Romelu Lukaku

For me Lukaku would be a stop gap signing to where we hopefully will get to and given the price that's a lot of money that's unlikely to be recouped

Ultimately does he have the potential to score that goal that helps us beat a Madrid, Barcelona or a Bayern in the UCL and I have my doubts

As much as I would love to say yes I agree. But he is younger than Lingard who is often classed as a kid (so maybe improve again) plus I think we should concentrate on winning our own league. Lukaku would come close to guaranteeing us 20-30 goals a season and that's not to be sniffed at.

Look back at the last 15 years in the premier league. Every person who finished top goalscorer in the league was a brilliant player. Why do some people think he isn't when he's on course to do it himself despite playing for a worse team than all of them.

Lukaku is a brilliant player, what he isn't though is that top bracket striker like a Suarez or a Lewandowski which is the main reason why a lot of United supporters wouldn't want to spend 70m on him

Appears he wants to return to CFC. I prefer Lacazette to be honest. Lukaku has bottled very every top six side. Disappears in matches. That might be just because Everton aren't the best. His touch and hold up play would be my concern. I don't think he will justify 100m price tag. Unlike Pogba who I think will in a few years.

Any typical number 9 will struggle when he's not getting the necessary service, and Everton as a team haven't produced a lot against the top sides. I don't think he will magically miss chances against good teams.

I seriously doubt he's coming here. He doesn't want to right? Mourinho has always stated he only wants players who WANT to play for United...otherwise he's not interested. Sensible really......

He might not be a particularly glamorous signing but I don't understand the resistance to us signing Lukaku from a few fans. Granted, he still has a number of inconsistencies in his game but what 23 year old doesn't? His record in this league is pretty amazing, all things considered. He's scored 15 or more league goals in all but 1 of his 5 seasons as a starter in the Premier League.
Exactly. In pretty weak and average teams too

He's good but quite one dimensional. He's all pace, power and shooting and lacking that bit of class that separates the best strikers from the rest. If we've run out of ideas he'd obviously do but I'd prefer a more well rounded striker.
But do people seriously doubt that he can't be coached to be better rounded? He is only 24. Surely people can see the enormous potential he posseses

I don't think I've seen many people with clumsy technique at 24 become classy at 26/28. Maybe I just haven't noticed them. I suppose Drogba was seen by many as clumsy when he first came to England.

Those Chelsea boys are an utter joke. Sell a player for £28m then buy him back for £100m.

Who was the mook that signed off on that? Must have been someone real, real dumb.

Andy Cole was nearly exactly the same age when he came from memory.

Arrived with the reputation he couldn't trap a ball.

He improved that massively during his time at United.

Touch is something you usually either got or you don't.
If that was the case Andy Cole would never have significantly improved his under Fergie's coaching. Personally I believe any player below 26 can improve on their first touch with world class coaching and practice. Especially players whose touch is inconsistent like Lukaku's is.

Meh, they sold Luiz for 50m and bought him cheaper. Made a killing from Oscar too.

We might buy Keane for 25m when we sold him for 2m a year ago FFS

TBF the thing is his technique isn't clumsy. His first touch is inconsistent. Very similar to a certain Michael Owen. He is not for example as technically iffy as Chicharito. And this is guy we've seen actually dribble past defenders and stuff. IMO, a few years under a truly world class coach could make him fulfill his potential and turn him world class.

Erm, we did the same with Pogba.

Lukaku is class as well. Gutted we aren't getting him.

I think he clearly is poor technically in terms of his control and passing. If you played him anywhere on the pitch apart from #9 he wouldn't look like a top level footballer. As a #9 though he is clearly superb. Finishing, heading, movement, strength, speed etc. If Chelsea sign him he will score a crazy amount of goals, same as he would do for us.

Football 'Einsteins' are funny. If Lukaku really is this one dimensional lump with a shit first touch how does he repeatedly score a feck load of goals every single season?

And also rated by managers like Jose and Conte.

Lukaku is very much underrated on CAF.

This can't be a serious comment given how much we let Pogba go for and pay to get him back?? And same may happen with Keane too...........

Lukaku offers guaranteed goals. This is hard to come by in the prem, and is worth a heck of a lot of £££'s

Wouldn't be against this signing, however I think he'll go to Chelsea.

Belotti, Griezmann, Morata, Laczette will all cost silly money, and Lukaku only one offering prem experience. No brainer for me

Isn't Lukaku the one in the white shirt?
Yeah you're right. My mistake .Pogba was there as well. BBC presenter also said that Lukaku would prefer a move to United. Whether United are interested is another thing.

Admittedly, I haven't followed his pursuit much as it has long appeared that he was a lock for Chelsea. I would hazard a guess that this is merely leverage to push a deal with the best terms possible for him at Chelsea but United would obviously benefit greatly with the addition of a player of his quality so why not?
