Buying descent players has gotten us were we are today if we want to compete with the likes of City we need to look for better players than Mahrez. We have a bunch of money to spend so I think we should aim higher then Mahrez.

Thought he was the only real consistent spark today. Every time he got the ball it looked like something could happen. We don't have that in midfield although it's hard to tell whether that's got to do with tactics or players.

His dribbling is brilliant. Effortless most times, which very few in the league are capable of. A lot like Martial when he has the space.

Get him in. Seriously, he's class.

He'd probably be sh*te under this slow passing sh*te LvG wants, under a decent gaffer he'd be class.

Don't want to see us spend big money on him. Could be a good addition but would not be good business in my opinion.

If there's one right winger in the league I'd have who isn't Sanchez, Willian or de bruyne, its him I think. Fast, excellent in the ball, and seems to have good decision making.

Grab him and Mane while your at it then let everyone fight it out for a starting berth. too many big names resting on their laurels at the moment.

That flip-flap against Darmian* was majestic  I like that he also always picks out a pass too though, he doesn't skill it then waste it with the final ball. We did a pretty good job on him I thought, limited the ball to the wings quiet well, but even with that he had some brilliant moments.

Our squad is pretty thin on attacking outlets, some of our players do look shattered and it's clear Champions League football among other things is taking its toll on them. I'd take him in January on that basis as well as the fact that he offers something different and actually runs at defenders.

Would be great to have him on the opposite side of Martial:

Memphis
Martial Herrera Mahrez

Seems a decent fella too. Mentality is important when looking at a player if he's going to succeed.

I'm still a bit wary tbh. Valencia had quite a good time in Wigan and his first two years here and look how he is now.

Would rather we try for the absolute best first before taking punts again. Chuck £100m at Neymar and his Dad, or pay Griezmann release clause.

I think he means a flashy player who will get a few dribbles wrong, get dropped, then be a victim of an attempt to make him a philosophy system player which will inevitably fail. Shipped out to Nantes for quarter of a price within 24 months.

Hmmm?

Sane of Shalke plays a very similar style to Mahrez but is younger and wouldn't have any ACON hinderance.

Valencia had quite a good time with United too to be fair to him. He's not been the same since breaking his leg. I take your point tho that we need someone a bit more special.

Mahrez is so different to Valencia though, its a poor comparison. Valencia is quite limited technically, and that's become more obvious over the years. Mahrez has far superior skill on the ball

Mahrez has undoubtedly been better this season but I much prefer Mané myself. Is there anything to suggest that this is anything more than a spectacular 6 months?

This could very well be the case. I haven't watched Leicester an awful lot, but judging from the game against us he doesn't seem to work defensively at all. He would be likely to end up like Di Maria.

(i like Mahrez by the way)

Mahrez would definitely be an upgrade on Mata, who seems to shrink match by match, but if media reports are to be believed we can land Ronaldo.

Ronaldo > Mahrez

I don't think Mahrez or Vardy suits United present playing style under LvG. I suspect Leicester's style playing on the break suit their assets perfectly well. United generally have a lot of ball, and with opposition playing very deep they'd both be unable to use their pace to good effect.

Mane is a much better prospect.

Mane is very similar in that his best work comes on the counter, but in truth that can be said of most pacey player. I think Mahrez has better close control and dribbling, he's the kind of player that operates well with pressure on the ball from what I've seen. Not that I want us to sign either of them in truth.

 That's mostly just blind runs and wasted possession. A United winger should be doing something useful with the ball more often than that.

He's at a slightly higher level than the one Januzaj reached under Moyes. I'd rather take a chance on developing our own kid.

I reckon he'd be rubbish if we signed him. I'm another who'd take Mane over him. But realistically, it's Bale, Ronaldo, Neymar, Muller etc standard we need.
