Just not as clinical as Kane

Might be true generally (I'm not sure) but Lukaku has been a hell of a lot less wasteful than Kane so far this season. Kane had something like 24 goal attempts over his first three PL games with no returns.

Not getting enough service but I also don't think he's moving enough when in the box.

Do we have this rule that our biggest transfer star has to take all the penalties and free kicks? Why on earth should he take that free kick ahead of Mata? :wenger:

Difficult chance, but he should've scored from Martial's cross. Other than that thought he played well & his movement was better.

No, it was far too difficult to say he scould have scored or even hit the target.

Sometimes, badly. Mainly Baines.

Was annoying he took it away from Mata there. Mata was a legitimate free kick specialist at Chelsea & Valencia, and ever since he's been here he's found himself behind Rooney, Zlatan and now fecking Lukaku.

Literally can not understand in the slightest how he's ended up on freekicks or penalties.

Generally though, I think the problem today (and in general actually) has been a failure to actually create much for him.

Lukaku has been good so far but the problem is that, when he plays, there's always that temptation to launch the ball aimlessly towards him. It's an easy out-ball for players like Darmian, Valencia and Bailly who aren't the best ball players. We need to curb that temptation - you can't play hoofball against RM, City, Bayern or any of the other top teams - if you toss away possession they'll kill you.

Good goal. Should have scored from Martial's cross, though.

He should stay away from free kicks and penalties as he's only depending on power rather than any technique.

No. He shouldn't have scored from Martial's cross. How the hell can people think that?! It's a very difficult chance. He did fine today, I really don't know why this blame game always has to arrive.

The one he skied was a hard chance - can't be calling that a sitter.

God knows why Mata didn't take the free kick at the end - Rom is shit on set pieces.

Overall though this bloke is going to fill his boots for United.

It's hilarious to see him and Rashford getting stick for today. Completely Jones and Bailly's fault that we didn't win today.

Strikers aren't expected to score every chance they get.

Thought he had a good game but no idea why he's taking that FK at the end.

Should have scored twice but wasnt bad.. he would have scored the winner if the defenders did their job.

One thing which is a bit strange is him losing quite a few physicial duels, i know other players arent pushovers either but Lukaku must be one of the strongest players in the league.

He has scored some cracking free kicks for Everton from similar positions, it's not like he has never taken any before he came here.

Still wanted Mata to take it mind you but maybe Mata need to be forceful and just say I'm taking it

Well look, I was also against Zlatan taking the free kicks last season even though he scored multiple free kicks through his career. My problem with both Zlatan and Lukaku is they're depending on power rather than technique. Mata and Pogba are always aiming for a corner and depending on high accuracy, while Zlatan and Lukaku are shooting the ball as strong as possible without any technique. It may goes through on another day but more often won't.

Four goals in four league matches, so I'll take that for a quite good start. As for improvements, he's still relatively young and can upgrade in few areas, no bigger worries about him.

If Martial, Rashford, Zlatan and few others will add to his constant scoring input, this team will fight for title, 100%.

I still think he's great. His runs down the channels have been very good so far this season, and his hold-up play is better than Zlatan's without necessarily being as flashy. Talk of a poor first touch was massively overstated, imo.

Zlatan does that a lot true, but have you ever seen Lukaku's freekick? Even the earlier freekick he tried to place it rather than blasting it like Zlatan,

You can see the post above yours actually

Aye. I've said this before, but it wouldn't surprise me if he average 1.0 goals per game this season.

I saw that free kick before, but I found nothing that can change my opinion regarding this tbh with you.

Rom is a very good and reliable striker. Definitely not world class but may get there in a season or two, if we are patient enough, that is.

So wait... strikers don't always score all their chances?! You mean to tell me Ibra shouldn't have double of his already impressive tally last season as he surely should have had after all the millions of chances we put on a plate for him?!

Just wait until Lukaku goes next game without a goal, it won't be pretty on here. I can't understand it. He's been great.

If he wasn't so prone to brainless moments like the free kick at the end he could be a very good striker. I don't know if it's a lack of concentration or intelligence but that's an area of his game that really needs sharpening.
