, the field play has not been that good (the second half against Rangers was our best half untill now).
For Ruud, the result is all that counts (that explains his love for Simeone aggression-style). I am truely curious (and somewhat optimistic) if Ruud can finaly bring the title back to PSV
