Right Winger... Who do we go for?

I've been banging the Thauvin and Suso drum for a while. I would prefer Thauvin as he is more suited to the league and has good wing play. I've grown tired of small technical players on the wing.

Thauvin isn't fast and skillful enough to be good in the premier league
And even if he was, he isn't good enough for a top club.
I'm french and he see him in Italy or Spain ( Roma, Sevilla, Fiorentina, Villarreal, Lazio...). Or stay in Marseille !

In Sanchos case I am all for throwing money at them like Barca did with Dembele

How much money, though? Surely he won't cost the same as Dembele even if he is as good or better potential. Dembele was the knock on effect of the Neymar money that Barcelona received. They were desperate and everyone in football new they just got 180-200m for Neymar.

I'm guessing 80-90m should do it and from what I've seen, it seems worth it.

Maybe a little bit unorthodox, because of the average age in our front players maybe it would be nice to add some routine.

In my opinion Robben would be a nice alternative. Maybe just for a few games during a season, but he can swap for free at the end of the season.

Douglas Costas on the right would be a shrewd move. He has the quality and experience to really get that front 4 motoring. His age doesn't put me off at all. If you could sign Giggs at 28 you would deffo go for it. A good 4 seasons left in him.

Yeah, Sanchos would be good too, but he is potential. And we already have plenty of young boys with potential. Tahith Chong is actually a couple of months older than Sanchos. Would Chong be lighting up the Bundesleiga under the same circumstances? Probably.

I'm guessing Dembele money if we're in for him. He's English, which is instantly taxed heavily by the selling clubs. You can add the Manchester United tax on top of that.

Nicolas Pepe looks amazing on youtube. He can score, he can asist, he is very fast and he have nice driblings. 13 goals and 7 asists this season. I know its only French league but.

it may have been a knock on effect from Neymar, but that is now the going rate it seems. i doubt Dortmund sells Sancho for under £100m. they don't need to, and the player seems to be enjoying it there. they can hold out for Dembele money easily. there's always the chance he gets better too the longer they keep him, which will increase the price even more.

I think there is no way Dortmund will sell for less than 100m euros.

What about the guy from Chelsea? They've sold players to us before and for price its a good move for him...

I must be one of the only few that doesn’t think he is all that “yet”. He’s certainly talented but he’s not like jaw droppingly good and in all honesty I would think if we paid more than 60 mil for him we would be getting ripped off. He’s nowhere near as good as Dembele was when he went and as some have said his price was a inflated due to the Neymar and Mbappe stuff. Dybala is talked about as a 100 mil a much more proven player, there is no way Sancho is currently worth more and I’m not sure the being English tax applies outside of England. United tax more than likely though.

I’ve said for years now we should have been in for Dembele when he left Rennes and I’d still take him in a heart beat if available but that’s the thing he isn’t and I don’t really see anyone out there who is realistically attainable at this moment that is really worth investing in. Sancho is certainly one to keep an eye on, just not sure right now is the right time.

People might talk about Dybala costing 100 mil but I bet you they can get Coutinho money for him. Not that it matters, because rumours like these haven't a a real influence on the market. What matters are done deals like Dembele, Coutinho, Neymar, and those tell me Sancho will be very expensive indeed. And yes of course the being English tax applies here because Dortmund will know about his homegrown status as much as an English club. He'd be worth more to an English club than to any other club.

Those players might say that to you but then they are way, way above the level of Sancho currently or at the times of their moves and if we look at the costs of Malcom, Pulisic, Lemar and Anderson those costs tell me he is worth around 60mil if that.

Unless someone is truly desperate ala Barca for Dembele no one is surely going to pay over 60. I’m not going to rule it out because sillier things have happened but there is no way he is worth more than that.

In todays market they'd laugh in our faces if we offered them 60m.

From a buyers point of view he perhaps should only be worth 60m, but from a sellers point of view he's worth a hell of a lot more (extremely young, improving rapidly, very talented, English). So either a buyer matches what Dortmund would want for him, or he stays there. Which is what both Dortmund and probably Sancho himself would prefer.

The Sun (Sorry) reporting that scouts will be attending PSV's first match after the winter break to take a look at Steven Bergwijn. Apparently (perhaps not being the sun) Ole rates him.

My 2 cents, Bergwijn is not ready.

Any chance we can get Bale on a (relatively) cut price transfer fee? Real Madrid looks like they need a complete overhaul plus I'm reading that he may be in danger of losing his Spanish work permit due to Brexit.

He turns 30 this summer and is signed through summer 2022.

I'd rather we just used Chong as much as possible from the bench this season to be honest. January is an awful time to buy and Lingard is doing a job on the right currently, resting the front three will be key if we are to make top 4.

The most bizzare thing is that this thread still exists. The OP was 3 years ago and every single point in that post holds true today. Unbelievable how this is still a thing in 2019 and most likely won't change until the summer.

My own view has changed this season.
From being desperate for a RW, I don't think it is anywhere near priority now.
A top RWB to do the job Valencia should be doing is.
A front line of Rashford, Martial, Lingard/Sanchez, all rotating positions, in-game, is really promising. We are just missing the width added by an extra body from fullback. Not great on the left. Desperately poor on the right.

I wonder why we didn't go for Pulisic, would fit Ed's agenda of conquering the US and A completely.

The reason we don't need a RW is because we have Greenwood hopefully entering/ breaking in to our first team.

Let Rashford & Greenwood play as inverted fprwards at LF and RF with their right foot & left foot taking shots respectively.

To make it just that bit harder to defend against - let martial play in the blank space in between Rashford & Greenwood as a false 9 that receives the ball deep on the pitch & takes consistent runs at the defence directly on.

Wingers don't attract me at all - considering we don't even have a left winger; only forwards.

According to PSV fans on a Dutch footy forum I'm on he can play anywhere in attack except striker, but he's at his best on the left. Almost seems like everybody is these days.

Very true. That's what people say about Lozano too if I'm not mistaken. Guess they're both not what we need then. We've got plenty of competition already on that side of the pitch.

Too old, always injured and he'd want a massive wage. The time to sign Bale is long long gone now I think.

Chiesa at Fiorentina is old fashioned right footed right winger. It might be nice to stretch the play rather than condense it seeing as we have players who cut in from the left.

Anyone actually watched the Nigerian YouTube god Chukwueze? Not sure if he reminds me of Ronaldo or Obertan.

Inaki Williams. expand our Spanish side. Though difficult to negotiate with Bilbao.
It'll be impossible to negotiate with them. They'll only accept his release clause (which was €80m at the time of signing his contract extension rising to €108m - so probably close to €95m).

The only way we can get a semi-decent deal is if we extend Herrera's contract and then sell him to them for a decent fee, as Bilbao have the money but only Basque players can play for them).

Not sure about the validity of Romero as a source, but apparently Valverde has told Malcom he's free to leave this window, as he's unlikely to get many chances to play. It was always a weird signing for Barcelona, but he's still a talent, & the fee wouldn't be stupid.

Maybe United will be interested? I've no idea.

Thing is, I don't think we'll give him a proper chance.
