Rooney exit to spark major spending?

 @ this thread. Muppet paradise.

Just what I was thinking. The last few days have been very illuminating. Between the fanbois, the agenda posters, the gibbering glazer hatred, the football manager transfer muppets, the doomsayers, the blind optimists, the drama queens and the juvenile dickheads I have almost been ashamed to be a United fan.

If I was the manager assessing things at the end of the season, assuming Edwin retires, Hargreaves "back in 2 weeks" comeback doesn't materialise, and Wayne has fecked off to boost his bank balance, I'd do the following...

-Sign Hugo Lloris to replace Edwin, he's at a good age where he could serve us for the next 12 years at least, he's quality and has good CL and international experience.

-Find a box-to-box midfielder of some substance, a midfielder with a bit of everything, I'll leave who to SAF and his scouts as that player, who'd realistically be available and within our means is tough to find right now.

-I'd bring Dzeko to the club to fill the Rooney void, big, strong, powerful, excellent finisher, and again like Lloris is at a good age which fits into our profile for player recruitment.

We don't need a RB as many people say, I've every faith that Rafael will become our outright 1st choice RB at some point in the not too distant future.

So in essence I feel we are 2-3 player's short with or without Wayne, if Giggs/Scholes retire then that number probably increases by one, likewise if VDS stays we don't have to buy a keeper. All in all, we've the nucleus of a good squad capable of maintaining the success of recent times, we're just a couple of pieces short of the complete puzzle.

IF Rooney does go, this gives the club a boot up the ass, to bring in a muppet player or 2, as much for merchandizing purposes as well as hopefully their playing ability!

This is an aspect many haven't thought of with the notion of not replacing Rooney with a star player, business-wise United need star names so financially it's spending money to make money.

I'm also on the Muller bandwagon I see in here, he's a very complete player, versatile and seemingly with the maturity, work ethic and intelligence to fit right in at the club.

Muller is at Bayern for life though, signed a new contract to 2015 2-3 weeks back.

Ozil would have been such a great buy.

I cannot understand how we could bring world class players here now.

I mean we will have to spend more than 150 mil pounds to make this squad into a PL and CL winning one imo.

GK - 20m tops
CM - 30m
ST - 35m

times are reporting that there would be wholesale changes at united with 10player facing the chop

Which is utter bollocks.

Try listing those 10 players! Pig, Brown, Hargreaves, Anderson, Carrick, Park, Gibson, Owen, Rooney....

Please note, i'm merely speculating and I wouldn't want some of those gone at all. Important to keep experience/stability at the club.
