Whats your point man? Get it off your chest & stop beating around the bush..:lol::lol::lol:

When you have a piece of misinformation that floats around constantly, you need to back it up with facts. A simple "you're wrong" wouldn't do anything.

But we'll say my first post was the tome - my point in a nutshell: MLS is not anywhere close to bankruptcy, is growing, doesn't rely on retired, older players, is getting better and younger :D

I think he's probably finished for Ireland

Hasn't been particularly impressive for a few years and It will be difficult to stay involved

Shane Long and Kevin Doyle are 1st choice fir me these days anyway

He's still a great poacher & the best Striker we have - even though he's a bittuva useless diving bollox most of the time..

It's all good, I figured most won't read it so might as well give the ole' shortened response! Just reread it and realized, in my haste, my grammar was terrible. Oh well. The points are still there!

Do you work for the MLS, ESPN or FSC?

Because you've swallowed the party line whole.

He'll be playing with mediocre players in a league that has more chance of going bankrupt than it does of becoming respected and prestigious.

The good news is that it'll be easy money for him, and he'll be able to trade on his image to milk money out of American fans who fall for MLS's shenanigans.

My question is how the LA Galaxy can afford Beckham, Keane and Landon Donovan. Surely there is a cheaper way to build a team capable of dominating the MLS. This is all about image and publicity and nothing about building the game in the U.S.

They tried the overpriced aging European import thing with the NASL, and it bankrupted the league leaving a soccer wasteland in its wake. MLS wasn't supposed to repeat that mistaken approach. They were supposed to be patient and to build long term with young players and money invested into grass roots efforts. They were supposed to build an American game for Americans, not reinforce the stereotype of soccer as a foreign game for those interested in foreign stuff. Then MLS brought Beckham in, and now it seems that big bucks are there for aging superstars who most Americans barely know anything about except that they are supposed to be excited by this Thierry Henry guy because he's supposedly awesome at soccer. Without any memory of Beckham or Henry in their prime, these American fans only experience these "greats" in their twilight years and surrounded by players one or two steps behind their passes and technical ability. From this the average American concludes that the "greats" aren't that great and that soccer is a big waste of time. Please MLS build with American youth and stop looking for a magic bullet from abroad.

So, all of that is wrong and shockingly stupid. Read instead of assuming. Davisjw's post should do.

I didnt read it either - it just looked like it was a proper giving-out to your man.. You must have felt like Chuck Norris typing that eh? I'd say thats the type of whoopass shit that Chuck would type to make his point... keep up the good work my friend - the Caf needs hero's like you aul son!

You say "shortened"? feck sake - there's loads of words & stuff on that, i'd count the paragraphs but i'd probably just get a headache & have to sniff petrol fluid for 45mins to calm myself down...

Meant my response to you, my "in a nut shell", although I am certain I could of dug deeper with numbers, statistics, quotes, really dig deep.

Now now... There's no need to bring Mr. Norris into this... It took me about 11 paragraphs to get my point across... All he would have needed to say was "Wrong" and the world would of accepted it.

I do think the cap needs to be raised considerably. $2,675,000 is simply a joke. I know there are reasons behind it but with super wealthy owners/conglomerates operating the clubs, they can afford the added expenses. It's a sham that a quality player is making 50k or 100k and that's why the player jumps to Europe or Mexico or wherever when an offer comes in (assuming MLS doesn't block the move, which they have been notorious about in the past (see Eddie Johnson and Clint Mathis as examples).

Even if the league were to raise the cap to $5,000,000 but still keep the DP rules and other clauses that would be a start. There's just not much room for clubs to maneuver under the current cap unless it's LA or NY with unlimited revenue streams and benefactor's pockets.

I also believe the single entity concept should fade away as the league nears its 20th birthday. Allow the clubs to have full control over player movement. If Club A wants to stack its roster with class but Club B doesn't want to spend money in the similar manner, then so be it. Enough of this player movement being controlled by the league versus the club. Besides, it's not like the league is ensuring fairness across the board when it's evident they're favoring LA and NY.

Robbie Keane..the only player to have played for all eight of his childhood teams.

Liverpool Echo - Liverpool FC - News - Sir Alex Ferguson "running scared" of Robbie Keane

RAFA BENITEZ believes Alex Ferguson is rattled by the prospect of facing Robbie Keane in a Liverpool shirt after the United boss questioned his £20m transfer fee.

The United boss spoke of his surprise that Liverpool had shelled out so much for the Irish international striker just days after he had spent £30m on Keane's former Spurs team mate, Dimitar Berbatov.

But Benitez believes Ferguson's latest outburst is no more than another example of the mind games the Scotsman likes to indulge in in the build up to big games like today's lunchtime clash between Liverpool and United at Anfield.

And though Keane is still to find the net for his new club, Benitez is happy with the way he is settling into lifeat Anfield, and backed him to cope with Ferguson's barbed comments.

“Maybe it is because he is worried about Keane,” said the Liverpool manager. “Or maybe he is surprised because Keane was so cheap.

“They have paid £30m for Berbatov, £30m for Rooney, £30m for Ferdinand, £35m for Tevez so maybe he is surprised at the price we have paid for Robbie.

“Robbie is doing a good job for the team. He is training well and he is a player with quality.

"He is strong enough mentally so he will not worry about what anyone says.

"It is only a question of time so I will not put him under pressure by saying he needs to do this or do that.

“If he plays well for the team that is good enough for me because if he gave three assists and did not score any goals that would be even better than if he scored one goal.”

I'd forgotten how much Benitez was a special kind of idiot

"Welcome to Hollywood"

Sometimes I am so pleased not to be American

What the hell, I go on holiday for 10 days, The Djemba Twins becomes champions league material and Robbie Keane joins MLS?

A Robbie Keane getting his game for LA is better for Ireland then a Robbie Keane on the bench at Spurs. He will still do a job for Ireland but will probably call it quits for the national team after the current Euro International campaign.
