The haters are out in force today.

Lukaku caused problems for the Arsenal defence and without him Lingard would never have scored the equaliser.

Or are you lot purposely ignoring that? Lukaku is a finisher and doesn’t have much else, so what is he going to do with barely any service? He isn’t going to produce a moment of brilliance like a Rooney or RVP or even Martial.

He is living off scraps. Put him in Liverpool, City, Spurs and he scores for fun. See him playing for Belgium for evidence. Scores a goal or 2 nearly every game.

Yes he has been poor this season but so have every attacker bar Martial.
That's a massive assumption and completely not true because none of those teams are dumb enough to sign him

As harsh as it is, if he didn't cost £75m he wouldn't be anywhere near our first team.

I actually saw him chase a player down at one stage, and he won the header for lingard’s goal, better than the rubbish he’s been serving up the last few weeks.

Wasnt even that bad.
If Rashford was a better decision maker and passed the ball to him when he was unmarked in acres of space he could have bagged himself a goal.

For what its worth i dont think hes good enough but i can see why he points and gets so frustrated at times.

I have started to think our players are becoming genuinely apprehensive of passing to him on the ground as his touch is so appalling

I actually think Lukaku is broken. He comes on for Lingard and the game just opened up for Arsenal. He looks so laboured. Easy to isolate and mark out.

Not a single player feels comfortable passing him a football to feet. Why is he playing professional football?

I can't believe posters are saying he won the header for Lingard's goal. He essentially let the ball bounce beyond him and then clambored towards it til the defender played it to Lingard.

Absolute joke. He's finished.

This. Think his large size made believe that he won it and because there were a number of people trying to win the ball. I knew Arsenal fans were hyping their defence.

Solid when he came on, faster system and more movement behind the front striker suits him a lot better. Still can have a few more games coming off the bench though, Rashford has earned the start.

Tell that to Mourinho.

Not taking that bait

No bait there. See the post below. People on this forum once they get an opinion of someone or the team is doing shite then everyone is all over them criticising and looking for scapegoats. It’s Mourinho’s tactics not Lukaku.

The man has scored over 100 PL at the age of 25, not many strikers can say that.

If he wasn’t a good striker then he wouldn’t have scored so many. Just look at how many goals he scored for Belgium.

The fact of the matter is, Mourinho’s tactics are terrible for attacking football and it is showing with our attackers. Excluding Martial, name one of our attackers that has been good this season?

Look at how bad Sanchez has been for us, he is a great player and the tactics are killing him. Mata, Rashford, Lukaku, Lingard, Sanchez and Martial until recently, all look shite under Mourinho.

It’s a combination of both, it’s not binary, it’s not one or the other. Sanchez was awful in his last 6 months at Arsenal - we hoped that was a blip, but it’s not looking like it. Lukuku has never been able to score goals against the big teams he is the absolute definition of a flat track bully - and unfortunately that really highlights his limitations at a striker.

Jose is a defensive manager, but other strikers and attacking players have thrived under him previously. We’ve just had a baby, and the last time Lukuku scores at home in the PL we weren’t even pregnant! He did come 6 weeks early, but it highlights how utterly poor he’s been.

Lukaku might be just a scorer as mentioned, but hes also so many one on one chances in games this season that hes messed up. Im sure he missed one in nearly every game for the first 6 or so games. His finishing has been poor this season on the whole.

Added to that, his ability to run at pace at players is no longer there. Hes bulked up, but not like Ronaldo did. Hes bulked up to the point its affecting his ability to move.

We defo do look more fluid without him, and his pressing seems so half hearted.

Changed the game when he came on. Unfortunately usually when you make such a statement it means the player had a positive impact on the game. I am starting to think there must be something in both his contract, and Matic's which says they have to play every game when fit. I cannot think of any other reason why they both play week in week out.

Necessary? He created the goal that got us something out of the game.

Lets show a bit more class toward our own players.
Let's not give them more credit than it's due either: "created" is a gigantic overstatement. He challenged for a long ball and then Kolasinac and Leno fecked it up.

What ? He was in a duel with an Arsenal defender where none of them were remotely close to the ball when it bounced and Lingard got on the end of it

I do think he deserves the majority of credit for our second goal last night. When the Arsenal defence faced a player that plays the game like the pitch is a bouncing castle they were bound to be stressed into making an error. Pure genius.

You're no more able to give some credit to one of your player. He protects the ball pretty well, that leads to the mistake. He occupies 2 defenders... That make the space for Lingard. He's not Von Persie, He's not Rooniiie, he's not mister Cantona but please, how about give some warm to your player doing their best despite their limitations ? He's not te recruiter, he's just a player.

Useless lump of shit. Please leave my club!

By create you mean completely missed the ball?

He just didn’t though, as @kouroux previously stated it is such a huge stretch to praise him for aimlessly bundling around.

He was instrumental in the goal happening.

But yeah, my main point is lets not verbally abuse our own players - we're better than that, aren't we?

We have rules about verbally abusing each other on here - why the venom toward out of form players?

Or at least some of them...

Hasn't played well whether as a starter or a sub, should be benched. Our young forwards in Rashford and Martial are more exciting and more threatening, with Lukaku it's just please God let him control the ball properly first, after it we see what happens, which simply doesn't because he would have already lost the ball, could be handy for running down walls in construction sites in Manchester.

I find it a bit weird that we've reached a stage where something like that is considered to be instrumental. The ball is hoofed up towards Lukaku who fights with the defender and none of them actually get on the ball as it bounces onwards, it ends up with being a goal due to a monumental cockup between the Arsenal defense and Leno, which allows Lingard to slot it in. If Leno had been quicker to react or any one of their defenders had done their job and just cleared it, everyone would be wondering why Lukaku doesn't actually get the ball in the first place. It's bizarre.

No, I would say it's obvious that as a collective group we're not really better than that. See the abuse Shaw was getting over the summer, or Martial for that matter, Rashford.
