Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Conte one of the best if not best managers in the world. Without messi pep still struggle to win champions league and he went to final once despite spent around 1.2 bn including his bayern days. Nobody claimed he is bad manager.

Saf too went out thrice in group stages from cl. Didn't make him bad manager either. Some times cl proved tough even for elite managers.
SAF never spent as much in such a short period as Conte did. 295m€ at Inter in 2 years (-145m€ netspend) and 393m€ in 2 years at Chelsea(-90m€ netspend)
He's nothing more than a cheque book manager who throws a hissy fit when they don't give him the money.

Saf had best team in land already he didn't need to spend yet failed in Europe some seasons in group stage totally different to conte s spending he needed to catch up with local rivals in his whole managerial career.

Of course saf greatest manager in English football and his league titles speaks for it but only 2 cl titles didn't reduce his managerial acumen.Because European football achievements not a scale to describe manager s success.

Conte did better in league though need to prove in Europe. But that doesn't make him bad manager or cheque book manager.

That's not true at all. When we failed in GS it was due to us being in transition or having old players who needed replacing but saf never bought them.
The UCL GS failure in 2005-06 was due to being in transition. In EPL 2004-05 we finished 3rd almost 20 poinths behind Chelsea who were champions. Next season we finished 2nd barely challenging for the title - at one point we were 15points behind Chelsea. People were also questioning SAF at the time.
in 2011/12 we completely fecked both the league title and the UCL progresion because we couldn't defend.

Mate I am not blaming SAF. I just said it in context that European football is not a scale to measure greatness of managers. Sometimes European football proved tough even for greatest of all time.

Conte proved in league he is one of the best. That's a very good measure to managerial greatness.

To be fair a lot of our failures came in the 3 foreigner rule age. When it was dropped late 90s it was constant semi finalists and 4 finals in 15 odd years for Sir Alex

Doubt it has to do with Lukaku. It's on Conte's tactics. At Chelsea they managed 85 goals in his first season (Costa 20, Hazard 16 , Pedro 10, Willian 8). They have yet to score more than 70 goals in the league.

Lukaku was integral to Conte's plan. He probably wouldn't have managed what he achieved with a lesser forward. The manager gets plaudits for bringing the best of his players, but he needs players that fit his strategy and you don't win titles with an untalented main forward. Lukaku went to Italy and absolutely smashed it and broke records

The question is how many PL goals is Lukaku worth.
Here is his PL goal record.

17,
15,
18,
25,
16,
12.

Only once has he scored more than 20 compared to Kane who has done it 5 times. Won 3 golden boots and won player of the month 6 times compared to Lukaku’s great tally of 1.

Ole sold Lukaku for a reason, he’s not the messiah some people are making him out to be.

You need context. In most of those seasons he played for smaller non CL playing clubs! He couldn't have picked a better placed PL team to bring the best out of him than Chelsea.

Lukaku scored 9 goals and 2 assists under Ole. Pogba scored 11 goals and 7 assists under Ole. One player is a CF and other player is a CM who was played in deeper role after first few games.

Also Lukaku didn't assist vs Chelsea in FA cup. It was Herrera and Pogba goals with Pogba and Rashford's assist. Also he didn't play against Huddesfield. Must be some great player to score goal without even playing the game.

I don't understand how any ManUtd can't dislike a player who talked big, stunk up the pitch (trying to compete with Mark Henry for strongest man) and then ran away the moment he had to compete for his position.

Yeah I dislike the man which is much better than worshipping him like you do.

I stand corrected, thanks for adding an assist and correcting me, the goal production remains the same. Don't be salty because I admire the player. This is laughable, you don't merely dislike the man, that's putting things mildly based on your responses here.

Most expensive player in the world, admired by some of the greatest managers in the game. Pep, one of the most decorated managers of all time described him as world class

“I saw him when he played for Everton with my friend Ronald Koeman - he punished us here in the Etihad Stadium and he punished us in Goodison Park.

“He’s fast, going to the channels, he helps to keep the ball and helps to make the movement for the other guys.

“He’s top. He’s a world class player.”

So from "Ole didn't give him chances' to "yeah he got chances but why should he fight for his position" to "you hate player" "you dislike player" 'you are salty" and now some random quotes.

Stop sucking his, I mean going by your responses here it's not merely liking him. Look like it's more than liking.

Sure thing, you can have it, this discussion has run it's course. It's better to admire than be consumed with irrational hate, enjoy it. This thread will be fun this season

Saying he was given chances and he wasn't sure starter isn't irrational hate, saying he wasn't given chance or worshipped like Jose used to is weird when he isn't that level of player who should be sure starter, especially the player who bulked so much and stunk up the pitch week in week out.

He's world class, big clubs don't pay big money for worthless players. It must've been hard for you to celebrate those two goals against PSG.

Looking forward to watch you celebrating Chelsea goals, wouldn't even surprise me if you do that even if he scores against ManUtd #LukakuFC

He was a hinderance to the rest of the team. I doubt 2 years under conte are fixing his first touch and interplay. He’s the guy to score all the goals….but the team score less.
He is top scorer and best player of a team which won Serie A for first time in a decade.

Both are good-average strikers - so for me it shows that Conte is the winning cause rather than the striker.

Conte is brilliant manager but Costa wasn't average striker. He was a beast when he was at his peak, which was very short (for about 3 seasons)

As many stated here, you're wrong about Costa. Great workhorse, good striker despoter his antics and on top of his game under Conte, hence they won the league. Kante and Costa was some of the main reasons they won.

Costa a "good-average" striker?

I don't think you ever watched chelsea play under Conte.

Apparently the diet change he made to fix his 'malfunctioning digestive system' and get back into shape at Inter was eliminating 'potatoes, fried food and alcohol'.

Groundbreaking stuff.

I've seen it subtly suggested that it was United's dieticians which were responsible for him being out of shape, but there's no chance they were permitting him to drink alcohol. It was clearly just a case of a guy having checked out. Not buying the 'bulking for the World Cup' theory either.

All said, I'm still doing everything I can to transfer him in my FPL team hah. Think he will get a bucketload of goals at Chelsea even if I still don't rate his all round play at all.

Has anyone ever hated a player more than GifLord hates Lukaku?

Cavani can score as many goals without being one of the biggest thundercunts in the sport.

If Cavani is a good for this season as Costa was for us, you'll win the league.

I'm a Cavani fan but I don't think this mid-30s Cavani will be as good as prime Costa was for us.

Only time will tell!

Wonder will his reaction be respectful when he scores against us or will do a Welbeck and rub it in.

Would be hilarious if he tries to pull the "respectful" nonsense, I mean there are few who will fall for that nonsense and comes up with <3 <3 <3 messages.

Yeah, I've always found the 'respectful' stuff a bit odd - unless it's the extreme cases like Messi now scoring against Barcelona after playing for them for literally half of his life.

Lukaku was here for 2 years, he didn't particularly like it, the fans didn't particularly like him -- why would he not celebrate if he scores against us?

Exactly. There is nothing between Manutd and Lukaku, at least with Chelsea he had that connection, the club he liked and the club that signed him when he was young player. For us it's nothing, he signed because of Jose and was sold when the manager was sacked.

He went nuts when he scored for Everton against Chelsea. He'll do the same if he scores against you lot.

Yeah, same when he scored vs. Everton for us. He definitely should celebrate if he scores against us.
