Rooney Charged: Faces Two Match Ban for cursing | Appeal lost

Corrupt and useless FA.. sacked the whole lot of them....

What the feck are you giong on about, constantly attacking me for not believing in a conspiracy, your making a fecking fool out of yourself.

A conspiracy would be ... "The FA decided to charge Rooney because well since SAF has been banned and sent to the stands, it hasn't slowed down United, in fact we've scored after going down to 10 men and winning in the last couple of minutes and then we've won after being 2-0 down after 2 penos being given to the opposition. The FA is so desperate to see United not win the trophy that they are going to try ban one of our best players to stall our march to #19, in fact. This is also because the FA's chairman who is a self proclaimed City fan who is desperate for City to succeed has mandated this to the disciplinary committee, that if City can't win then at the very least don't let United win the trophy."

Now that would be talking conspiracy.

The rest is fact - FA don't react to 100s of players swearing but, have in this case because the media made a big deal about it.

Mainly? Try always.

In every single game of PL football, bar none, you get players cursing at each other, or at themselves. Nobody ever gets sent off just for cursing. It's always for showing dissent. This is a first and sets a very strange precedent.

Exactly. Pepe Reina was seen screaming obscenities at the referee but, did the FA question that referee if he had heard them and if he hadn't then are they going to charge him? No because the media didn't make a big deal about it.

Next goal a United player scores ... they need to shout into the camera French Connection UK !!! What? French Connection UK.

This conspiracy shit is rubbish.
If this was on RAWK , we would be laughing and posting there comments.
Now we are doing the very same ,when something goes against us.
I don't agree with the FA charge but I also don't agree this is because the FA don't want us to win and that an ex City board member is now the FA Chairman.
This is not about Rooney swearing on a football pitch , it is about Rooney swearing straight in to the camera in front of millions of people.

Statement from SAF has just been released -

'we needed a fair FA today... well, a strong one anyway, but we didn't get that'.

Rumours are that the FA will respond by issuing him with a 20 match touchline ban, stop his horse from running The National this weekend and arrange for his Royal Wedding invite to be retracted.

Thankyou Claymore. That joke took far too long to raise a little green laughing man. Not that I was watching, waiting for it with baited breath or anything... (I was :()

It's not a conspiracy but it's a very good example of the FA making knee-jerk decisions in response to a high-profile media campaign. All a bit spineless really.

That is my point, (Bernstein is a blue btw, a good lad still, met him a few times) whilst it is harsh and will likely be rescinded he was an absolute idiot to do it, which is undeniable.

Now it's just unlikely to be rescinded? Your confidence in him not getting banned is significantly reducing :p

Boycott all PR at Wembley.

Why can't the whole club, players, management even Albert the kit man completely ignore the fa officials at Wembley? Before the kick-off and after the fa suits have polished they shoes for their big day. No handshakes and no guided tour to introduce the players and don't even communicate with the spineless cnuts. That would show the whole world what United think of this seasons media witchhunt.

ps. Thank you fa for making number 19 even more special now.

This is the FA finally finding a way to ban Rooney for the elbow against Wigan. Pathetic but true.

Swearing directly into the camera is deserving of punishment, though a 2 game ban is extremely fecking harsh. A fine and being told to watch it in the future would have been more than enough.

2 game ban really is a joke.

Exactly. A hefty fine preferably donated to a needing charity and not just the basketcase fa and a suspended sentence would have been just as much of a deterrent.

I was highlighting to p_s that if people (I) were making a statement like that - then that is what a conspiracy is.

Stating the FA is bowing down to media hype and reacting to it in this harsh manner is something we've come to expect from them. Nothing to do with conspiracy theories. It's not that they have it in for United but, United are the ones that are most highlighted in the media. Go back to Rio's ban last season where Sky played the incident over and over again till the FA acted but, a similar incident think was Terry where it wasn't hyped as much went unpunished.

The last point you made is where I disagree with anyone saying it's deserved because he did it directly into the camera. There is nothing stating in the rules that you can swear / abuse on the pitch as long as you don't do it directly into the camera.

Apply the rules as stated and it shouldn't matter if he did it directly into the camera or not but, the FA have taken it upon themselves to make it matter since there has been so much publicity about it.

If the FA are acting in their typical arbitrary and capricious manner and don't have a precedent for suspending a player for swearing, then its time to take the issue to the CAS. We know United won't get a fair hearing from the FA so delay the appeals as long as possible and then petition the CAS to hear the case.

There should be no problem delaying the hearing until the summer and if the FA are upheld he can serve the ban starting next year.

I don't think it is deserved , but that is what the FA is basing the charge on , of that I am sure

The club, manager, and Rooney should come out and point out how England and the FA did nothing over his swearing at a camera for England. What is the FA's defense to that? I'd imagine more people were watching the England match than United's so more people saw it. They refused to do anything because it would have hurt England.

Otherwise, bombard the FA with videos of players swearing, managers swearing, etc. They took no action over Kinnear or Redknapp.

Also, the fans should sneak in things with large swear words on them to the match against Fulham.

*points out that the FA hold no jurisdiction over such bans*

Who does then? Capello? Like he's going to do anything that will get him the sack. The FA can do whatever they want and generally do when it comes to suspensions. No matter the precedent(or lack thereof) they'll do what they want.

It's obviously a different organization, but the French Football Federation suspended Evra, Anelka, etc. I'm pretty sure the FA could get away with it given that there is no functional judicial system within the FA.

I don't think he swore at the camera after the Algeria match. Still, the apology was enough. No one gave a damn though when in a friendly ahead of the tournament the referee said he cursed him. It was well publicised. The FA did not. Easier to punish United rather than England.

Couldn't make this shit up. I find it absolutely shocking that these incompetent cnuts in the FA are allowed to continue this witch hunt of all things United.

If it was that I wouldn't mind so much.

But all they do, over and over again, is use us as an example of what won't happen if a player from another club comits the same offence.

My mate just said "thye've made a rod for their own bakcs here" but the point is they haven't. They have made a rod which they will forget all about as soon as the next similar case comes up.

Oh well, one to add to our wall of shame:

  • The only player to be banned for 8 months for missing a drugs test
  • The only player to be banned for writing an autobiography
  • The only player to get banned for getting into handbags with a racist groundsman outside of match-time
  • The only club for whom red cards in friendlies lead to suspension in the league
  • The only manager who gets banned for saying the ref was not "fair and strong"
  • The longest ever ban for violent conduct in Premier League history (not that Eric didn't deserve a long ban, but how long would Shearer have got for the same offence? A couple of months I reckon)
  • The only player to get banned for swearing during a goal celebration

Have I missed any?

+ the only player to be banned for celebrating a goal, thus upsetting opposing fans at OT

That would be FIFA's jurisdiction, the French football farce is nothing like it.

There isn’t any amount of fame or money that would make me switch places with someone who’s every move, and personal life is placed under this amount of public scrutiny and examination.

It's totally obvious to anyone without an agenda that Rooney was caught up in the moment, and blurted out something he shouldn't have within earshot of a more than eager cameraman; this was nothing that was premeditated by him or planned out. This should have all been over and done with the moment he publically acknowledged this and then apologized. How it’s come to be that he is now looking at a possible two match ban, DURING PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT RUN OF GAMES OF THE ENTIRE SEASON…please someone tell me how the punishment fits the crime, and what logical message the FA is trying to send with this.

So you have a national team captain screwing a teammates girlfriend, another national team player bringing a pellet gun and shooting an employee (a felony offense nonetheless), yet a few expletives into a camera is the be all, end all?

Priorities.
