Round of 16 | England vs Slovakia | Spain vs Georgia

Is Kane just bad in this tournament or this season on the whole? Is Bundesliga stat padding making him look better?

If he suddenly just dropped a level this year with age you’d expect to see him drop too deep making passes rather than staying as the focal point, as that’s the last thing he could hang onto as he declines. It’s the thing he was criticised for doing too often.

The fact he’s not doing it at all suggests he’s playing a very specific, limited role. He’s not playing it well and he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it, but it’s fairly obvious it isn’t a good setup for anyone either.

For Kane to miss a header like that shows that he's not at it. Should have been subbed ages ago.

No it’s this team and manager. No one supplying him. He was decent for Bayern.
He’s declining quite a bit too.

Great players are able to hide it well with experience and club sides being built around them but having mobile workhorses is such a big part of the modern game.

same thing with Ronaldo

I don’t think half of the players fancy it y’know… they probably just want a rest after a long season.. passing it around in defence when you’re 1-0 down in the first knockout stage is telling.

Doesn’t matter how cautious you are as a manager - how the feck can you not see you need to make a substitute whilst they have enough time to influence it. You’re bloody losing

I’m not sure what Southgate thinks the negative of just going for it at this point is really.

Kane has been awful the entire tournament and that missed chance was just the cherry on top.

Southgate waiting until he gets the sack instead of bringing on some subs.

And some people say Kane is better than Shearer, Alan nods that home 100% of the time.
