Rugby Union Discussion - Six Nations Time

I just want to point out that it's a penalty when you enter a ruck without binding.

Hmmmm is Aldritt saying that the Dupont injury was deliberate? I don't think it looked it at the time

It's deliberate and common. He went into the ruck, off his feet, with his shoulder and without binding. These actions routinely cause concussions and knee injuries.

Alright Greg put your phone away and focus on the match

I don't joke about that because it's one of my pet peeves. And it's not about Dupont being injured, shit happens but a similar action will happen from either teams several times in that game and it's extremely dangerous.

I'll look for a replay later, definitely want another look. I just thought it was awful luck at the time.

I’m same as @unchanged_lineup , I didn’t think it was deliberate initially but I’d have to see it again

Right, I think Dupont's injury warranted another look from the officials to see if there was any foul play instead of it being an unfortunate 'rugby incident'. There's a bit of Frizell on Mbonambi in the World Cup final about that.

Hmm. Looks worse on replay but I’m still not sure it was deliberate

It's deliberate. Think about it this way, he is wrong in every single aspects of a ruck. He never tries to stay on his feet, he comes from the side, with his shoulder, without binding or even pretending to wrap. Either the player has no idea about the rules or he doesn't care.

Don't think the two are thatcomparable really. Frizzle went straight into Mbonambi for that one. Mbonambi was set and didn't move.

If Dupont doesn't move to the left it looks like it wouldn't have opened up his knee for that kind of injury. Horrible but looked totally accidental.
