Rico Henry

He caught my eye the few times I watched Brentford and I even wished we had a player like him. he plays with high intensity, very strong and vey good going forward. I doubt if Brentford will let him go at this stage.

He's a established player who is reported to be on verge of being up to the England the England squad, so I can't see how this move is a possibility. We seem to be looking for a placeholder on a emergency loan and that is going to be a player who will be a backup at another player.

At this point in the window, a key player for them, it would take a near UK record fee to land him

I've said this too, I've watched him a few times now and he looks like he's got everything to be top class.

For 8-9m, he'd be a much better punt than Henry or Cucurella or whoever.
Would he be able to get Work permit easily or early because that may be one of the concerns about signing him apart from his suitability and quality .

Don’t worry, we’ll beat that out of him if we sign him.

This looks like a harder deal than the Cuccurella one, so I don't see it happening.

Brighton are in for him, so you'd imagine there's a good chance he would get it.

Okay it's blatantly not true that we've got zero scouting influence............
But we just don't get these kind of South American deals done. City scooped up Alvarez for a meager sum whilst impressing for River Plate. We're working in a limited budget range and there's talent to be had for better prices, yet, we're never really in contention for low risk, high reward South American acquisitions.

Of course they are. We question why Brighton's scouting team are so good, yet we've got Adnan making a thread weeks and weeks before the transfer window closes. We ought to get Barco before we, or someone, ends up paying 80m in a season or two.

Possibly, but he looks far too talented and consistent on the ball to not be utilised for Brighton.

Not questioning his talent but need clarity over whether he would be able to get work permit to play in England straight away because it seems United's needs are bit urgent .

They might be planning to send him on loan like they tend to do with their several signings .

Pellestri had no problem getting a work permit, neither did Enciso or Caicedo from what I can see.

Already lining up a replacement for Estupinan.

I really don’t understand the urgency to sign a left back when we have two in the squad, plus a utility option in Dalot and a young prospect in Fernandez.

Where was this urgency when we went into seasons without a DM or a fit centre forward.

I still feel like there are bigger priorities.
These news might be nothing still but yeah, if true it is truly mindboggling. Dalot might be taken for a ride against Saka, but he is overall just not that bad. Licha has played there before and could play that role i´m sure. And if we´re forced, i don´t think Fernandez is that bad either as a last option.

Yeah, midfielders..

Do we have any central midfielder with good defensive awareness? A player that is great at reading the game, cutting off passing angles, anticipate and intercept passes, strong consistent ballwinner? Someone who is composed and isn´t easily dragged out of position? A player with legs at that?
No, but not an issue, no sweat, we could ask Fred and Scott to just work harder, simple.

Don't think it's realistic he would be fantastic in the double pivot midfield because he can bomb forward. The difference with this new formation is that the fullbacks are more inverted so I think Cucurella suits that role similar to Zinchenko last season.

I think Aaron Hickey would be a better signing. Can play either side, and Shaw will be first choice when he’s fit again. There’s no point splashing 50m on a 2nd choice LB.
