Roy Keane - 10 years on

That isn't the whole picture by any stretch. Keane's opinions on many subjects (not just on SAF) aren't taken very seriously because he's wilfully controversial to the point of dishonesty; there's a reason why he's one of the few ex-pros who's employed as a pundit for more than just being a 'big name'.

I'm not convinced that he's being willfully controversial. I incline to the view that he's just someone who tells it like it is and who has a low tolerance for bullshit. In a world where so much of the comment we're fed by pundits is anodyne to the extreme, I find that really refreshing.

It's not as if Keane were some mild mannered inoffensive player who has suddenly become opinionated at the sight of a Broadcasters paycheque - he's always had plenty to say for himself and is carrying on in that vein. I can see why not everyone will love the bloke, but I don't think he can fairly be accused of dishonesty!

I love Keane!!

Him, Sparky, Sharpy, Kan Kan, Becks are man but, absolutely brilliant to see an ex United man on the coaching staff at the euros.
Yeah, fair play to MON for levering Keano into the Irish setup as his assistant manager. What a brilliant move, signalling his own independence from the blazers, and creating a powerful management setup who would be in the TakeNoShit mode from Day One. You can see the players responding to Keano. O'Neill is such a calm, canny, measured presence and well ... the other buck is brimming with passion, drive, and footballing intelligence. Seriously amazing combo and great (if somewhat worrying) to see the hug-in on Monday night.

The FAI has blazers too? That's one nasty English habit you'd do well to stop.
