Romelu Lukaku

He's not terrible as this thread would have you believe. But he has improvements to make before a top club can consider him.

He's not good enough for a top club yet, with yet being the operative word. He has bags of potential and has scored a lot of goals in his career despite being in his early twenties.

His change of agent has coincided with him looking like a bit of a dick recently. I can't see him staying at Everton past next season and depending on how he does next season, it will determine what kind of club forks out for him.

Both correct.

Does every footballer holiday in the same hotel?

My main memory of him was ruining SAF's final game where he pissed on our defence.

If he could do that for us, I wouldn't mind. For me not that much between him and Benteke.
And neither are good enough. It shows the paucity of good strikers available that we're even linked with the big lump.

So, you aren't going to get Kane, nor Benzema, and you've ruled out Lukaku. So who is realistically left?

I guess you could get Benteke ... and then with both him and Fellaini in the team you'd be well set up for hoofball.
And still finishing above Spurs.

53 goals in 119 games for West Brom and Everton, before turning 22. Maybe not the most technical forward around but has enough promise to suggest he can develop more. If he was available for something like what Everton paid (£28m), I'd snap him up.

If only we had someone like Rooney upfront and a world class talent like trippier to cross it in for him :(

It's official we're signing both Pogba and Lukaku as they've been spotted at the same holiday destination as Depay. Now we just need Ronaldo, Messi and Bale to be there and we're in business.

He's awfully raw, expensive, and seems like a bit of a tit. Time is very much on his side but I doubt we'll see the best of him for another 4 or 5 years judging by forwards in his build. That is, if he hasn't club-hopped around too much and ruined progression before then.

Based on what? Mourinho was a damn fool for selling him.

Least you talk a good game.

Lukaku looks like a Labrador puppy, that you train to fetch a stick....He's on his way to fetch the stick, but changes his mind at last second, turns right and shits in your new shoes
I'd miss the shoe.

He's no Soldado for sure.

Lukaku is already better than Saha at 24 when we bought him, as an example. Speed, power, aerial ability, good with both feet. Feed him chances and he'll score all day. I wouldn't be mad if we signed him

Find the reactions in here weird. One underwhelming season followed by two good ones. And he's just 22. What speaks against him is his agent, his price tag and his arrogance, certainly not his talent.

Don't think thats true tbh

Ok maybe not, but he has all the tools he needs for success at United, just like Saha did when many questioned his signing from Fulham at the time, just like the Dwight Yorke signing was questioned. Lukaku would've scored a bucket-load of goals at Chelsea playing with that squad.

He scored 17 in 35 for West Brom, 15 in 31 in his first season at Everton and still hit double figures for 10 in 36 when Everton had a largely disappointing season considering how well they did in 13/14. You think he wouldn't excel playing with better players at a bigger team? I'll say it again, Mourinho is a damn fool for letting him go. He'd be the natural succesor to Drogba right now and they wouldn't have to depend on an injury prone Costa and an off form Falcao

Don't agree. Saha could at least control the ball

He'd be a decent option in addition to Rooney as our first choice, but I have a hard time seeing us paying as much as would be required to get him for a role like that. Especially considering that I don't really see him as a shoo in to reach the required level from a first choice striker at Manchester United, which would make it quite a punt all things considered.

I'll gladly admit that I've hardly seen enough of him to judge his true potential, so someone with more insight than me might have a more accurate opinion with regards to that. That said, in a few of the Everton games I did watch last season, he was shunted to the left wing in favour of Steven Naismith up top, which I found incomprehensible.

If only we had a great team like Spurs. Oh well. :(

Not saying he would be top of my list and not overly keen if Utd signed him

But nowhere even close to being as bad as some in this thread make out

His stats sort of tell the story of what I think of him. I don't think he's improved at all since that 2nd half of the season at West Brom. Terrorizes the odd defence, but that's what he was doing against us for West Brom.

Since he adapted to the Premier League he's not showed any of the improvement you expect of a player at his age, probably because he was already physically developed and isn't particularly technical. Given his lack of improvement from 18-22 I don't expect him to suddenly improve now, even if he is 'only 22'.

This isn't really an argument against your post Loublaze by the way, just my general view and quoted you for the stats...

No thanks, he has been very disrespectful to Everton this season as well, he keeps blabbing on about CL football like it's his birth right to play in the comp.

Rather than say something that bears no relationship to what I said, you could have answered the question I asked. Oh well.
