Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Did Chelsea struggle against bottom table teams? Because that's the only scenario where Lukaku is useful for a top team, it wouldn't justify the transfer fee but it could explain why the club targeted him.

PS: LVG would make great use of him.
Why do big teams still trade for Russ Westbrook?

I wouldn't say that big teams still trade for Westbrook but it actually shows why franchises/teams decisions shouldn't be given the benefit of doubts. The Rockets traded Chris Paul to the Thunder in exchange of Westbrook which was followed by the Rockets complete demise, he was traded to the the Wizard who aren't a big team in exchange of one of the worst contract in the NBA and a player coming back from a big injury, he was then sent to the Lakers who failed to make the playoff with Davis, James and Westbrook.

So to answer your question because some sport executives aren't that bright.

Houston were a contender and so were Lakers.

the 2nd point is correct and we can say the same for football management

I'm a bit confused, why did you quote me in the first place? What was your point of view?

you seemed perplexed that top sides still come in for Lukaku and I liken him to Russell Westbrook. His stats are amazing but has limited impact on winning majors and needs to revise your whole system for him. Its almost like they don't do their homework in detail

I wasn't perplexed about that, I was wondering about what Chelsea were lacking and the logic that they followed.

Any Chelsea fans know who's decision it was to buy Lukaku? Tucher, Marina, the scouts? A really poor choice for the money.

No-one knows really, but the fanbase tends to blame poor signings on the board and credit the manager with good signings, so even if you do get answers, take them with a grain of salt

Straight to the point :D

Was a silly decision to start him in the cup final.

He's an absolutely horrendous big game player, he'll always let you down.

In talks with Inter, he is available for a wage cut of 50%.
Chelsea have to accept a free loan

Seemed like with Werner struggling and missing chances they thought lets go for some guaranteed goals, that would propel them further. Everyone was fearful if they got a player to replace Werner, perhaps his Chelsea links helped as well that he'd be committed to the club. I was actually surprised he came back to England after everything was said and done and would try to stay at Inter on less wages where he was happy.

Classic mistake of paying too much and then becoming difficult to sell or loan. Sometimes I think players need to be wary of big fees as it can set up a situation of limbo for a club and player.

Everton Lukaku was such a different player, can't ever remember him being so lazy. Constatnly challenging and wining second balls, running onto loose passes.

Lack effot at Chelsea is even worse than it was at United.

Indeed. 13/14 Lukaku, even 12/13 at West Brom, he was a menace. Always running and chasing.

I think time is clouding the memory. Plenty of Everton fans couldn’t stand him either and I’m pretty sure when we signed him there were stats saying he ran less than most strikers when at Everton too.

True, Everton fans moaned about his lack of effort (and also about his interviews), we as usual took only positives and thought negative posts are usual fans bitching about player who is leaving.

Remember the likes of McNair and Blind marking him out of games rather effortlessly.

At West Brom he probably looked more energetic because he was used as a super sub to stretch tired defenders half the time.

No, he wasn’t. First we had to deal with the future lukaku when he came back from inter as a changed player, a different animal so watch him out next season. Now we are going back to past lukaku where he was a different animal back then. No, he was never different. He was always the same animal, a donkey. The number of variations he has been described with and the amount of countless versions he has been ascribed to , he must have gone past the whole evolutionary process and is evolved into some future species and let me tell you that future species is still a Donkey.

Not going to happen for obvious reasons but a Kane - Lukaku +Cash swap makes so much sense for everyone. Win win all around for players and clubs. Lukaku would thrive under Conte at Tottenham and Kane would finally be the striker Chelsea needs

No chance. Kane drops deep in the Spurs set up. Lukaku can't do that.

Spot on mate. A leopard never changes his spots and a donkey doesn't turn into a Grand National winner.

I disagree. It wasn't without reason that people perceived Lukaku to be bulkier and bigger at Utd. He was to my recollection leaner at West Brom and first season at Everton.

Spurs don't get a say in the matter then?

Nobody wants the crying man-child.

Ye bit of revision from me, but he was a different player. His touch and hold up play were still terrible but he was great in transition.

He certainly wasn't donkey. So I think we're all exagerating a little.

Absolutely no chance he chases this now.

Love this, my favourite post in a while

His agent in Milan talking with inter

This would be hilarious incompetence by Chelsea. Buy him for a ridiculous fee, get nothing out of him and then loan him back to his old club at your own cost! Inter laughing all the way to the bank.

Man, the PL clubs are chumps. Overpay for foreign talent and sell their own players on the cheap.

Not much difference of what happened with Martial to Seville as well

Nah it's genuinely nothing like it. The loan element is comparable, the rest is nothing like it. Martial at least gave us some brilliant seasons and performances and value for our much cheaper fee. Lukakau has had no upside for even more money.

Actually mental the amount of cumulative fees this guy has generated.

A loan to Inter Milan has to be out of the equation.
After paying €113 million for Mr. Lukaku last year, a swap deal would be the fairest and the only acceptable one, with Chelsea losing money every time.

Swap directly for Barella, Bastoni, or Skriniar.

The other options are that he brings an offer of more than 80 million euros from another club or he will have an exclusive seat in the Stamford Bridge stands in the year of the World Cup.
