Do you really reckon he's all that, world cup shop window being a really crap way of deciding who's a good player or not??

Using the same rule of thumb, Zidane and Figo can be bought for $5.50 each cos they were shit in the WC

Is the Euro Championship just as bad a guide, remember Poborsky? Bought cos of one chip

Forget it Ronaldo, you carry on flossin them teeth with rope (cheers gary) and stay away from the PL

agreed ... i dont want him now ... he has to prove he can stay fit for a season first

no, because he yet has to prove he can stay fit for a season or two ...

i dont like the brazilian team (arrogance, diving, play acting and that jesus rubbish), but im happy for ronaldo that he finally put his 1998 nightmare behind him

well... all teams dive, jens.. GErmany and Italy have been well known for ir over the past few decades.

Ronaldo's still a few months of peak fitness... maybe it would be better to get him on loan just incase... thats if its possible.

My points about arrogance, play acting and the jesus rubbish remain.

Carlos before the final said Germany should be grateful to have the chance to play them. The guy´s so thick ...

Beaver Boy on loan, forget it.

i don't like Carlos n'all.. but the fact is they play great football..and are a pleasure to watch... i like good entertaiing football..hence the reason why i LOVE United... they share the same ethos as us..ie attacking football.

as for Ronaldo.. the mans most exciting sight in world football..and by the looks of it he's looking like he'll be back to his best, in no time.... only a fool would turn him down on loan...

or a brazil hater ;)

Beaver boy won´t be available on loan, but if he was, I´d take him in a heartbeat.

they played well..and always had a cutting edge.. with the 3 R's they can play average and win games.

agreed on your second point.

I'd have Ronaldo if we could get insurance on him. If he stays fit he looks like he'll be back to his old self in 4-5 months. He does need to prove his fitness though - he didn't look all that in the WC, scored the goals sure but they weren't great great goals (second yesterday excluded) and he missed a fair few and in doing so gave away the fact that he wasn't sharp. Out of all of the Brazilians he and Carlos are the two that don't cheat for me - I'd have them both.

carlos? please, the guy is arrogance personified and not even a lb.

Ronaldo would create new mythology at United. Beckham's crosses and Veron's flics into the box would be devasting, especially with his pace and the defence having to worry about RVN as well.

Ronaldo, on form and fit, is without any shadow of a doubt the best striker in the World.

Also, serious injuries don't usually happen twice once sorted out, and all clubs take out insurance on expensive signings - they have to. RVN will have been insured to the hilt. What is the difference?

If we sign Ronaldo I for one will be absolutely elated! Ronaldo + RVN + Addition of a very good CB = The European Cup (several times)!

I don't recall him diving once this whole tournament nor did he ever gesture to the ref for anything like a card for the opponent etc. I think he has gritty determination and he'd rather score a goal the right way than take a dive for a penalty. He kept his shirt on after the game and there was nowt written on it.

He still has his speed/skill/trickery and within the next few months I think he'll be back to the pre '98 Ronaldo that we all know.

If there is a chance that United could get him, I for one would be well happy.

Like Dans said "Out of all of the Brazilians he and Carlos are the two that don't cheat for me."

I agree.

My point was that the insurance on Ronaldo might be prohibitive.

As for Carlos, Jens, he's a better LB than Silvestre will ever be I'm sorry to say. His arrogance shouldn't be an issue frankly. I don't particularly like the guy - he spouts off a lot, but he does the job.

I think between 45-50 million quid - THE problem! I just hope Nike give us a helping hand!

Well, they already have - is it around 30 million we get from them this year?

Yep, true, I forgot to say that. I have tremendous respect for Ronny and I´m glad that he put the shit he suffered 4 years behind him.

He´s 25, he´s won 2 World Cups and he´s scored as many WC goals as Pele. Not bad ... ;)

the one against belgium was good n'all...

he showed glimpses of his best(especially in his first few matches, where he turned and powered away in typical Ronaldo fashion)..its unfair for us to expect that he'd be back to HIS best after being out for virtually 4 years.. many peeps around him seem to think that he'll be back big time in 4/5 months.... TBH he looked tired in his last two games..which is understandable due to the fact he's not match fit... anyway, even a 60% Ronaldo looked better than any other striker in the tournamemt.. I'd love us to get him... i don't think there's a player in the world i'd love to see more in a United shirt..

You don´t like Silvestre, either. ;)

I´m just a bit cautious when it comes to Brazilian defenders and I´m not the biggest fan of Bobby C. To spend 20-30m on him would be madness.

Gimme Wayne Bridge for half or the third of Carlos´ price.

aslong as we continue to entertain in true Unted fashion, i'll be happy... he'll certainly add spice to our attacking line-up ;)

Is Ronny suited for the English game?

I think he might have his leg in 2 pieces after a couple of matches ...

Carlos would be a good buy at 15m or so. More than that and you gotta think hard about it. I still think the kind of money we're talking about these days is well out of order.

You tell em Jens. Any non white South American would be crap in England. ;)

I don't see why not, he could play anywhere! He'll get a battering or two, that's for sure, but you could say the same about RVN or any other striker.

He's not really been fouled too much in this World Cup.

The strange thing is how innefective he was against England, and that is a slight worry.

I noticed something else about him too this WC. I've always thought he wasn't accurate when shooting from outside the box. I've decided that scoring isn't the first thing on his mind, I think he blasts the ball as hard as he can into a crowded area simply to cause havoc; he hopes for a deflection or a team mate to get hold of it. He does it about 3-4 times a game and I don't think it's such a bad tactic. Hockey players do it all the time ;)

No. I just have some concerns about his fitness and one more knee injury would probably mean the end of his career.

I think Ronaldo is a lot stronger physically than some of you give him credit for. I think he'd do well in the premier league if he gets back to full fitness. Anyway, I really don't think we'll get him.

same can be said about RVN.

One thing to say about Roberto Carlos is that he is in a very exclusive club of players who have won the World Cup and the European Cup in the same year! I think there is only about ten or so that have done that.

He must have something! ;)

Cafu & Ronaldo could've been the only players to win 3 consecutive world cups, had they not choked in 98.

Emerson´s come back from 2 knee injuries.

Cafu´s the only player ever to start in 3 consecutive WC finals.

Serious question, do you think Carlos would be rated this highly had he not scored THAT free kick v Barthez?
