Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Enjoyed this.

I think the most significant and vivid part of that op-ed is the thought of what happens when the Ukrainians become desperate. He hammers home the point that this is a war for survival of their nation and desperate people may do things we won't like.

Yeah, I didn't so much take it as a serious suggestion, but a strong example of just how serious and desperate this war is for Ukraine.

Some will say this is exaggeration and a substantial part of the population doesn't feel it's existential anymore and this is reflected in their struggle to attract new volunteers.

I am sorry, but I can't believe these numbers at all. Not even half

You are relentlessly negative about anything that might appear to be helpful or positive for Ukraine, so of course you don’t believe the numbers!

I note though, that they changed, at some point, the figures to include injuries as well as deaths, so I could just about believe it if what we hear about suicidal frontal attacks is true. I’m sure there is an element of exaggeration, it’s just establishing how much that is the problem.

You said it yourself " I am sure there is an element of exageration...". You don't believe the number either. Why then you label me as being negative if you are too?

Propaganda is in both sides

I said you were relentlessly negative, which is true!

Negative people can also be right sometimes though, and I think you may be in this case!

So instead of saying you are probably right, you decided to call I am negative.

But lets deepen on my relentlessly negative position of the conflict. I would like you to answer me if you can, please, From the scale of 1 to 10, How the expectations of Ukraine had IMPROVED from the the last year and a half since the last spring-summer offensive was expected and the almost a year without the US arm package approval?

What are you talking about? Are you drunk?

Sorry, what?

Ok,

Ill try again.

From 1 to 10 being 1 the expectations of Ukraine to beat the russians on the field substantially diminished since January 2023 when an Ukranian offensive was expected and 10 the expectations of Ukraine to beat the russians on the field substantially increased since January 2023 when an Ukranian offensive was expected

At what point during our discussion have we agreed on a comparison point of January 2023? It seems as though you’ve deliberately picked the high water mark of the war (from Ukraine’s perspective), with the intention of then comparing today’s situation negatively to that. Where has January 2023 come from? Why not compare to March/April 2022 when Russia was at the edge of Kiev?

Can you see the point I’m making? You’ve picked an arbitrary point in the war, which, likely due to the significant Ukrainian gains of the previous 6-8 months, was probably when expectation was at its highest and naturally at its most unrealistic.

And I think you’ve done it purposely, with the intention of representing your negativity as realism.

Because is exactly it.

you are labelling me as relentlessly negative. That afirmation is of someone that somehow is aware of what i am saying in a decent span of time. Or you would just say "you are negative".

if you would be aware of my comments, At the beggining i was hopeless and i didnt take well the comments that russia would fold in 3 months. After the counter offensive j was hopeful.and after the "non offensive" last year, bavk to hoplesness.

As per your last post, you label negative feelings as realism. And i agree. So i dont understand why you label me as relentlessly negative when in other stages i was on the wave at which stage ukraine was. I even posted last month that hopefully the ukraine arms approval from biden vould help them to hold grounds and turn the tides of war

I cant predict what will happen with the war. But so far, at best for ukraine, they are in a stall situation and to circle back, without a big official offensive wave from russia, i cant belive that is their worse month after the meat grind of bahamut and others

That's already happening but no-one is saying 'what could we have done to help more?'

Only feeling the pain together will help
I will have the same pain than the ukrainians from my confy bed, yeah

Is like someone would say. I wish they would kill all the palestinians so we could finally call it a genocide and judge israel for who they are.

Easy ask for the sacrifice of others, death or a bleak future just to advance your own morality officially

Only ukraine has the right to decide their defeat for their cause, not to make feel bad the west

More than 900 schools, hospitals, churches and other institutions have been damaged or destroyed, the analysis shows, even though these sites are explicitly protected under the Geneva Conventions.

Part of me wishes this would end in Ukraine defeat so the world can have a good look at itself to see what happens next

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face..... this is taking it to the extreme. Cutting your body off to spite your nose.

However. I do understand the point you are trying to make.

Yeah its about the point which the snowflakes don't get.

A bit like I want to see the shit company I work for go down the pan even though it will cost my job.

All this unity for Ukraine is just sound bites from the west, if they get hammered all we will hear is how they all condemn the actions of Russia, same in Israel to be honest
