What is the excuse for the third where Genge goes inside?

I'm not sure if this is right, but to me it feels like in the last 10 years, games between England and Ireland where Tuilagi played = England win. Games between us where Tuilagi didn't play = we win.

He's that good.
 
England totally ballsed that up starting with Smith’s poor kick off the pen into the corner.

no excuse. he’s been getting torn up since about the 15th minute. like i say, most probably because he’s being asked to play fullback as well as front row.

he’s definitely brilliant when he’s fit. he’s key to how jones wants to play. he needs ball carriers to rough teams up, break the line and suck in players. he seems to want to play the same with lightweight skilful backs though, that are only trusted to kick the ball away and try to out set piece teams with brilliant set pieces. making france scrum or line out isn’t making them work hard. found the same against south africa.
 
Best player in the World is Dupont. Congratulations France on the grand slam, very well deserved.

Strangely enough it's the one that has the largest amount of players that I like and rate.
 
The scary thing about this French team is that they are more than happy to play tactical rugby to see out a game. No more random stupidness for the sake of it. They'll kick it all day if it works to their advantage.

That's because the gameplan is now based on defense, dominating in rucks and scrums. For the first time in a very long time France don't need the ball.

It's a fantastic tactic for a team like yours. You'll always be dangerous in attack but couple that with a tight defence, good set piece and great breakdown and then you have a hell of a challenge for anyone to play against.

Congratulations mate, hard to dislike anyone in that French team. Just glad we were able to give you a decent game in Paris.

Ignoring all the jinx and potential over confidence. When the game starts it's difficult to not be optimistic, France really reminds me the Crusaders, even when the players change the system is still the same and well executed.

Sounds a bit like SA (added to the being happy to kick long when winning and say “go on then, score from 70 yards out. our defence is ready”

France will be one of the favourites but one of, not necessarily the. Could be a top WC last 8/last 4

You know what, I thought about it as I typed….but I think France need a win over the boks before they can claim that title. When was the last time France beat them?

Yep and its why I hate Ireland have SA in the groups. We will be more than fine under the high ball but unless we master our offload game (and at least we are trying) then its a hard task to build a score against them. Even scarier about France is, while their forwards aren't quite as dominant as SA, they have an incredible attacking game too when they need it.

I honestly think this could be an epic World Cup as if all teams hit their stride there is honestly at least 6 teams that will fancy their chances against the rest on any given day and another 2 or 3 who can pull out a top performance too.

Funnily enough when I pressed send on my message I remembered SA and felt a bit ashamed that I had forgotten them!! That would be an epic and brusising game. Ireland only need to get past SA and then France/NZ in the World Cup :nervous:
 
@unchanged_lineup meant to ask, how do you feel about the transfers to Connacht from Leinster? Adam Byrne could prove to be a great one if he can hit his potential for me. Bolster the squad at the very least.
 
Well deserved by the French. I like this Ireland though, lots to improve on but flinging the strange shaped ball about nicely.
 
Great display from the French and DuPont in particular. I just get the feeling that Eddie Jones is using this six nations as a glorified trial for all the players. Can’t see Joe Marler at the RWC. Too many players out of position and Henry Slade hasn’t impressed all season. Missing Man Utd for sure. Well played France.

Yeah if the french pack could stand up to the brutality of the boks, I’d be happy to call them the best team in the world

Playing Ireland and England in Paris gave them a big advantage in this tournament, that’s for sure.

Ireland were a weird mix of sublime and terrible. The more expansive approach is good fun but means the error count is through the roof. Polar opposite to when Schmidt was in charge. Good fun though. France the better team but we’re not far behind.

Seriously, we lack squad depth and it kills us. If they have a few more forwards they want to offload too, there's plenty of room.
