Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Tuchel not happy with donkey Rom

Interviewer - "Lukaku needs service"

Tuchel - "sometimes he needs to do the service, he had many ball losses without any pressure in very promising circumstances. The performance upfront needs to be much better".

And this is how I feel about certain players at our club.

It's not the role, his first touch is just abysmal. Chicarito was mainly a poacher, that was his main quality but even so he had a decent control on the ball. And to be completely honest, he was one of the more limited players we had back then. Shows you how overrated Lukaku is.

What is this? Lukaku gets found out when he isn't playing against the likes of Bologna and Udinese? No, this can't be! 100 million for this by the way.

58% pass success, not a single aerial challenge won(Ziyech!! won 3 by comparison) no tackles, barely presses, can't run with the ball, can't create.

It has been obvious from his Everton days that there were clear problems in his game, but goals just confuse people who should know better.

Rightfully called out, he'll be back in Italy padding those stats in no time.

That's the one. Maybe i'm doing him a disservice but i remember people complaining that he was garbage ...despite 30/40 goals in a couple of seasons
Your definitely doing him some considering how pivotal he was for bayern in several of their titles and the 2 ucl finals they reached even though he might not have been world class per say.

Valid point though as it seems that top coaches demand a lot more from their strikers today though I can see it change.

The need to “feed him” is so overused and said about him. Just not the Rolls Royce juggernaut unit he’s billed up to be.

He's a great striker when other players do all the hard work for him to do a tap in.

he doesn't even try to win headers. spot on about everything else too.

most forwards end up with nothing against city, but this is as typical a performance you get from Lukaku in a big game. There's just not enough time for him in a game like this. 3 identical little people have already stolen the ball from him and are on the counter by the time his brain loads his bootlegged skills package.

Don't see a great deal wrong with those two moments.
The first he finally used his strength well to break free , heavy pass though.
The 2nd, good running off the ball. Again he uses his physical advantage well but it was a good stop from Ederson.
He plays with his head down too often though, which is why in the 1st clip his pass is off for offside.

The first one is a typical "pass the buck" type of action. He's the main striker, he should have the balls to take on the shot

The way Craig Burley shit all over Tuchel for benching him vs Liverpool when in truth, it might just have been for footballing reasons
Craig Burley is a fecking twat though. Who listens to that melon head ?

In the 2nd clip he does just that but the clip is put up to show one of his bad moments.

Hey PSG, do you need a striker who has scored over 250 career goals who is in his prime? Give us a call. Please?

Bayern fan, who do you rate more, Roy Makaay or Elber?
Elber. Even though I always loved Makaay. But the Dutchman was really a pure and single minded poacher, while Elber was a great all around player. His reputation would have been so much better if his relationship with the Brazilian national team would have been better.

First clip is terrible decision making, and weight of pass, but I don't see much wrong with the 2nd clip. That's great keeping to come out and really close down any angle to shoot towards. He couldn't do much more with that.

Completely anonymous, he needed to get a hold of the ball and bring the side up the pitch. Just didn’t do it

Does well first, just makes the wrong decision in both situations. Once he doesn't play through Ziyech instantly he either has to go for the shot himself or pass it wide to Alonso, the reverse pass to Ziyech is the most difficult one with the least likelihood of succeeding.

Second one, Ederson is almost 16 yards off his line, go for the chip. The early shot, unless it's a chip, is never on, and the end result is at a perfect height to save as well. Either chip or hit it hard and low.

It's a poor shot at perfect height for Ederson, chip or go hard and low.

Lukaku is a poor footballer but this is cnutish from Tuchel.

I said it before and I will say it again.
Lukaku makes chelsea play worse. He ruins their pressing scheme and free movement. Why? Because he is very static, no quick movement, no proper pressing is ever done by him and his hold up play doesnt work all the time.
Despite him winning the league title with us last season these problems were still evident in his gameplay and it drove us crazy (most of us were happy when he left anyways). The only difference is that Conte made the system just for him to thrive and cover most of his limited attributes all the time. Take all of that out and you end up with a useless player at the pitch with some questionable decision making (whether its on the pitch like today or outside). Chelsea should sell him somehow he is clearly not preferred by Tuchel.

Luca Toni too, crazy how many of the same striker type Bayern went through during that period.

Mad to think Mario Gomez is also younger than Ronaldo.

Mandzukic was a great striker, he didn't score much, but he was very mobile outside of the area, and had an amazing workrate.

I don't even know why bring Mario Mandzukic as non-mobile striker, when he was the opposite...he wasn't a great goal scorer, but did lot of work outside of the small area.

He is talking about Mario Gómez.
