I doubt that's from the Ozzie game. Sounds like it's from an old club game of some kind.

He also benches someone in the in the recording which happen yesterday.

Despite all that Japanese position in the 1st half, they didn’t look like they were going to score a try. Thought South Africa defended well. 2nd half, South Africa just typically overpowered the Japanese and got the job professionally done. Atmosphere went well flat as well.

Stuck money on a New Zealand vs South Africa final before the tournament began and I reckon that’s what it is gonna be.

Yeah, listening to it again he says 22 players in this room - it's been 23 for a good while now.
 
So what's our dream final then? New Zealand vs South Africa would double up as the 100th test between the two nations. England vs Wales in a World Cup final speaks for itself. England vs South Africa would produce the closest game in my opinion and hopefully prove the two nations can produce a decent World Cup final after the dreadful advertisement for rugby that was the 2007 final. New Zealand vs Wales: Beating the AB's for the first time since 1953 to win the World Cup would be pretty coo.

For what it's worth, bring on England vs Wales!

Thought South Africa were brilliant yesterday. Talk about having the perfect game plan and executing it. The 2nd half was as dominant a performance as you'll see considering how brilliant Japan are.

And Japan are still the biggest winners of this tournament imo. What they've potentially done for Rugby these last few weeks is off the scale. Now please get them into the Rugby Championship.
 
Some cracking games over this weekend.

England v New Zealand is going to be an absolute humdinger.

I love watching New Zealand, I am a fan of them and I am a fan of the Crusaders in the Super Rugby so I am hoping they win on Saturday but I do think England have a chance to beat them on Saturday if they play smart. Either way, I can't wait to watch the game on Saturday.

Massive loss considering Navidi's strengths as a ballcarrier and in the breakdown, gonna have to make do with Moriarty who's limited to say the least. We're drafting in a back to replace him, most likely Scott Williams since our main centres are both hobbled at the moment.

There's another way to put it. South Africa have always been Mourinho's Chelsea, and yesterday Japan reminded me so much of latter-year Wenger's Arsenal.

It's not a losing culture, its a dwindling culture. Rugby union in Australia is effectively on death's door and I very much doubt its going to get better.

The reality is people simply aren't playing the game. Rugby Australia has inherently focused at the top level of the sport while systematically cutting out the grass roots level to the point where the talent pool is restricted to a total of 50,000 players from age 3 to opens. This has lead to a decline of over 60% since the year 2000. They killed their sport by worrying about their salaries rather than the players that pay those salaries.

Meanwhile Australian Rules has infiltrated their key demographic (priveleged private schools) and football has grown by over 50% in the same time Rugby has lost 60% of its player base. Australian Rules especially is the scary aspect as this is not a traditional home grown sport especially in the northern part of the country. Problem for Rugby is that the Australian rules teams in those area's have seen moderate success so people are more inclined to take their kids to those games then they are rugby games.

In essence you can pretty much draw a line in the sand of rugby's downfall in 2005 when the socceroos qualified for the world cup and the Sydney Swans won a flag in Australian Rules while Australian Rugby was in crisis mode.
 
Nigel Owens will referee England vs New Zealand on Saturday. Jerome Garces will referee Wales vs South Africa on Sunday.

Probably should be just because you don't want the ref overshadowing the occasion. Guessing Wayne Barnes will get the final if England lose, Garces or Owens if they win. Was hoping we'd have him for the Wales match instead of Garces.
 
Thing is there's no standout referee for the final provided their country isn't involved. Garces will probably get the final if England and Wales win.
 
Really don't like Garces as a referee. Could be worse, could have Barnes refereeing the Wales and South Africa game.

All this nonsense with Peyper has been been overblown, too. It was a silly picture that he shouldn't have done, he should've been reprimanded and then everyone move on with their lives. Not as if the red was a controversial one, either. Just a daft thing to pose for.

I know little of Australian sports to be honest so I find this an interesting post. Isn't rugby league also much, much bigger than Union down there?

I know rugby in Australia is in bad shape. You're right and there's nothing to debate on that front. The losing culture I was referring to was purely results related. 42 straight losses in Trans Tasman super rugby matches through 2016 to 2018, no Australian team winning more than 6 super rugby matches out of 15 regular season games in 2016 and 2017 and the Wallabies winning 40.5% of their tests in the 3 years after the 2015 world cup are just some of the unflattering stats to do with on field results over the last few years.

The only negative about England making the final and losing it is 4 years of hearing about Wales winning a world cup without playing New Zealand and South Africa winning a world cup losing to New Zealand en route, as if those two things should be caveats put next two either of those two countries winning becoming world champions.
