Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leicester Manager

Quite cool. It'll be interesting to see how he does.

Love Ruud. Absolute monster in the box. Hope he kills it as manager.

One to watch for United as well. If he does well there, we should look at him closer potentially.

Ten Hag leaving this summer should be a huge boost for him next season. Hopefully it doesn’t end like van Bommel did!

Is Darwin Nunez the modern day Ruud?? Has their been any strikingly similar player to Ruud at all??

Loved RVN!!

But but he’s an ex-player!
I know you're kidding, but Van Nistelrooij has actually been very careful about his coaching career. He has been assistant for the Dutch national team and was a coach for PSV's youth teams, and is currently coaching their reserves (who play in the Dutch second tier). He also initially rejected the offer to become head coach as he felt he wasn't ready for that job; but after a lot of insistence from PSV management, including by their new CEO Marcel Brands (that's the job he got after leaving the Everton DOF position), he now did accept the job. So there is really no entitlement here.

In any case, I hope he does well, always liked him as a player and person. (Of course he's likeable, he's from my home region. ;) )
Ruud zit aan het stuur!
Ruud aan het stuur.

Makes more sense in Dutch and sounds better. Win-win-win. (Three times cause it's Ruud.)

The trust the process bug is spreading fast.

In my opinion, Ruud is the best striker United has had in my 40 years watching United - I hope he does well as a manger.

I read a bit about the highlighted part and how he rejected them twice before. And the assistant manager will be an experienced one, at his request. What style of football has he played with the reserves and youth teams?

Darwin often operates in a wider left position than Ruud did. That said I’m very excited about him and I’m hoping Liverpool don’t sign him (even if I think he’s a little raw still )

One of my top three Utd players. Wishing Ruud every success in his managerial career.

Uhm, can someone tell me why this is happening? Last i've looked, PSV are doing very well, could even snatch the title from Ajax.

I'm aware its from next season, but this still doesn't make much sense to me, usually these type of appointments doesn't happen when things go well, seems like a gamble when PSV already have a rather complete team, one would think a more experienced manager would be wise.

All the best Ruud. Hopefully he can lead PSV to the league title.

Schmidt has already announced that he's stepping down after this season

I was joking, but in fact ole had more experience than the level Ruud is at now. I’m just waiting to see the hypocrisy in work from various posters.

i do off course wish Ruud well

Pretty much has a 1 in 2 chance of winning the league.

Hope he does well and has a good coaching career ahead of him.

I was just wondering recently what happened to him. Never seen ot heard of him once since he retired, had no idea he was coaching.

Antonio Valencia is another that seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth, along with Veron.

Valencia i don't know, probably going to the gym in Ecuador 7 times a week, 3 times a day.

The last thing i know, Veron is the president of Estudiantes de la Plata in Argentina.

United are way higher up in the food chain than PSV and can afford to buy established coaches, whereas a club like PSV usually has to take a gamble on an up and comer or settle for someone who experienced a setback or two at a bigger club. The situations don't compare!?

If it was a shittier league, like the Bayern Munich Perennial Championship, I’d agree
Anyway i was half joking

Absolutely agree

Yeah, true. It's funny how that works. I'm just trying to defend Van Nistelrooij, cause it seems like he shared your opinion (except he wasn't joking about it ;) ) until he got talked into doing this.

From a Dutch article I just saw (NRC): "That I take things more slowly, is no guarantee that things will go well."

Probably my favourite United striker of all time behind Solskjaer. Hope he does well.

He's aged tremendously as well. Really grew into that massive head of his.

I have no idea, I don't follow Jong PSV (their second-tier team) at all. I saw somewhere that he plays an attacking 4-3-3, but that's all. Maybe my go-to PSV fan, @Eendracht maakt macht (sorry for all the tags :D ), knows more.

He probably watched how ole got butchered at United. If Ruud isn’t successful he might decide management is not for him.
Anyway looks like he’s got his head screwed on properly, good luck to him

The best finisher I've seen at United. Greenwood runs a close second...

The way Ruud used to slipstream past defenders and with single mindedness slam them in past the keeper into the bottom corner time after time. Clinical.

Good luck to him as manager.
