Right Winger... Who do we go for?

We should've gone for Mahrez, to be honest at the time me and most people were suspect but he's made an impact in a stacked Man City team (without him) and earned starting spots.

He's very under rated, simply because of his goals contribution here. However, if you look at some of our players goal contribution that are starters in our attack its noticeably similar if not better (when he played for Leicester). We would've guaranteed him a starting spot, and more of the limelight, its honestly a joke that the board didnt snatch him up.

Most people are advocating youth, which is probably the best option at this point (Rebic could also work), but are missing the fact that with youth we will delay our title ambitions a few years more probably. Its not always the case but it usually is, and then you guys will call for the next managers head as well.

Sancho is the only one worth getting. English, young and already making waves. Don't think we'd do it though, I actually think Chong is highly rated enough to get a chance.
We'd have to pay a lot for Sancho now that he's been a regular for Dortmund and England, and I don't suppose we'd be the only club in for him if Dortmund looked willing to sell.

Chong is an interesting idea, but I think he'll need to spend some serious time in the gym to get up to the level of strength needed to play in the Premier League. It could be viable though, and he has a good work ethic as well from what I've seen in the U23 games.

A related question though is whether we will be setting up in a system that requires a traditional right winger. It's a position that figures mainly in 4-4-2 type systems - in 4-3-3 type setups, it seems more common to use inverted wingers.

That can be done pretty quickly tbh. Many footballers have made these levels of transformations within a season. All comes down to the person.

Honestly couldn't care less, not under this manager anyway, absolutely pointless getting excited about any attacking signing. Lesson firmly learned.

I agree with this. Mourinho plays such life draining football that I believe giving him a quality attacking player is like giving Guardiola Fellaini. He wouldn’t know what to do with them.

The obvious choice is Osman Dembele if he available, but only if we have a manager like Zidane. If we get a manager like Pochettino, I will be interested in Nicholas Pepe, Jordan Sancho or Suso.

Supports: Mauricio Pochettino

I think Under would do well for us but he's not really the profile of player we've gone for in recent years.

Pretty much has to be Jadon Sancho at the moment. He’s everything a UTD right winger should be

Is Shaun Wright-Philips still active? He was decent for José before.

Pepe from Lille would be a gem. Pace, balance, and first touch are all exceptional

As other posters have mentioned.. It doesn't matter which attacking player we sign as long as Jose is the manager. Our style of play is atrocious. It's tough to get excited about anything United does at the moment. It's been the same shit for a long time.

Woodward needs to go as well.

People on here still care about signings! Jose ruins everyone. Just sign a work horse who can cross. No need for flair players under him.

If Woodward goes where we going to generate the money to sign the players?

Give Dortmund £120m for Sancho+Akanji.
That Akanji lad came out last week and said that despite him being a life long MUFC fan, he doesn't watch our games anymore because we're crap under Mourinho.

Though I agree with the notion we should be going after both of them.

Let me clarify, Woodward needs to focus on the commercial/business side and stay away from the footballing side of things at United.

He is an investment banker and great at dealing with money but terrible from a footballing perspective

The sad fact is after years of moyes, LVG and now Jose most of my United supporting friends have stopped watching the games.

That's quite telling. Tbh I'm always watching every game (well I tend to so as much as time allows me so) but nowadays it seems to have become more of a chore.

I don't think we are going to get anyone for the RW. The defense and midfield would be top priority. Everyone needs to prepare themselves for another year of Lingard/Mata on the right.

All the young kids I see nowadays are fans of Arsenal or Chelsea. Even Spurs and Liverpool are getting new fans. The United fans are becoming a minority and most of them are oldies in their mid to late 20s.

All out for Jadon Sancho, the best option out there really. Pulisic is not worth the money quoted and Cengiz Under has not really impressed enough to come in and be a starter from the get-go. I suppose Ousmane Dembele could also be an option but the question marks around his attitude make me a bit weary.

who ever we get needs to be a creative player i.e. assist first, score second. we lack that creative force in the final 3rd.

I'd say most realistic big name targets will be near impossible to get in Jan - also I think agents/players will wait to see if we get CL football next season as well.

For me, there is such a lack of penetration on the RW we could sign someone like Victor Moses for relative peanuts and it'd improve our team. We need someone with pace, who can get past a player and will help balance out our reliance on Martial's flank. We should always aim for the best players available but we also have to understand the top top players are likely not looking to miss out on the CL and also are probably quite wary of Mourinho at this moment in time.

None of my nephews and nieces are united fans. Everyone is Madrid, psg, city etc.
It should be a worrying trend for Woodward and the board.

This will only be visible long term(+10 years when these younger fans have purchasing on their own). Woodward and the board does not plan, nor think, long term.

Completely agree. Lille have a good track record of signing some excellent wingers too. He shoulders a lot of creative and goal scoring responsibility for the team considering he's just 23.

I think he's the right player for us. I would have loved to have Neres at United as well but Pepe is ahead in his development and this is the right time to take him to a bigger club.

So how about this Hoffenheim player... Joelinton Cassio. 4 goals & 4 assists in 12 appearances this season. Any followers of Bundesliga here know anything about this guy?
