Rugby League Super League

might not be a bad thing JG - they've won the league - is it 4 times? and not gone on to win the Grand Final.
( we went to the 1999 one when you beat the Pie-Eaters - marvellous!! )

I wasn't a rugby fan as a nipper.

But I know our history is much better than yours.

[/B]
now you're sounding like a scouser boothy! :p

ps isn't it better to have more recent victories than " history ? "

Says the saints fan :wenger: hehe.

Yeah it is, I'm not going to deny that. But still, Wigan are a good club, and nobody can deny that, it's just we're never very consistant, but I've got faith in our team at the moment, and I reckon we can do allright in playoffs, maybe reach grand final. And if not, there's always next year

:lol::lol:

Catalans beat Saints, meaning Bradfords win means feck all.

Something a bit dodgy about that if you ask me (Or any wire of bradford fan)

A win for us wouldn't have made any difference, but it would have meant Bradford or Warrington would have had a chance to make the play offs at the expense of Les cats. Now Catalan obviously were once upon a time coached by Mick Potter, who is now at Saints. Saints were beaten by Catalans on their home patch allowing Catalans to make the play offs and meaking sure Warringtom/bradford didn't.

hmmmm:smirk:

I hope you're not implying what I think you're implying

Maybe, but I doubt there's any truth in it :nervous:

Also, Wigan were feckin' awful vs Giants

What a load of bollocks!

Admittidly Saints haven't been anywhere near as good this year as in past years but the omission of James Graham is shocking.

He's made more than 1000 more metres than any other player in the league and has been fantastic all year.

Nice to see Scott Moore at hooker - he'll be back with us next year and hopefully maintaining the level of performance that has seen his named best hooker this season.

Oh and Sinfield!? give me strength!

My changes would be.....

Graham for Peacock
A traffic cone for Sinfield

On the occasions I've seen him, I'd definitely agree with that. The guy's a monster.

I was suprised Sinfield made it too

I reckon it's close between graham and peacock though, they're both good rugby players.

But I was shocked at how little saints players actually made it

I wasn't really - I only expected one and that was Graham, nobody has seen Gidley since may so i'm surprised he made it.

Has been a pretty lame year for us this season and if i'm honest i'm just looking forward to it ending now.

Reckon you'll reach Old Trafford this year?

Not giants please, my ex is a giants fan and I don't want her to be happy :)

Anybody been watching the play-offs?

Leeds ran out easy winners over Hull KR in the end, but the scoreline was a bit harsh on Hull KR, they played quite well for long periods, but Leeds showed class in the end and notched up a lot of points towards the end of the game as Hull KR tired.

However, the main talking point of the game was this IMO:

YouTube - Leeds vs Hull KR - Chev Walker Leg Break 19/09/09

Saints started well against Huddersfield and raced to a 14-2 lead early on. However, Huddersfield were much more spirited in the second half and did more of the pressing. Saints showed their grit in defence and held out the Giants for the entire second half, with the only point being a drop goal from Long in the latter stages. Making it Saints 15-2 Giants, just so they'd have to score three times to win.

Catalan managed to beat Wakefield, it was looking like an easy victory, but Wakefield almost managed a comeback towards the end of the second half.

Rooting for Saints to win it this year, but Leeds look good again..

Hmmm well the first weekend of what in my opinion is a pretty stupid playoff format is over and done with.

Leeds outclassed Hull but I don't think Hull were anywhere near their best and the Walker injury seemed to knock them for 6. i can't see Leeds not making the final though - but in my opinion there's only one team capable of turning them over and that is us.

Then our game, we pretty much did what was required - Hudds have had I believe the best defense in the league this year and it was always going to be a case of us needing to defent really well and take what opportunities came our way. Which we duly did - hopefully we'll pick up some form in the next game and take it into the final.

I didn't see the Catalan Wakefield game but to be fair always expected Cats to turn them over - Wakefield for me have over performed this season and that combined with 3 of the so called bigger teams underperforming had seen them find themselves in the playoffs. Catalans probably won't go any further either.

Wigan came up against a team in Castleford who much like Wakefield would probably struggle to make the play offs any other year but the table doesn't lie I suppose and they were able to have a go at turning Wigan over on their own patch. I never thought they'd do it but in fairness they ran them close. Cas have a number of young lads who look like they'll be class and if Cas can keep hold of them then they'll maybe find themselves there or there abouts next season.

I've seen very little this weekend to suggest that the final will be anything other than a Saints Leeds affair and rightly so, considering we've been the best two teams all year. It has been said that the play off system this time around is flawed and i'd have to agree with that. It's just not right that a team that finishes outside the top half of the table is given the chance in the play-offs. But I suppose it's all about getting more games for the RFL and getting a wider mix of teams involved.

Whilst at it i'd just like to say i hope Chev Walker recovers fully from that nasty break and look forward to seeing him back in action!

I hope we can get past Hull KR, they looked shit against Leeds in second half, hopefully they play that bad against us

You'll need them to play that bad to give you any chance I think. As a team you seem to lack that x-factor that you need to win things.

I personally can't see you beating them unless as you say they have another off day.

Huddersfield - Catalans starting now, Can't see Catalans doing anything against a pretty impressive Giants team this year

Yeah, I've just been made to eat my words.

Fair play to them, they were pretty damned good tonight

Huddersfield were shite but fair play to the Dragons, well deserved victory tonight.

Didn't realise that St Helens can't be picked by Leeds for the semi-finals, seems like a silly rule.

I reckon that Leeds will pick Catalans, no matter the result of tomorrow nights match. Even in this good form, you'd have to fancy Leeds.

I think they'll take Catalans as well, as personally, I think Wigan will win tomorrow...and Wigan always give Leeds a good game...it's not ideal for Leeds though, as St Helens have a very good recent record against Wigan
