Roy Keane

That’s a bit daft too. He’s a decent pundit, he’s just got a bit of a blind spot where he’s seeing a parallel to his own career and can’t separate his emotion from that bitter end from reality.
A decent pundit in what sense? He’s rolled out to play a character & does it well, this Ronaldo stance is just another string to his contrary bow.

I’d say Daft would be calling him ‘decent’ when you agree then saying he has a ‘blind spot’ when you don’t but to each their own

His job is to be entertaining, which he is, and insightful which he also often is. It’s not like he’s contrarian for the sake of it, he usually has an actual point and this subject (which has massive parallels to his own career, and a subject that he openly is still very bitter over in leaving us) was the exception.

The thing about Scholes, Rio, Cantona etc they all served their time and come back in, the manager has basically said the same thing about Ronaldo he hasn't once said he won't be back in so I wonder why Roy is so charged up.

Ten Hag reiterated many times he would be back in the group after its all settled down

Keane talking shite.

Makes you laugh, Keane was a player that wanted stuff done right and professionally and didn't accept team mates to drop levels.
Wonder how he would feel today if one of his team mates didn't show up for pre season and wasn't part of the preparations for new season then turns up thinking I should playing, acting like a kid and throwing tantrums as not getting his own way.

I honestly think some ex-players like Keane just have this fixation of a player being exactly how he was when they played with him. It's as if he can't see beyond the memories of the games where Ronaldo won games single handedly for us. His views are being blinded and refusing to accept a player can decline no matter how good he is.

Despite the amount of frustration Rashford gives us with his wastefulness, the truth is we are a better team without Ronaldo. We are better with Rashford in the team, not so much because he's a bigger threat. It's the fact it works better for the whole team and suits the high press, counter pressing football we're trying to play. Keane just can't let it go as he's stuck his flag down on his defence of Ronaldo.

Wow, this is the first time I've heard an ex Utd player say "Utd are better without Ronaldo". Fair play to Neville! Roy Keane struggled to accept that point.

Jeeeezz.... cringeworthy from Keano there, fair play for Gary to sticking to his guns.

I felt bad for Hasselbaink they were both quite disrespectful to him cutting him off constantly, felt like he was on the cusp of making some worthwhile points as well but they didn't give him the space.

Talking about Keane seeing the way his United career ended in similar way to Ronaldo now, I wonder will he view Ten Hag in a little bit the same way as Sir Alex and be quicker to stick the knife in whenever we have some poor performances

Yeah if they let him talk he would have made Keane look even worse.

He already did in this Embarassing rant here, talking about Man City beating us etc despite the fact he is a new manager and we are already seeing aspects of teamwork and togetherness and results in recent weeks.

And who are we talking about here?

And jeez some of you talking nonsense about the legend that is Keano!
Roy Keane on Haaland.
"He was an absolute p**** to play against. Niggling, sneaky.

"I did want to nail him and let him know what was happening. I wanted to hurt him and stand over him and go: ‘Take that, you c***.’

"I don’t regret that.

Will always love Roy Keane, but he's so far wrong here it's unreal.

Annoying to see someone who consistently goes on about being a good teammate, doing your job, a good dressing room full of good senior pros, bend over backwards to defend someone who's been anything but any of things recently.

Cannot wait until Ronaldo leaves. Fair play to Neville btw. Called it spot on.

Undoubtedly. We’ve already seen evidence of that today and downplaying the victories over Liverpool and Spurs.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Roy for the player he was, and think he’s largely a decent pundit, but we’re just going to have ignore this issue that he’s clearly got a emotional blind spot on.

Keane is embarrassing himself big time. He probably can't get over what Fergie did to him. You don't need to be an expert to see that Ronaldo hasn't bee at his best this season, and ETH would love to have an in form Ronaldo because we need goals. How can you sit there and claim that we're better with him on the team?

Should ETH just play Ronaldo regardless to his form? Should ETH not take an action with Ronaldo after what happened? I don't understand what Roy wants here.

Roy Keane on Haaland.
Yeah was assuming that’s what you were talking about, but he didn’t end his career. Unless he hit him so hard it went right through his body and into his other leg. Definitely didn’t end Alfies career.

Fair enough on whoever thinks he's a decent pundit. I myself think he's an entertaining pundit who has a good comedic delivery to things (which compared to other woefully boring pundits is a blessing) but I never found him really insightful on anything.

Which I guess, that should mean I should really be just laughing at his bias nonsense and say "there he goes off again".

Not defending either Keane or Ronaldo here. Personally I think we are a better team without Ronnie now sad to say but that's just the way it is.

However nothing Keane said there is actually wrong or out of order.

Players have done far worse at United we all know that. Keane for one, Eric obviously, I believe Scholes refused to play before in a huff.

Ruud wanting a transfer before the FA Cup final where he then had a stinker.

Players of a certain level can be seriously hard to deal with. They have a mentality that has gotten them to where they are it can blind them at times.

Ronaldo behaved the way he did because he wants to play and that's the bottom line. He believes he can make a difference every game and that's something that will never change about him.

Erik believes otherwise and I feel he is dealing with this well. I don't think it will phase him at all and he will carry on managing the team the way he is.

If he feels he needs to play Ronaldo I'm sure he will if not he won't and that won't change until Ronaldo is no longer at the club
In that case he shouldn't have behaved like a prick and come on as a sub when ETH asked him to.

What he did was unforgiveable.

It's always frustrating to watch when Roy loses his rag...no one was saying Ronaldo shouldn't be punished, and they all agreed he was in the wrong for walking off.

The mad ramblings in the middle were all unnecessary.

I’m actually surprised at his love for Ronaldo . I’d have thought he’d be the exact type of player Keane would have no time for . ( playing for his own accolades , not a team player , managers allowing him not to track back hence giving his team mates having to do his job )

And this is why the Ronnie circus needs to leave as well. Just like the Pogba circus. All these pundits (and the station) are just obsessed with these players (even when they aren't playing!) just because they generate views with their "heated debates"

It's only unforgivable if you don't like the player?

Is Scholes refusing to pay a match unforgivable?

Ruud asking for a transfer just before the FA Cup Final unforgivable?

Rooney wanting out because Chelsea and City had more money unforgivable?

Ronny messed up everyone knows it and he deserves to be punished. It's not unforgivable though just because you have a problem with him

Of course it's not. The fact that it was the second time he left the stadium early in a couple of months is troubling though. It also lends credence to the people who were saying that Ronaldo was the problem last season. The only difference is that ETH has been given the backing to deal with it.

The thing we are waiting to see is if he's not started next match or is taken off will he act out again?

This is different, he's 37 which means his ea sports rating goes down.

at first, it surprised me too. But if you think back at how his own United career ended and what happened with Irelands NT, it's not that surprising. He probably sees a bit of himself in all of what's going with Ronaldo.

either way, some embarrassing takes from Keane. If he can't see how Ronaldo has declined and how United are playing better without him, I don't know what to tell him.

Love Keane as a player but Keane's stance on this is exactly why he's a failure as a manager.

He's knows he's wrong, won't admit it and doubles down in the hope Ronaldo will bag a goal or two and he can't sit there looking smug.

How anyone can claim united are better with Ronaldo is either a liar or an idiot.

When asked who the top 3 players in the league are Keane said Ronaldo first  He's either a massive WUM or a bigger Ronaldo fanboy than anyone on the caf

I'm sure he would have the same view of it if Maguire or De Gea did something like that.

He never played 90 mins again.

He never played 90 mins again.
Because he had a dodgy knee, he finished the rest of that game and then played 4 days later FFS!! Can’t be saying Keane ended his career, sick of hearing people say that.

“The myth persists, though, that Keane not only injured Haaland, but also ended his career.

It's not true. Haaland finished the game in question and also played half of a Norway friendly four days later before racking up 68 minutes of Leeds' next league game”
