Im trying to work out which one was best between these two.

I am not trying to be biased but I still think his goal vs Villa is the best of the lot. For one, the pass from Rooney was further away and better and the place where Van Persie struck was well outside the 18 yard box. The other two, even though they were sublime finishes, were closer to the 6 yard box. And lastly his latest goal was sort of over the keeper's head. The other two were towards their sides and hit low. This one he kinda had to scoop it over the keeper. It is interesting that both those goals were passes from Song. They must have been working on it quite extensively in training.

I think he connects more cleanly with his Everton goal but I preferred this because of the distance from which he hits it and that Rooney ball

I still think I like his goal against West Ham more... hmmm I don't know.

They're both goals of the highest order.

Really like the skill video. Shows you just how brilliant on the ball he is.

We could really use a central midfielder with that sort of ability. We would be able to resist being pressed so much better.

carrick rooney rvp

kagawa

falcao lewandowski??? :drool::drool::drool::lol:

I must have watched that goal 50 times this morning and it just keeps getting better.

Now my favourite volley is Scholes vs Villa because it was so casual and almost out of the blue, but van Persie's patented technique is up there. Still prefer that unbelievable one against Charlton in his Arsenal days, but my god what a way to help seal the title and put yourself back up the scoring charts.

Sir Alex and his goal of the century nonsense  ... he's got so much man love for Robin.

Quite amazing that Song pulled off two fantastic assists for RVP's goals against Everton and Liverpool.

Still, I much prefer the one yesterday. Could be biased though.

I just love how he's basically clinched the golden boot now Suarez is out for the season

The credit really does go to Persie though. Yes, they were good passes, but as Neville implied yesterday when discussing Rooney's pass, they are not impossible passes by any means. There is space in behind to play it. We probably see passes like that all the time all over the league, however, very rarely will such passes become an assist. These passes are assists because they have Robin van Persie on the end of them. The two Song passes particularly, do not even create goal-scoring chances for mere mortal strikers.

There was a ludicrously amazing volley a few years back where he came onto it on the run and had to jump quite high to lace it, it was like Marco van Basten.

I still can't understand how he did this:

I mean, that's an amazing ball from Giggsy alright, but it's swerving over his shoulder with a man right on him. I think bringing that down on the run so it lands perfectly for his next stride is possibly harder than the volley he did yesterday.

Obvious the strike is undoubtedly brilliant but the way RvP makes the run and peels away from his marker is perfection. Once Rooney took a heavier touch he knew the ball over the top was coming and his run to lose the CBs was spot on. Sex on legs

I don't understand how his speed never changes. From setting off on his run to actually striking the ball... he is constantly in motion at pretty much flat out speed... it doesn't make any sense that he can bring that ball down, keep it under control and get in a position to finish. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not even possible, and RVP has used some video editing software to fool us all...

I loved his goal last night, but I think this is still the goal of the season for me.

And then he actually has to finish, which he makes look easy (though if I remember right the keeper could have done better).

He's extremely good at football.

Very good point Rozay. Rooney's pass was very similar to the one he played to Rvp when we played Cluj away.

I reckon this is a seriously underrated goal. Great pass from Rooney and what a wonderfully delicate finish...there's only a handful of players that can manipulate the ball in the air with such precision.

Here's a better clip of the West Ham goal too:

That was like Rooney's overhead kick in that he clearly shinned it, but it was so good that you just ignore that and pretend it was a perfect contact.

Persie's was perfect contact.

Funny how for that West Ham goal the defender slows down just slightly as soon as Van Persie touches it, as if to prepare for what you'd think would inevitably be some sort of cutback or imperfect touch. There's an argument to say the defending wasn't absolutely spot on but it must've been shocking to see Van Persie control it like that.

“Well, I had the option of 20 or 21 and the reason I took this shirt is because we’re all here to be champions this year and that would mean a 20th league title for United. I would certainly like to be part of that, they have had an era of dominance already and I’d like to help them do it again.” - Robin Van Persie

Excellent quote. Hopefully this title win motivates him for an even better year next season. He's certainly capable of scoring 40 goals a season with some half decent wingers and a proper midfield pairing behind him.

I kind of prefer the West Ham goal. I'm a sucker for a sublime first touch. Also, the pass from Giggs was better.

Yeah, the way he got past the defender there was out of this world.

His whole performance was stylish as feck last night. And it was fitting that our number 20 secures number 20 with a glorious hat-trick.
