Right Winger... Who do we go for?

They would;d improve the squad and have hunger and a desire to play for Manchester United, these kind of signings have always been the best ones for us. No more 28 year olds looking for a pay day please.

I think that mentality has been our downfall , signing squad fillers rather than signing top class players who d start and improve the first team

Examples Rojo, Fellaini, Mata, Blind, Schniederlin, Depay the list goes on

Go out and buy one of the top 5 right wingers in the world make statements

Dybala, Sancho, Dembele, Costa

We don't necessarily need a right winger as no position is fixed. It's more of a replacement for lingard who is playing in a false no9.
Could go for the100m players in Hazard or Dybala. Bale would be perfect if he could stay fit...
Or maybe go for a rough diamond in Nicolas Pepe, instead of waiting for someone else to buy him and then buying him from them for triple the amount

Obviously this sounds ridiculous but positionally I think the best fit is a Messi type. A left-footer who can produce as an RW but also as a 10 when the play is shifted left towards Pogba, Martial and our LB playing triangles.

No idea if Dybala is good enough wide right. Bale does make sense, as might Asensio. We really should have just bought Mahrez or Dembele. Griezmann too, he's better on the right than people give him credit for.

I don't watch them enough and doubt they have the pace, but probably one of Suso or Sarabia isn't done improving and in 2 years we'll wish we'd have bought one for balance purposes. 2 clever left-footers comfortable out wide or centrally and both went from promising at like 22-23 to productive by age 25, question is if either has another gear or this is their peak. Be a lot more tempting if either was 22-23.

You think he'll get a chance this season to become a regular? I don't think so. Gomes has only gotten a few minutes at the end of the game. Chong got the most minutes and he only got like 30.
No chance of him playing this season, no. Pointless buying somebody for the sake of it though.

I think the same way, except Bale. He could be our next Schweinsteiger and would be very expensive.
My favourit is Dybala, bacause I don't think Hazard is possible for us.

My opinion on several transfers has changed since Ole's arrival and I agree with the people that mentioned Fékir. On paper he is blend between Mata and Lingard, he can organize play and also has the ability to score while putting a shift, he won't hold the width though which means that we need a fullback that is willing and able to overlap and be a threat with crosses.

I only watched him for the first time last week but the lad jack Clarke at Leeds looks talented. Playing at right back but loves taking on defenders, reminded me a bit of a young giggsy.

Yeah, Palace had a 10m bid rejected. I like the look of him though.

Heard there was interest alright, I think he’d be worth a 15m bid, bit like we did with Zaha before fergie retired.
I think it's a bit premature for a move for us, when you think we have Chong at a similar age and when we went for Zaha, he was championship POTY I think? He should definitely have tabs kept on him

Maybe, it’s just you’d hate to see him tearing it up down the right for some other pl club and then being worth 50m or whatever in a years time. Hope we do have tabs on him alright.

It's the burning question, and the most important signing we'll make this coming summer.

What I find interesting other than the names, is the sort of attacker we need. These are the two views that hold hold some merit and I'm interested in thoughts as to which people are aligned with:
  • That we need someone who can beat defenders from a standstill, stretch teams out wide and attract multiple makers essential easening the burden and creating space on the left side of our attack. This is essentially a reversal of our current attacking set up. Keeping in mind that all our left sided attackers are, essentially, forwards and prefer to play in the inside left position, we would seemingly be better off keeping the width through the right side with the width from the left coming from the LB. Think peak Nani or Sancho on the right for this method.
  • That we need a playmaker on the right hand side. A Mata upgrade if you will. The benefits here lie in the fact that our whole attack is a tad samey with many quick attackers who want to run at defended and not many that have an elevated ability to pull the strings and split defences. This option would also serve to offer a second playmaking engine to our play aside from Pogba. The argument against here is that Martial would continue to be our sole winger which, for me, isn't the best use of our most talented forward. Also I'd argue that the second playmaker should be our third CM (next to Pogba and DM).

Sancho is obvious, sneaky outsiders are Brooks and Gray.

Dembele is out of touch, as is Mbappe.

Good shout -- Brooks looks quality! He reminds me of Adnan Januzaj, but he actually has some end product and isn't constantly diving.

I would also be happy to bring in Gray. But he isn't the top of the list. More of a flier on youth talent.

This is spot on, finding the correct balance isn't going to be easy, like you I'd perfer the bolded option but I think it's the hardest to achieve as we have to buy two CM's and a RW to get that set up, where as with a playmaker floating off the RW we would just need to add a holding mid and the RWF.

French league now , just oozes class. We should probably scout more there.

Fekir at 60m is a steal. Pepe and Thauvin are good options.

I with you on the Fekir train, Yes plays as a 10 for lyon, but can easily play out on the right hand side. Half of these clips are of him coming in from the right. Think he is the most sure/safe option out there.

Im also a big fan of Fekir. He plays centrally in OL because of formation (and Traore). He have everything to be a great RW.

If we can’t get Sancho I’d definitly go for Pepe or Fekir.

Rashford's few games on the right this season was the last time we've had an actual right winger instead of someone really playing centrally since Valencia was playing there in 12/13 and Sir Alex retired.

I'd love us to finally change that and actually have a right wing. But until it happens I'll assume we end up with another player playing centrally

I don't understand why we don't go for Fekir. He's absolute great, and I think we should have a left footed player for our right wing. 50-60 million and he's ours. Lyon is a selling club, they wouldn't reject us.

Again, if we don't go for him, I don't see the reason why we don't go for a loan in January. Malcom of Barca, Gelson Martins of Atletico Madrid are 2 examples that I think both clubs would totally agree and we would have another good option for our right wing until summer.

Nabil Fekir doesn't play on the right. He has played there a few times years ago but he was unconvincing. His best role is a number 10 or behind the striker just like Antoine Griezmann.

The main concern regarding Fekir in France is his fitness. He has struggled a lot this season with injury. Despite that, he is Lyon best player but there is still some doubts about his ability to be consistent for a full season. Also let's not forget that he was supposed to sign for Liverpool this summer but the transfer was cancelled because of his medical.

Anyway on the topic, two players we should go for are Jadon Sancho or Nicolas Pepe.

Depending on what type of player we are looking for, for the right side of the attack.

Wingers
Sancho
Dembele
Under

Floating Playmaker
Eriksen
Dybala
Fekir

Someone who's quick, direct and knows how to cross a ball.

Is Pepe any good? I know he's one of the top scores in Ligue 1 this season, but haven't had any chance to watch him. Sancho the obvious choice but Dortmund will likely not sell for under £100m.

Like Di Maria ?

He's 23 years old having a breakout year. The player he reminds me the most is a young Di Maria from his Real Madrid days. His main attributes are blistering pace, very good dribbling and now even his finishing has become top notch. Very good attitude also, all the reports talk about him as a very humble person. Apart from Mbappé and Neymar, he has been the best player in Ligue 1.

For the negatives, he loses the ball a lot because he's always trying to make something happen, sometimes too much and he's not very focused on defensive duties.

Would love to have him here at the right price.

Liverpool just said so to negotiate, and it didnt work. If those knees where so bad then OL would know all about it and taken the money.

No like Dybala, Sancho, Dembele, Costa

Do you struggle to read?
I can read but you namelisted average players to make your point but you forgot to mention when we did sign a top player on the wing he flopped. I’m just adding something which you decided to leave out to make your point. Hope that’s ok for you to understand.

If we are in for Bergwijn as per the reports it could make sense to loan PSV Chong to fill the gap and get him some games in a proper league.
